It just isn't a home until the books, unicorns and pictures are out. I just went and counted and we have 100 shelves of books total. Heart tree = Heart stone. They are accessing theley lines of the groves. Notice though, even if the high court elves could survive on their own, they won't leave their lesser endowed cousins to their deaths. The hawkbrothers in a way, have the same philosophy, they take care of all the twisted magic to provide for humans and animals who can't take care of themselves. Thus thoses with the higher "developement" have the responsibility to care for the less able. It seems to me that all ML books have that same undercurring (is this a word?)theme. What's awful is that I forgot it was coming out until I went into the bookstore the otehr day and saw it...and of course I have no money (like many of you), so I have to wait for my library to get. they're usually pretty good about getting books, so I shouldn't have to wait too long...(which is good, because if I don't get it soon, I'm not sure what I'll do... As for who Florian is...maybe, umm, Lendel/Stef decided to leave the forest and get reincarnated as a Companion and hence, Florian. Just a totally wild guess that probably doesn't make much sense. Someone mentioned a song called "Dark Lover" on a Tempest CD...I was wondering if anyone could send me the lyrics to it, privately of course...we don't want to upset Mel, now do we? But that's because there's only four books.. if she extends it, I'm sure the flaws will shine. ===== I would like to make an on list apology. Kenny pointed out to me that the Navajo religious beliefs ARE labelled witchcraft, from their own religious standpoint. I did not intend to discredit those beliefs.. I assumed witchcraft was an alternate label that outsiders put on. And no, Ken, I did not take you as discrediting Wiccans at all (I understood what you meant.. I just disagreed with the usage of the term "witchcraft.") I'm positive the young man that I'm remembering is from somewhere in there, and I just don't think it's 'Lendel. Also, the person has to be dead or he wouldn't be Florian, so that lets out most of the young men from the later books, probably why I thought he was from LHM. But maybe he was someone contemporary with Tarma and Kethry . . . **** Arielle, Thanks for the note on my QO newsletter! I've lost your e-mail address, though. What "family photos" did I forget to send (I have three or four in .gif format ;->)? And if you're who I think you are (considering that I get over 500 messages per day, it's sometimes hard to keep track of everyone), I got the two photos you sent open just fine. YEE-HAA - I'm contagious!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay about the virtual faire thingie and the key chains, I am still working on both. If anyone that has no clue what I am talking about, e-mail me privately at mishi-+AT+-prolog.net and I'll fill you in. I am terribly sorry about the delay with both these things but any time I think I have free time, something comes up to do. Right now I'm in the middle of writing a through description of the procedures of bundling (that's what I did, now I train people to do it), tips to help the bundlers work more efficently, filling out saftey analysis papers in order to create a safer work enviroment, employee progess reports, training two (soon to be three) people on a shift I am not used to working (7pm - 7am, and if I get out of ther by 7:30 I'm lucky), and training another person to be a trainer for the night shifts so I can go back to day shift. ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! If someone happens to have seen my life please let me know. The strange and sick thing is I love this new job. I'm 25 years old and I part of the management. My boss choose me to do this job, instead of someone older. That really makes me feel good about myself. Sorry had to say it. Okay, I just heard something that really pissed me off. SOmeone in Norrth Carolina ( I think anyway ) was told they could not hold a public office because he is an aethist and it is a requirement of the job that you believe in God. What does that have to do with anything! What you can't do you job properly if you don't believe in God. A person's beliefs have nothing to do with how they can do a job. Well, unless of course they are preists or nuns or somesuch, but that is a completely differnet thing. Susposedly it is a law that a person must believe in God in order to hold a public office. I don't know the whole story it was just mentioned in passing in the news but the whole thing is stupid. Sometimes I reallt think that this world is getting more and more screwed up everyday. That's it for now. To: Subject: initials/Buckland/laundrette Message-ID: <03OCT96.25203121.0172.MUSIC-+AT+-ACADEMIC.TRUMAN.EDU> Okay. I give. GGK is Guy Gavriel Kay. KK is Katherine Kurtz. PK-M is Patricia Kenneally-Morrison. Who the bloody &#$%!! is JT? I know I'm going to feel like a big moron when I hear the answer, but right now, I'm just blank. The closest I can come is Jennifer Roberson, which is obviously wrong. Raymond Buckland wrote The Complete Book of Witchcraft or some such thing. I have a copy, but I didn't get anything out of it. Definitely one of those books that I'd recommend if you're rich and looking for a complete collection of perspectives and writings on the subject, but otherwise, no, I'd say skip it. Buckland was very important in the early Craft movement, but I think his writing is seriously dated. It just doesn't mesh with what I've found to be the goals and ideas of most modern neopagans. You guys seem to have had quite a blow-out on this religion issue while I was gone, but I think you can come out from behind the couch now. I haven't noticed anyone being anything less than perfectly civil, nor is anyone saying "x is what you should believe," nor "you're dumb if you believe x." I think we're working and playing very well with others. And yes, the original person did ask for responses by private e-mail (which I sent by private e-mail, thank you), but several other people chimed in wanting some of the same information. If you must justify it, say that a good, basic understanding of Wicca enhances one's understanding of the Diana Tregarde books (CotN *happens* to be probably my favorite Misty book after the LHM trilogy, thankyouverymuch). I think that's true. Or we could start a discussion comparing Wiccan ethics to the values in Misty's writings, or the Wiccan concept of deity to the portrayals of goddesses and gods in Velgarth. I'm a little tired tonight to post a manifesto, but definitely I would say there's topical stuff in there. Cennydd, I *did not know* that Daniel Day Lewis was in My Beautiful Laundrette. Heck, now I may have to increase my efforts to see this movie. It's so hard to find little-known films out here in bloody northern Missouri. Even in Columbia, I sometimes can't find the movies I want on video. (But I *did* find a copy of Desert Hearts for sale -- five dollars at the Ice House Video in Kirksville, can you believe? Speaking of hot love scenes.... I just can't get over Patricia Charbonneau's beautiful dark eyes.) HTH r618-+AT+-academic.truman.edu Badger! I can't help myself! I am quite sure my 2 year old (Taleria KayLeigh Morgaine Gray ....intense enough to deserve the name) would have the Companions And the Hawkbrothers WRAPPED into her little web in minutes and well on the way to some devilishly good arguments as to why they chose it themselves and thus are obligated to continue the relationship....... cute, but delightfully dangerous...)
