Yeah, its annoying. I don't have any Misty hard covers or anything, so all
mine match..'cept for the bunny-munched one. <sigh> She thought it was
pretty darn tasty, too.

It is almost 1:30 A.M. and I am bored silly. I'm trying to think if I 
have any more of my "Stupid Questions".  Ummm, let's see.  Anybody have 
any idea exactly "what" Karal is supposed to be?  One of the books 
mention that he gave off a glow, which An'desha decided was a 
"God-touched" glow, and Altra appeared to him, and yet he wants nothing 
to do with attracting the attention of Vkandis.  I was just wondering if 
anyone had any ideas on the subject.  :)   :)

Weeeel...he's the channel for magic. Without him both the breakwater and 
the neutralizer would have been a lot harder, he's..well...a main 
character. Just that unless the other one's we've had, he _isn't_ 
extremely powerful, and multiple on multiple timees the fact that things 
could still happen; just harder; if he wasn't there. After rereading 
Rising, my esteem of the character I was cast as has greatly improved. He 
has good ideas, he has an ability, he has his problems. And it took GUTS 
to contact the ex-Imperials behind Solaris' and Selenay's backs.

Ok.....take a look...our last lifebond in present-day valdemar was none 
other than selenay. None since BTS. UNless you count Nyara/Skif. 
Buuuut...in Rising, we see two characters musing:

Firstly, Firesong's obsession with getting a lifebond, which leads to the 
Sanctuary Incident;>. 

Secondly, Tremane with his feeling of his "one great love, somewhere out 
there, untouched"

....both within verey close range of each other. Is it possibile the 
next great lifebond'll be Firesong and Tremane? When the negotiations 
started, it just added more impetus....eventually, Tremane will _have_ to 
visit Haven.

As far as I can tell, Karal is a channel, capable of containing and
directing vast amounts of power from multiple sources. As to his importance,
everybody
seems to be interested in him, even the Iftel border recognized him.  He has
a Firecat advising him, I guess that could just be because of the coming 
battle, or it could mean that Vkandis is taking a special interest in him.
Maybe the next Son of the Sun?  As to Karal not wanting to attract the 
attention of Vkandis, seems to me, that's a very strong clue that he will, 
or already has.  Not wanting to be powerful and important almost guarrantees
that you'll become both!

I think the *songs* themselves are pretty good.  She doesn't do them
justice.  Perhaps if someone else did them they'd sound better?  I liked
most of HH&H, though, even "Silly Sheepsong".  The tune is nice, even if the
*words* aren't!

Okay, as everyone has said, Karal is a channel, capable of directing 
great amounts of energy, from different sources. The god touch that 
An'desha saw, could be the fact that Karal is supposed to be a true 
Priest, and a soul-healer <ref is somewhere in Swarning>. Altra is 
hanging around, I believe, because Karal is in the middle of some pretty 
important stuff, and was needing a 'balance'....

and found the ref about Karal being a soul healer, and more about the why 
of Altra being around. page 349

Of course Jacob Two-Two counts.  He starred in two (of course) books,
Jacob Two-Two Meets The Hooded Fang and another in which his family
moves to Canada and he meets a dinosaur who eats lots of pizza.  The Hooded
Fang is also available in audio format, and when I was younger we listened
to it for hours in the car (when we weren't forcing my dad to tell us
stories about the One-Armed Bushman and the Purple Scarf).  I can recite
large portions of it by heart.  They are great books, especially the
first one.  The author is Mordecai Richtler (sp?).  

ObMisty:  Well, JTTMTHF has adventures like Talia's daydreams, sort of.
Also, I just read In Celebration of Lammas Night, and I didn't see
the connection between one of the stories (the one about the woman
with the pig that takes on characteristics of the animals whose bones
it eats) and the song.  Can someone enlighten me?

On the other hand, I don't even HAVE a middle name, and luckily, you don't
have to get stuck with your Hebrew name all of your life!  I changed mine in
a ceremony, my original one meant "resting", but my mom thought it just
meant "tranquil" and so I ended up one of the most unambitious people I
know.  I changed it to my great-grandmother's name, and she was a real
go-getter, and I'm starting to do a bit better now.

I saw ID4 yesterday and I loved it!!!!! That makes two movies that I didn't
want to see that I loved!  ID4 and Hunchback.  Uh-oh.  I also found that I
cry at movies at the drop of a hat, I never used to cry anywhere, for
anything except physical pain, I don't know what's going on, nowadays it's
more like "oh, he lost his dog, WAAAAAH!!!!!"  ugh.

I agree with Karal, I wouldn't want the attention of a god.  I have a bunch
of friends who want to take over the world, and put me up as the figurehead.
I keep telling them I don't want it, they can find another target, thank
you.  But I do think that Karal will either be the next Son of the Sun, or
something else really important.

Thanks for the insights on Karal! I'm rereading the books (and DYING for 
the third!) mainly because I like his character, not to mention Natoli, 
who is just an "ordinary" person.  Not too many of thos in these books. 
 They're all either gorgeous or brilliant or in perfect physical 
condition.  Nice to have someone I can relate to.  :) 
	The thought of Tremane and Firesong lifebonded sure made my jaw 
drop!  Have there been any hint of Tremane as shaych that I miised?  I 
can't really think of any offhand.  	
	By the way, that pun was TERRIBLE, and I loved it!! ;> And 
you're little addition was great, Gyrfalcon! 
	I found out, thanks to the abbreviations list from Chen Chen, 
that ObMisty means Obligatory Misty, whoever was looking for it.  That's 
the one I wondered about, too.

German/English/French mixed.  My name is Angela Leone Bennett.   I don't know
what Bennett means, but I think it is French.  Angela and Leone are both
French in origin.  Angela mean angel or messanger.  Leone is lioness(feminine
form of Leon).  Its been in the family for at least three generations.  I
used to hate Angela but I've reconsidered.

actually, its lifebond;P ye' know, I never even THOUGHT of 
SOlaris/Tremane.....but it could very well happen. We'll have to see if 
we're ever privy to her thoughts. Would be more ironic, but, imo, 
firesong/tremane was more foreshadowed. And I think they would have 
clicked or something when solaris visted tremane, andwe woulda known 
since it was from tremane's perspective. Also, for who asked, we don't 
know if tremane is shaych, and, in fact, he mentions little flings with 
women, but remember..it was never love, just a function.....
