Because my rumor source says they're the SAME age. I found it on a bio page that was linked out of *someone's* page here - there was a "hey go lookee my new page" posted recently, I did, I followed a link to a "bio", and there was one for ML and one for LD. It said she was born 1940, and he 1966 - I can't find that link now, so no textevd I'm afraid - altho' someone here did agree with the dates when I first mailed this. > Larry don't look young in that photo in the back of Storm Whatever... He ain't - he's 30, and believe you me, one can look fairly raddled at 30, ;) *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ HtH threw out a challenge: > Go ahead; if you don't believe me, give me any influential male Misty > character (all my work has been on the Velgarth books, but I'm sure it > applies to the others, too), and I'll show you how he fits into this > whole dynamic. Well, it I could only remember his name - Doodit that lived with Whatsit, that were friends of Sayvil (or Savil - the human, not the hoss). Now as to which one I mean - I don't mean the one who was Tallo(???), once brown haired and normal, becoming white haired, blue eyed and Tayledras (???? - my brain is in "no-name" mode this afternoon)- the other one. He was fairly together wasn't he? Kris - okay had a bit of the "all women want me" syndrome, but was fairly together - knew what he wanted, enjoyed a bit of decent nooky when the opportunity arose (g), look at how he handled, err, dealt with Talia after she'd half drowned him - instead of getting ratty and offended he just got randy. Sounds ok to me? Van's cousin - the one who asked intelligent questions, and his brother Medren - both ok, mind you, randy Destria got her come uppance didn't she? Spot the moral message there, boys and girls. HTH also wrote: > Then he bonds with plain, cerebral Natoli, and they have a cuddly, plain, > sexless little relationship. I found that relationship too twee, I *know* they're only young, but I kept wanting him to try and put his hand up her blouse, and her to flounce off, or her to tear her shirt open and welcome him in for a nuzzle. L L Modestri who writes the Recluse/Order War books obviously has a thing about tough, capable *mature* ladies taking up with younger blokes. He's done it twice now - in The Magic of Recluse , and in the Magic Engineer - and handled it fairly well. Wouldn't it have been great if Kero *had* carried Karal off to her lair for a spot of personal induction? Ah me, the lost opportunities! *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ re: Gwenna - interesting how when they all arrive in Sorrows or wherever Van has hijacked them to, Yfandes, who *isn't* grove born, takes Gwenna off for what one presumes is a right bo*****ing. I think this "She's very young" argument is a bit weak - so was Baron Valdemar's companion when it staggered out of the Grove. I think she's got a personality problem, will have when she's been around the loop a few dozen times, and that's that. *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ Julie, > As to Misty not showing anyone taking care of babies, giving birth or being > pregnant, is it possible that she doesnt write about those things because > she has never done it herself? Maybe she just didn't want any - not everyone does. > Anyway, we're hoping you folks can settle an arguement. In Storm Rising, > someone said that Valdemar was being considered by the Star-Eyed as one big > clan. Does this mean the people of Valdemar can have battlesteeds? I say > no, he says yes. Help! I would say no - the Tayledras don't have 'em, and I bet the K'***sha whatevers don't. The Battle steeds are specific to the Shin'a'in only - not all the Star Eyed's people. *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ Barbara was askin' why such a big deal was made in Arrows 'bout Gwenna being Grove born: As I see it, when Elspeth was chosen the ban on magic being spoken off was still in place, and nobody knew then that our Elspeth was special. If they'd known she had a Grove Born companion, they'd have started asking questions that weren't ready to be answered. Also, maybe she was too young and un-tested to be allowed to know she had a special companion - can't you hear the Brat, "MY companion's better than yours, mine's special and so am I, nya na na na nah" She needed to grow up a bit. Mind you, I think Gwenna and Co. left her a bit long. *+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+*+ Dayna, > Then again, when you have Adepts and supernatural allies and whatnot who > are willing to meddle on your behalf .... I quite fancy a whatnot meddling on *my* behalf actually - altho' I must confess that I'm not totally sure where my behalf is. Now all we seem to get are gaming cons and Star Trek cons (I could scream that World Con fell so close to the birth of my son that I couldn't go, although my sister-in-law did attend.). I've heard mutterings about a DragonCon West, but nothing ever seems to materialize. >As for readin' and writing, I seem to remember that the Dean at the time >of Talia's Choosing, was vastly relieved to head that she could read.... I think that was because of the Border region that she came from. I'm under the impression that most noble children are tutored by private instructors. Others are taught by parents/craftspeople who possess skills necessary to do whatever the child is being trained as before becoming a Herald. And everyone else is pretty much out of luck in the education category.
