I did not say that Xena was a terrible series in and of itself. (Lucy Lawless! *drool*) Context! Context! *grin* If you people took a closer look at the whole paragraph, I was saying that I wouldn't WANT a Tarma and Kethry series to BE an AbFab (which, was funny, even though I think AbFab is not) series, but something like a Xena series--except I would want it to be serious. And if it wound up like Xena it would be ICK.. just because I don't want to see Misty's characters done that way. I did not say that the ICK-ness of it was a quality of Xena, but a quality of the comparison. I don't watch Xena because I'm interested in the plot--I watch it because it's campy. Ask 'Reesa.. she hears me every now and then talk about it. (And the costumes! Talk about putting the fantasy in Fantasy! *giggle*) I did like the old Batman series, Diana. *pout* Don't assume things like that. > Imagine defying gravity and beating up nasty-bad men for a living. . . :D Indeed. And not to sound terrible, but, we got the Hercules and Xena TOYS in the other day. Talk about defying gravity! It looks.. so hilarious. I may buy a Xena doll for myself just because it looks so amusing.. -- Whomever asked about Bippy, it's that I made up the character, in the humor file. And after I made up the character, a certain listmember who shall remain nameless thought he was an actual character in the books. That was amusing. We then were talking about fake book scenes or something. That was amusing. It kind of snowballed from there, and people don't know to just drop it. Especially since when newbies come in we have to waste time and tell a whole story. This ain't no Holy Anorankh legend here... *sigh* And he's mine! :( I can't even make jokes about him now, because it's getting campy. Don't mail me about Bippy personally, I really regret I ever made it up. Yes, Patrick Stewart does have a great voice, but it's no where near as great as James Earl Jones. Now, that's a voice that I could listen to forever! No matter what he was reading (yes, even Xanth books ;) <*weg*>) or saying. Now, my mother and I were talking about the casting thing, and about how hard it is to find a person to play Van, and she though of Johnny Dep(p?) I think that would be okay, think of him in Edward Scissorhands, that swet young innocent thing, and he could probably pull off a really good arrogant attitude, whatcha think? I absolutely love James Earl Jones, too. He could read the dictionary to me, and I'd still keep on listening. As for Van, I don't kno. Van tended to brood a lot, and I don't think Johnny Depp seems like the overly-introspective type. Anyway, right now I'm drawing a blank. On an aside, I see Kevin Costner as some character (even though he's not my favorite) possibly Darkwind. Any thoughts? Btw, I'm glad you're friend is OK. I know I've been in lurk mode for *quite* a while, and I decided to come out and actually post something. Usually too busy at work to do anything but just read all the "interesting" conversations! The great news is that I'm going to go see Heather Alexander tonight live! She's going to be singing at "St. Michael's Alley" in Palo Alto, Ca. So, if anyone is interested, just send me some private e-mail. It's from 9pm-11pm. Also, I found a list of her touring schedule at her private webpage... just put in "Heather Alexander" in the search engine! ****************************************************************************** Alisa wrote: > ObMisty: If brown eyes go blue with node magic, and grey eyes stay grey, then > what about blue/grey or green/grey ones, do they go blue or what? > Started wondering about that a few weeks ago. > Ailsa. Hmm.. that's a good question... By grey, do you mean silver, like Vanyel's? 'Cause IIRC, I don't think there's mention of anyone with grey eyes. If someone had blue/grey, I would think that their eyes would probably stay the same color. But, if the someone had green/gray ones I think the green would change color, the grey would stay the same, so the person would end up with blue/grey eyes just like the first person. I hope this all makes sense! :) ****************************************************************************** Ok, after all the discussion that's been made recently about the best "Valdemar filk"... it sounds like everyone has enjoyed Shadowlover (I think I've got that mixed up, you know what I mean!), and behind that Oathbreakers. Now, I've heard mixed opinions about HH&H, what does everybody think... should I go out and buy it from Firebird? And BTW, I'm starting to get on a first name basis with the people there at Firebird... bye, bye paycheck! (I think I should probably set up direct deposit). BTW, has anyone bought any of the jewlery from Firebird? I've already bought the hair wrap (feather on a decorated thong thingy), but has anyone bought anything else. How's the quality of the earrings, etc.... Thanks! :) ************************************ * "Now beauty held in bondage * **#**Lady Crysania**#** * is beauty that is lost... * aka "Amy" * and all the gold I cherish * amason-+AT+-stmarys-ca.edu * is sunlight bright and clear." * * - Vanyel, "Demonsbane" * ************************************ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Aug 1996 12:17:22 -0400 From: Barbara Slater To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Pern/lifebonds - Reply Message-ID: Oops, thanks for the catch, Linda - you're right, it was ~Brekke~ who lost her queen and survived with F'nor's and the dragonkin's help, not Mirrim. It's been too long since I read them, if I can get that badly mixed up! (Looks like I'll be on Pern this weekend...) IIRC (and I'm not sure I do), Moreta's queen hung on until after Impression, and then went /between/ with the retired queenrider (I'm sorry, but I cannot remember names today - was it Holth that Moreta was riding on the last part of her flight?). From what I've gathered from Moreta and from the DLGP, the dragon survive his/her rider's death for long, if at all, because of the immediacy of the dragon's memory. Is this the impression ~you've~ gotten from those sources, or am I reading more into it than is there? AFAIK, Larry Warner is only on HH&H, Oathbound, and Duane Elms' "St. Elmo's Fire". =========================================================================== > From: Jake > On a related post, what happened to Jake Gipple aka McCafferrey's White > Dragon / White X-Dragon?
