IS IT? *big gryn* No, actually, I did like the one book in that series (that I remember :) ), _Chrome Circle_, but not for the fast cars parts...those were the parts that I had to stop from skipping over, but at least they were short. Oh, BTW, in the ridiculous death category, something that was reported in my paper today: A man was out fishing. He yawned, and while he was yawning, a fish jumped into his mouth, and he choked to death on it. I wouldn't mind getting a copy.. Thanks. :) My reply: You can get it in B. Dalton Booksellers, or Waldenbooks or Books-A-Million; just make sure you get the 10th anniversary edition, because it's a bit expanded and fixes some things from the 1st edition. The author's name is 'Starhawk'. It's a really nice book; sensible, practical, and written in non-technical English. She's got some nice dibs of humor in there, too. I like the SERRAted Edge books, myself; I accept the car stuff as integral background, just as the fighting/magic/training is in the Tarma/Kethry and Kerowyn stories. I don't see them as being particularly 'juvenile' books, not when they're dealing with child abuse and cult brainwashing. Haven't read the Bedlam Bard series (~is~ this a series?) yet, but just because I haven't gotten my hands on them - yet! (I've been shuffling furniture around, so as to make the most use of walls as supports for bookcases, and have finally figured out how to set up the equipment in my workroom so as to have a 60"x60" workspace for cutting out material, sewing, playing CCGs, assembling puzzles, creating splendid messes, etc. This also means that I can now put all the books and magazines and toys and puzzles in nice neat stacks and rows along those walls...and get started on the weeding-out and cataloging!) I have to admit; I like the feel of having a book in my hands when I read, but for portability and saving-from-a-fire-ability, give me books on CDs! If I could get my library on CDs (and it'd take a meduim-sized suitcase to do it, at this point) and have my records and stories and files on CDs/floppies (another small suitcase), that'd make it a whole lot simpler in case of fire - wouldn't have to wonder which ten books I'd grab! Just 3 cases out the window (one for clothes, photos, and my best Tarot deck), and I'm outta there, complete with Teddi Bhaer! Everything else is insured, and replaceable... I got to meet Andre Norton back in 1977, and she is one totally cool lady! One of the thing I liked best about her house was that it was wall-to-wall cats and floor-to-ceiling books... Can't have the cats (landlord no-no), but I'm working on the books! Yes St. Cecilia is the patron saint of musicians. I only know this because a friend of mine had a St.Cecilia pendant when I was in band.
