Yes, it can be used like w/Ylsa, but most of the time, she probably wouldn't be able to use it. ========================================================================== Teh Git fo Dypots said: > OBMisty: Other than the possible Owlflight, and the two books in that > other series whose names escape me at the moment, do we know of any > other books Misty is working on? She was only thinking about how Lyra will be a good MO (IIRC). As for Kris being the new monarch, I think that Valdemar practices primogenic succession. And, as for Lyra just waiting around until Talia dies, no one knows how, when, of if they will be chosen. Lyra may know that she eventually may become a herald, but she won't know what (if any) special position she will hold. After all, family ties don't influence heraldic rank. Tell the Queen! In the shafts!:" ? If Talia was pure Empath, she'd have felt Ylsa's urgency for sure, but not the actual words. As it is, Talia gets the words *and* the meaning. So, (as Ylsa says in Gift class), Talia *does* have a little Thoughtsensing, but the thought has to have a strong emotion behind it to get through to her. =========================================================================== > From: JAIME HATHAWAY > > 1. do you think Rolan with outlive Talia? even though it says MO > Compaions never seem to age, I think he'll die with her cause their > bond is so strong. she seems to think so, anyway. What if Selenay > dies...does kris become king and lyra just twiddle her thumbs until > Talia dies? The only clue as to which is going to be Monarch, and which MOH, is a comment of Elspeth's. Something to the effect of "One will be the King, and the other King's Own." But that may just be Elspeth's unconscious opinion, not the truth. About Talia and Rolan dying together. I'm not sure. It's likely that Misty will have a situation where Talia, Rolan, Dirk, and Ahrodie die together, so she has the opportunity to bring in a new MOC. Besides, she'd get a nice bit of angst from Jemmie (Talia's son -- now why wasn't *he* named Kris? That would make a lot more sense. Maybe Selenay just beat her to it? :) ). > 2. IIRC, that's the only Gift she has, but it was just strong enough before to get her Chosen, but not to really use. No, it indicates the sex of the Monarch. Talia is Queen's Own b/c Selenay is Queen. Shavri was King's Own b/c Randale was King. Now, if Randale had been a cross-dresser, Shavri could have been Queen's Own. > >2. What Gift does Sherril have? Well, in AotQ, Misty rarely (or never?) uses the word Mindspeech. She says either Thoughtsensing, projection, or Farspeech. IIRC, the latter is what she calls what Sherrill and Kyril have (i.e, they're Farspeakers). What I mean is, we tend to be very opinionated as to what we do and don't like, and that there is general consensious that her writing has slipped and such. Firts, would you read it at all, then, how would you feel about it? Would you take the information and opinions to heart and really do something to try to make everyone happy, or would you think...its my world, if you don't like it, don't read it!! This reminds me of in Tiger Burning Bright when the Evil Mage thought that Thom would be a good choice (for dinner as it were!!) because of all the crime he had committed, and yet, he was able to struggle against the spirit enough to basically be redeemed in the end when the angels came for him.
