Someone like to pass along >the addy > Here's the original message about that interview for you. Hey all, The Baen books website has a short interview with Misty about her book _Fire Rose_. The address is http://www.baen.com/ and the interview is available from the front page. (It also has a place to order books, plus a publication schedule). The interview is short, and devoted to her reasons/purposes in writing FR. Sharon PS: I had suspected from the title Firebird that maybe it would be related to FR, but she says in the interview that she doubts she will do a book with those characters again. The SERRAted Edge series is allright, I guess.. still just a little too overdone or something. preachy-adult-trying-to-say-"I-know-what-the-world-is-like" And I happen to *be* 15.... Bards has a lousy plot line, anyway, in the first place, though. Bedlam Bards was nice (but I seem to notice Kory sporting a name from that series...) ; I'm not sure how to take tying in Bedlam Bards into SERRA, though. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Jul 1996 23:58:55 -0400 From: DebMats-+AT+-aol.com To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: newbie, names... It was wool, it was velvet, it was black, it was half-price from $400, and it's my only good winter coat (yes it was still too expensive!). I certainly liked them better than the Bard Tales books (which were boooring and rather poorly written) and definitely better than the Free Bards books (Wren and Co etc). *grin* Chrome Circle is something of a favourite of mine actually. :) Oh - and Cennyd - I've read a fair amount of Japanese Folk-tales and I have yet to see an evil Kitsune (Fox-lady - they're always female in the tales). As for only one variety of Gaki being harmful to the soul (and one drinking blood / eating flesh) - Di Tregarde makes that exact same point in CoTN - she says that the myths say that most of them are harmless nuisances, just as you said. Grant Misty a liiiittle poetic licence but she does seem to research that sort of thing quite well. :) To the Wiccans out there - can anyone tell me who wrote the book "The Spiral Dance"? Wow.. you guys make it sound like it's something rare and mysterious. Where I grew (Cairns, Far North Queensland, Australia) it was standard stuff for muscle and ligament strains. Whenever we got hurt as kids (which is quite often when you try and go bmx (cycle) riding down the sides of very steep rough hills and go horse riding and swimming and general stuff), it'd be either Tiger Balm or Deep Heat. Most households had it.. The latter, DH is actually better for bruised muscles (which is what I tended to get) but TB is very good for strained muscles or sprains. I guess we're closer to Asia here than you folk in the US. :) Cheers, Kerry. Wow, pretty impressive ShadowL.. :) Stefen doesn't really count since we don't see through his eyes much at all. OTOH, I don't think we will get a Bard - Misty's done enough Bard stuff to last a lifetime. (Is it just me or would it drive others crazy to have to work Bardic magic.. I mean, I like music - I play it, heck I've even created a bit, but I can readily imagine sitting down and wishing that just for once I could just damn well do some magic without futzing around with instruments and melody - particularly in the situation where something with big teeth was jumping at me.) :) I'd like to see a Mind-Speaker who actually used their power effectively. Kero was a bit of a disappointment that way - I mean, she's the one who's forever teaching people to use whatever weapons at hand - and how often would it have been useful to just take over someone's mind the way a powerful Mind-Speaker can, in a critical situation..
