From what I've read, it seems as though most of you all are divided between 14 & 15 yr.olds and people over 20. Anybody out there my age (18)? Furthermore, did anyone actually enjoy the SERRAted Edge books? I kind of did. My reply: Hi, Ami, and you, too, Summersong! Welcome to the Madhouse! Any serious gaffe-committing will be kindly pounced upon, usually politely, so don't worry too much about it. Just follow Auntie Mel's Nettiquette rules and have fun. As for age, I suspect physical age has nothing whatsoever to do with internal age; I'm 40+, but feel more like 18-20 (except for the arthritis), with occasional bouts of serious maturity. I ~do~ enjoy the SERRAted Edge books; don't worry about the cars and racing, they're just background. The stories are still about people, not cars and racing. As for Sayvil/Savil reincarnation, she's the only Companion I know of who's been mentioned by name as a reincarnation. Does anyone else know of any Companions who can be identified as reincarnations-of, based on name similarities? Perhaps the word 'fey' is being taken too literally in this instance. In reference to the phrase "...suspected he was fey..." (I don't have the book in front of me for anything more exact), the word 'fey' may be an attempt by Lackey to indicate homosexual by creating a local lingo/slang. I say attempt since I can't read her mind and have no idea if she intended the above supposition or not. As support for the supposition, I present the usage of the word 'gay' which we all use now to indicate a homosexual man. This usage did not come into existence until 1956 (according to Websters) and the original meaning of 'gay' was 'happily excited'. Additionally, gay men have been steroetyped as effeminate (a pansy?). Thus, Lackey may be using fey to indicate homosexual, since there is much discussion about Vanyel being a clothes-horse and 'too dainty'. Withen very much wants to make Vanyel a 'man', so the fey term would be a reference to how Withen though homosexuals were like or just a touch of Vanyel era lingo. Just another take on the situation. I hate when things like that happen, I get all edgy until I know everyone I know is all right. Anything that causes massive damage scares the living daylights out of me. I know someone who worked in the federal building in OK and I didn't find out until a couple of days later that he was alive, but hurt pretty bad. As soon as they said Bertha was a hurricane and headed this way, I started thinking please go away I don't want it to come here and possibly hurt someone I care about. Okay, I'm done now, I'm calm. Undine, the wonderful bookshop owner he/she (sorry I don't know which) told me that it is due out in October, but to start looking in September because sometimes the books are published early.
