I ended up sitting outside, on the trunk of a car, in the rain, because I couldn't stand to be inside the madhouse any longer. My mom's brothers and sister were driving me up the wall! The hilarious part is that my mom came out and joined me for a while. She needed a breather too! So we just sat there and got wet and let our shoulders relax down to their normal positions (we both have problems with rising shoulders when we are stressed). Of course, when we finally went back in, my aunt became unhinged because we were wet and she was sure that we would do our health a mischief. >>>Well, big families are typical in our family so right now I think there are 6 or 7 core groups with about 15 - 20 memebers in each group. Oddly enough, I found those reunions (the Weimer ones) to be much less stressful. I guess it is cause my mom's family is mostly very blue-collar urban (which is odd since they are all white-collar workers) while my dad's family is old-time farm folks. I find that really old-fashioned farming families tend to be a lot less stressful than modern urban working class. -----EOM On Wed, 10 Jul 1996, Miyako-san wrote: BOM>>>Subject: Re: Names >>>Okey-dokey, I thought Michael was the one who defeated the REBEL ANGELS! Burning Water references Di running to the airport in Connecticut and dumping her book in the Fed-Ex box at the airport in a rush. She also mentions a "boyfriend who wonders why she won't get serious with him" (presumably Andre, because she doesn't mention anyone else). Jinx High *does* mention Andre ("Oh, *you're* Andre") and Connecticut in specific... so again: why did she move out of the perfect flat in NYC to Connecticut if the flat in NYC was so perfect? - Sal %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% % % % Somebody should have labeled the future 'Some Assembly Required.' % % % % - Michael Garibaldi % % % % Here's to the Assembly Line! % % % % - Sal Robertson % % % %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Jul 1996 16:00:25 -0500 From: Tammy Harris To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-vanyel.herald.co.uk Subject: This, that, and the other Message-ID: <2CD312E1316-+AT+-medicine.dmed.iupui.edu> Bright Goddess!! When I left work on Monday, I was all caught up on my mail. I didn't make it in yesterday, so today, I came in to over 270 messages. ACK!! While reading those and running my assay (that *is* what they pay me for, after all), over 30 more arrived! What's come over you? I only missed one day...... ====================================================== re: Lifebonds, Lady Thess wrote: > (And no, I'm not waiting > forever, nor do I really care if I ever get married, as far as being in a > relationship goes, "living in sin" does me fine, I've seen too many failed > marriages to want to get married to anyone but MY lifebonded, and I'm not > certain that my sweetie IS my lifebonded. How do you tell in mundane life? > Is anyone on the list with their lifebonded? YES!! People keep asking me when I'm getting married, or ask if I have anything to *tell* them. (Or they try to be subtle and check my hand for a ring. (FYI--there isn't one)) Anyway, how do you tell if you've met the one for you? You may feel that this person is for you, but how do you **know**? (Yeah, I seem to be waiting for a sign from a god or something. What is it Kethry screams at Tarma, "Stop asking for bloody omens!") So, what do all of you think? How do you know? I'd really like to know. For those of you who haven't met "The One", how do you think you will know? =================================================== re: Tremane, Korendil wrote: > THat is, of course, if somehow misty glided over the for now missing > click between tremane and solaris when she paid him that little visit, > and charliss is still alive...its very possible he's died, either from > the storms or from civil war...and, well, he shoudla known what tremane'd > do if he didn't contact him. Charliss is/was a smart man..he should be > able to put his knowledge to use. Charliss is a smart man, but he had no way of knowing the storms were coming, that all forms of magic were going to be scrambled and nearly impossible. And that the gates, and all the forms of communication they relied, on would thus be unusable. The Empire relied very heavily on magic, so I'm sure it's in great turmoil right now. Even if Charliss has time to *think* about Tremane, he certainly doesn't have time to try and figure out what he's doing. When Solaris showed up at Tremane's, she was in the midst of a tirade, and he was just plain stunned. Neither one was in a condition to notice the click if there was one. ====================================================== re: Eddings, Sal wrote: > Personally, and no offense to Eddings, the Belgariad was a great series. > The Mallorean was essentailly the Belgariad revisited (and even Eddings > admitted that it was a cyclical thing, and the cycle wasn't done because > they'd done something wrong the first time...??! I agree. Bad enough to reuse the plot from the Belgariad in the Mallorean. At least he had a "reason" (read, excuse). But to reuse essentially the same plot and characters in the Elenium, well, that's why I said not to bother with it. Just MO, of course. ====================================================== re: Names, Cennydd wrote a long list of names.
