Sorry Kory..:) Mirror spell...I just read that part...IIRC (me-+AT+-boyfriend's house, book-+AT+-my house) Keth said that she took that spell from a technique the Heralds use to keep a Herald trainee with a projective gift under control. I read this not too long ago, yee gods, my memory is going. The mirror is cast over the trainee so that anything they project comes right back at them, so they understand what they're doing. Keth adapted it into a real magical sheild for Idra's evil brother's mages to keep them from attacking. Any attack they made would end up right back in their faces, even spells to find the weak point of the spell. I believe that was it. Heather Alexander is a great filk and folk singer. She has a couple of solo albums out (with another comming out very soon). You know those lyrics in the back of Magic's Price? Well, she sings each of them on a tape called "Shadow Stalker: Songs of Vanyel's Time". She's a favorite singer of those on the list. ============================================================================ Summersong wrote: > She's a filk singer. Altho, I can't remember whether the tea is claimed to absolutely destroy the headache; it would probably take the edge off a migraine-like headache, and the magick probably takes a specific amount of time to dissipate, unlike a migraine which can go on for days, or even weeks. You don't necessarily have to love the pother person to lifebonded to them. They do love each other in that sisterly family sort of way. I remember Stefen talking to NYara and Skif telling them that lovebonds just strengthen the lifebond, and you don't have to be lovebonded to be lifebonded. I think it is a lifebond in a way, not the kind we're used to, but still something like it. About the thingy about migraines and reaction headaches and such, I always though that reaction headaches were *really* bad headaches, but not quite migraines. In Magic's Price, Stefen plays for Bard what's her name (the head of the collegium, Breda I think) to get rid of her dazzle headaches (I think that' what they call them ) They talk about how she sits in the dark rooms, and can't bear the lights. Now, those sound like migraines to me. Things that nothing could cure except for Stefen's playing, even the willowbark tea. BTW, has anyone ever tried to make tea out of willowbark? :) Hi all! My first week of school was great, I love my classes, but it is a really hard class load. I failed my first history test on Friday, aren't you all proud of me? ;) Almost the whole class did, we weren't quite sure of what to study, I suppose that it didn't help that I barely read the chapter that morning in psychology huh? My feet are hurting like they've never hurt before. I just got my pointe shoes this week, and those things are pretty darn painful. I'm still trying to figure out how the heck I'll ever be able to dance in the darn things, right now all I can do is stand in one place on toe, I'm afraid I'll kill myself if I try anything else ;) Oh well, everyone warned me that they would be rough on the feet, and I though they were just exagerrating, stupid me. Anyways, i'm off to soak my feet in epsom salt, talk to you all later!! Does it work better than tylenol? I had always though it was something Misty made up, well, you learn something new everyday ;) (hee-hee) Now, another question, do they only use willowbark tea for reaction headaches, or for any headaches in Velgarth? Okay, it's almost one in the morning, and I have to be up early tommorow, I guess I should probably go to sleep now. Sweet dreams everyone! (Actually, considering when most of you will actually read this, have a great day would be more appropriate) I'll shut up now. Bye! In fact, it has the same active ingredient that Aspirin has. Salicylic Acid is a derivative of willowbark (Salix is the latin for willow). As far as I know, people have been using it for centuries, possibly millenia. I don't know how effective it is. I imagine that it depends on the method used to extract the salicylic acid from the bark. I assume that a decoction is the best technique. I have never used it, so I can't say. Incorrect exercising, martial-arts training, etc., can bring those on. BLECH! Yes, it's real, yes, it does work, to variying degrees, on headaches and minor cramps and things. And yes, it tastes like something that came from the north end of a south-bound Companion. A word of warning here too. If, for some strange and unkowable reason, you wish to pour this vile concotion down your throat, DO NOT COLLECT THE BARK YOURSELF! Get some from an herbal store, or your natural food store. Unless you know what you're doing, you can wind up with bark that has other types of spores and mold on it. If you brew it up with them on it, you can get yourself very sick. Certain types of spores can cause asmhatic like reactions in most people, and that's a very Bad Thing . Sorry if this sounds like I'm trying to be your mother, but I know people who've become very sick from mucking round with herbs when they didn't know what they were doing. Herbs are fun, and if you learn about them, they can be as, if not more, helpful, then their modern equivalents. (IMNSHO) But on the whole, it's better to buy them from a reliable store than go out collecting them yourself, at least at first. *Climbs off soapbox and realizes it's been ages since she used one* _____Lady 'Reesa_____mrtmh-+AT+-primenet.com_____ You can set the controls for the heart or the knees And the meek'll inherit what they damn well please Go ahead, go figure, go ahead and pull the trigger Everything under the gun...
