Numerous people have asked me privately what I need help with in the FAQ. Well, I'm tackling it one big part at a time. Part one -- Books. I've read almost all of Misty's stuff, but not every single book. Mostly, it's the one shot collabs I haven't read, and some the SERRAted Edge stuff. What I want to do is put in a short one or two paragraph summary of each book. SOOOoooooo ...... Those of you out there that want to help: If you've read a Misty collab, send me a short paragraph or two describing it. I don't have the money to buy all of her new books. These short summaries will be the backbone of the section, and specific questions will follow after each book. DON'T SEND ME VELGARTH ONES since I'm almost done with those: if you really REALLY want to do one, do the Mage Wars or the Mage Storms or Mage Winds books. But if you do, please do them book by book; I'm breaking them down that way, and a post that describes ALL three books is about as useful as a bathing suit in Antartica. Stuff like THE SHIP WHO SEARCHED or REDISCOVERY or THE ELVENBLOOD or IF I PAY THEE NOT IN GOLD will be terrific! I'm going to wind up writing any ones that aren't completed. And, of course, I'm going to credit the people who write it. I'm going to correct the posts for grammar and spelling, and make them fit into a cohesive whole, so it may not be word for word, and I may combine if people send me duplicates. I >>really<< need the one shots Misty's done. Those I definitely haven't read all of. The short stories and stuff are merely going to be listed, except for "Sword Sworn" from S and S III, which is going in with THE OATHBOUND and OATHBREAKERS. I thank people in advance for their help. Best deal: if you want to help, get them to me ASAP. End of the month/beginning of August would be good. Any questions please email me personally. Merry Meet, and Merry Part, and Mary Tyler Moore... The sequel to Castle of Deception, written by Josepha Sherman, is called The Chaos Gate and is not part of the "Bard's Tale" series (I guess it'd be the 4th if it was). Bard's Tale has Castle of Deception, Fortress of Frost and Fire, and Prison of Souls. Josepha Sherman just liked one of the characters in Castle of Deception and decided to write about him, I guess. Hmmm. Well, at the risk of sounding sententious: An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Particularly when, as in this case, the pound of cure is totally useless. Yes, Vanyel felt guilty and he went out and hunted down Leareth. I don't really think that that in any way excuses or redeems him. Savil died, alone and frightened, because Van wouldn't listen to her. Whatever he did afterwords, to assuage his guilt, didn't bring her back and it didn't ease her pain as she died. Oh, well. I guess when you get right down to it, that is part of the genius of Misty. Forget family reunions--do you have any idea what it's like just getting my immediate family together?! Some years, my parents are friends, other years, they're hardly speaking. And gods forbid I don't spend enough time with one of them..... They weigh and measure the silliest things. One year, I couldn't make it home for Father's Day, so I asked if I could move it back one week. The first words out of his mouth were, "well, what would your mother say if you did this to her?" When I told him I did it *every* year, he said okay. Or worse, when they play tug-of-war, and we're the rope. And the prize. Humph. You mean the one where Kethry has the sudden dramatic appearance in the final confrontation between Tremane and Charliss? Where she sacrifices herself for peice, and then the star-eyed and vkandis make her and tarma their cheif spirit-aides? Thatw as SUCH a cool book..just loved the way Misty intertwined the serie's, with Skandranon's ghost, Stef and Van playing a duet for Selenay, the previously mentioned Kethry intervention, Kris suffocating all the other Imperial heirs under wreathes of Maiden's Hope, Gwena revealing she's really Baron Valdemar ( I mean, we all know now that Grove born aren't NEW comapnions, just reincarnated rulers), and An'desha and Daren falling madly in love after Selnay's heart attack..sigh...or wait, am I thinking of the fourth book in LHM? It get's *so* confusing.... "JAAAAAAKE!!!!!" she wails, then quickly pulls herself together and sends a mindcall to the Ladies and Champions in Green, dispatching them to Florida, known to be the hiding place of TMIW. "And that damned Bird better not know anything about this, or....." she swears to herself. Tammy sends Mat a quick mind message, warning him that TMIW were active again.
