Welcome Back Scarlett O'hara, I thought I was going crazy, I've been in classes (work-related) all summer so I've only been scanning the digests, so this afternoon I decided to at least read one of them so I started with the last one in my mailbox, much too my surprise 2 people said hello to me. Since I didn't recognize any of the email addressses I thought it would be prudent to check out some of the earlier digests, and as you can see I finally found out why people were saying Hello to me, (well actually to you) . You usually have two people who start things off, and then others jump in, on one side or another. All the story bits are kept on a separate list from the mailing list, and the fighting isn't ~real~ - no one is trying to be ~genuinely~ nasty to each other - we're just playing with personas and silliness. IMO, I think that because Van was in the "spirit" world, he didn't have to worry about physical limitations. I would think that he wouldn't have to refuel himself for mage power because he doesn't have a body anymore. Well, the first Herald-Mage, IMO, would have to be King Valdemar himself, since he was the first chosen Herald. They would have been taught by the Empire, (I think, guessing here). Also, because of the mage-barrier, including the vrondi, that Van erected around Valdemar, magic became hard for people to even think about. I would think that any person who had the mage-gift in Valdemar during the years after Van would have had to go to OutKingdom to get trained, or his gift would never be taught. Elspeth had to go to the Tayledra to to train her gift. It's the mailing list but it contains 20-25 messages so you get them all at once (usually with this group 3-4/day). It slows down some responses, but it also helps to keep track of what has been asked for last couple of weeks (then I delete them) unless it's something of Jake's (i.e., humor, songs, top-10 lists, etc.). I just knew going to Cleveland this weekend would be fun, but forgot the 6 digests I'd have when I got back. Jake LOVED the game, this one's a keeper too!!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Aug 1996 14:26:41 EST From: "Jenna Wilson" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: An'talyah, hi! Just you look out when I get a sense of humor (there just might be little Green Cats pouncing everywhere you look. ) Oh, dear--I s'pose this means I need an ObMisty (for our newer members, that's an obligatory reference to Misty in an otherwise off-topic post). ObMisty: Okay, kinda' corny, but then, y'all already knew I was a sap! There's been talk lately about not needing a wedding ceremony, especially in Velgarth. Well, that's all fine and dandy, but I *like* weddings. And I want Misty to write Elspeth and Darkwind's formal wedding. She's the daughter of the Queen, and the first of the new Herald-Mages. They'd have to have one, and I wanna' see it. Can you just imagine Starblade and Selenay meeting for the first time? Vree stealing the wedding ring? And just what kind of ceremony would they have? (A Valdemaran priest and the Tayledras who did the oath-sib ceremony?) "I now pronounce you husband and wife and bird and hor....er Companion" Gotta' go! What if Rolan was eight months pregnant and Selenay needed Talia to make an impromptu diplomatic mission in high summer? Or what if Someone attacked Talia and only Rolan was there to help? Pregnancy might be a problem then. As for Talia being pregnant, i don't believe that Misty wrote anything about how she handled it. I think she had Jemmie inbetween BTS and WOF. Does this clarify it some? :) Ami ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 745 *********************************
