Um, er, ObMisty: oh, okay, F I R E R O S E S P O I L E R S Hmmm, I'm gonna have to say that the ending was a happy one since Jason didn't get changed back. Rose was really a dumkopf, not ordering the sylphs to save the manuscript....I liked this book quite a bit, I must say. A couple gripes: 1. I have trouble believing Rose would accept magick in such a short amount of time. That's probably my main gripe. 2. The ending seemed to come too soon, and with less resolution than I would have liked. 3. Why do all the villains have to be so totally evil? The main protagonist, Jason , at least, was portrayed realistically - he had his good points and his failings. Both of the villains, OTOH, have no gradation...why can't we have a blood mage who regrets going down that path, for instance? Or at least one who has some scrap of conscience, or compassion? THe head who's hiding one of the Nude Lady's breasts: I'd say Withen, though he hasn't a nose. 3. Death. Though he bears no resemblance to Shadow-Lover. Maybe Misty was thinking of a Pterry cross-over?;> Right border: 1. Um....the Hawkbrother guy......one who healed Van, and was there when he woke up...used to be Tallo.... 2. Lendel 3. I'd say its Savil, but no Nose...oh I know! In the early drafts, *Treesa*'s a mage!;> Magic's Promise Well, its Vanyel, Shadow Stalker, Hero of Stony Tor, Demonsbane, Herald-Mage, and Mipi the Mime (Jake, did I get that right? I don't think so.) in his spare time;> He's defending the girl on the horse; wait, that's supposed to be Tashir. I guess in the drafts he was female or something...and that Companion has to be Ghost. Starting from Left Border: 1. Tashir's Uncle, whose name I forget. 2. Um..someone or other standing at the top of a stairway in the palace-place-thingy in Tashir's country (can you tell I need to reread Promise?) 3. Medren's lute after Van's 'bout with the Lendel's evil Twin, Skippy;P Right border: 1. I never knew who this was till Catwoman told me it was Lissa, and except for the once-again nonexistant nose, it could very well be her. 2. Withen after plastic surgery? Lores? Jervis? Mekeal? A relative of Snake-Woman? 3. Jisa Magic's Price Wel, its Van..I guess striking a melo-dramamtic pose right before he Final Strike's, though Yfandes looks like she's just noticed some interesting grass or something.... Left border: 1. The three wizards of Learteh, 'cept these guys look like an early-draft X-Files cross over. 2. A grown up Jisa? Triangle Man? One of the Guardians? What Yfandes looked like 'fore Companion-hood? 3. The stuff used by the Guardian who was an alchemist.... Right Border 1. Um...maybe Savil? Or a Hawkbrother? And how come THIS person has the silver node-hair, and Van doesn't? 2. Stefen? Jisa? 3. The Palace? Ohyeah....I forgot backs! Magic's Pawn:Wyrsa and the Valdemaran Crest Magic's Promise:Killer Bats and maybe Skippy's crest? Magic's Price:um....um.....maybe Dark Servants and Leareth's or Karse's crest? *-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-* Korendil, Knight of Elfhame Sun-Descending, Squire of the High Court, Magus Minor, One In Black, Firstborn Child of Danaan, God of All Things Nocturnal, Bibliomaniac, Ailurophile, #Macintosh Op, and #Asgard Co-Owner. _____________________________________________________________________________ Email: korendil-+AT+-icubed.net |~You build worlds with steel and stone Email: jon_rubin-+AT+-bam_online.tfnet.com|/ I build worlds with words alone~ IRC: Korendil on #macintosh; Undernet|--Heather "ICSTPAMISLG" Alexander *-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-*-+AT+-* ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Jul 96 23:30:33 EDT From: Korendil To: "Misty List" Subject: Re: Dutch Braid, w/ObMisty :) Message-ID: <9607070330.AA08655-+AT+-raptor.icubed.net> >3. So now we have twice as much mail, and he's perfectly happy. Go figure. Anyway, I've always kinda liked my name, even though the meaning of it is a female sheep. It drives me nuts when people spell it wrong, though. They always add more letters than there are. And sorry to whomever it was that has a thing against Jennifer, but that's what I named my daughter. I kinda liked it, just because I have a VERY large family, and NOONE is named Jennifer. Ob Misty: Ummm, let's see. I've been rereading SWarning and SRising, and I keep seeing little things here and there that cause me to think that Vkandis and The Star-eyed have a lot in common. Sorry, I don't have the books handy, so no textevd, and I think I may have seen something similar being discussed here, so I may just be redundant, but I thought I'd ask. Also, will SOMEONE please tell me how to snip?!? And something about these abbreviations? I've figured out some of them, but others I still say Huh? about. Thanks all!! :) Rachel, looking for a cool name. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Jul 96 23:41:45 EDT From: Korendil To: "Misty List" Subject: Re: owning a bookstore Message-ID: <9607070341.AA08854-+AT+-raptor.icubed.net> >In the interest of brevity *snip* >My favorite quote about bookstores is in _Guards!
