I just thought I'd delurk and share some recent (and random) experiences. 
Within the past week, I heard people mention something nearly verbatim
from a Misty book.  First, my one history prof was saying how "the enemy of
my enemy is my friend" and that "battle plans never last beyond the first
encounter with the enemy."  Can anyone say BTS?  Then, in a movie, a
character said that "it is better to beg forgiveness thatn beg
permission"--one of Skan's favorite lines.  Granted, these quotes from Misty
are (probably) not original on her part, but it's just funny to hear from
people who most likely don't read Misty.

This probably makes little or no sense, but I just found it amusing.  Anyone
have similar experiences?

No, that was a post to the list.  Every now and then, some of us get dropped 
from the list unexpectedly.  When you're dropped (it better happen to everyone

<scritch, scritch> Whaaaa?  If there is, all the stuff has been translated 
into english for us to read, and its equivalent used.  I would suggest (for 
Kaled'a'in) checking out the scene in one of the Winds (Fate?) where what's 
his name, the Shaman apprentice goes to What's His Name the Shaman, and they 
do cool things like look at the rugs and talk about Elspeth.  Or, check out 
the dealings between Amberdrake and Dawnfire and What's His Name the Shaman 
now an Avatar.  If those are really formally seeming, (me-+AT+-school, books w/ 
friends in another country) then they probably do.  Sorry, that's all I can 
come up with.

Well, I'll send you my birthday - it's December 30th, and the year is
long enough ago to be slightly disturbing.  Only slightly mind you, but
still, that pushing 30 thing can be a b*tch.

Also, I keep hearing about the list FAQ, which I plan to check out.  Are
there any other laws, rules, etc that I should know about - I mean -
obviously y'all have been around a while, and there must be some
commonly held guidelines by which this list is run.  Any help is
appreciated.  I know about spoilers, but there must be more!

Okay, hi there everyone.  I love this whole list, and have been having
more fun since I got on, but I've got one question.  What exactly is the
Myers-Briggs Survey, can I take it too, and where would I find one?  I
just subscribed to the list a few days ago, and missed the whole thing,

obMisty, er, well, we know that Tarma is lesh'ya Kalenedral - it
introduced her in WoFate, but what about Kethry?  I mean, the two were
Goddess bound - wouldn't they be somehow tied after death?  Or would
Keth just choose to come back without Tarma?  How about Herald/Companion
bonds? Could the two switch forms every lifetime or so, but still pair
up together if they really wanted? Just curious.  .  .

Anyone read Silver Metal Lover by Tanith Lee?  Sortof addresses that
issue of soulbonding in a lovely and sad way.

Wholeheartedly agreed. Here in Rochester, we've got a deer problem, and

IIRC, when Dirk and Talia are inthat scene with Skif where they go all 
lovie-poo, Dirk uses a lot of that talk. Since it's the talk used on the
borders, I would assume it'd be a part of the neighboring country's
language too.

Actually, there are a few things I can try to say without fearing Cen's
wrath <g>
1. Try and braid short messages together.
2. If a post is mostly off-topic (like mine) try to stick in an ObMisty,
   and/or put 'fluff' in the subject.

I got the impression from recent posts that someone is collecting a

As to the Great Candlemark Debate - I was always under the impression that
it was supposed to be an hour.

Rainwood, Welcome!  I know how confusing it is to be a newbie, I'm fairly
new myself.  (Although I did lurk for a few months to get the gist of
things before I emerged from the proverbial closet.  :)  It's a lot of fun
here, I'm sure you'll find it to be an enjoyable experience.  One other
rule that I picked up on is that you have to have an part of your post
devoted to Misty (at least a little part), that's what the "ObMisty"
means.

ObMisty: Ummm... Does anyone know when Silver Gryphon is coming out in
softcover?  As a poor, actually almost broke, college freshman I can't
afford any harcover books.  Anyone?

Yeah, I think I remember reading about this -- someone said a while back
when I was still a newbie that the pegasus was Baron Valdemar's AM. And
"attribution lost" was written by yours truly, so if it's been bugging you,

I think it just did. Or was that TBB? But I don't think it's worth the
cash, even for paperback. If you must read it, go to a library. I bought SG
just for the sake of collection, and I have read it when it first came out
(my friend let me borrow it), but it's just not up-to-par-Misty.

That's sick and I really believe that shooting them is not the answer.  Here
in Australia the government has decided to "cull" koalas on Kangaroo island
'cause there are too many of them and it costs too much o ship 'em out.

Hi, name's Eric, persona hopefully named Foxfire,

As you can tell from the subject, I'm new here.  As the intro says,
I'm hoping my persona name will be OKed.  If someone has the same
persona, please notify me ASAP.  I am aspiring to become the God of
Chocolate or if the position's taken, their lakey.

On suggestion from by mom, here's my current bio.
I'm 13 years old and in 8th grade.  I'm also posting from my mom's
account, so if you want to reply, please post to her acount.
The reason I picked Foxfire for my persona is because I'm a pyro,
and some people (namely, myself) think I'm pretty clever sometimes.

Well, that's my post.  I've been asking my mom if I could do this for
a while and I'm finally here.  I've been reading over her shoulder for
some of the posts from here, so I think I know the SOP.

     I had to dissect a cat in my Anatomy class my freshman year at 
college.  The cats that were used were cats that had died of natural 
causes or killed in an accident.  I know ours had a hemorage on one 
side so we think she was hit by a car.
   Our animal shelter up here is a no-kill shelter.  If an animal 
cant find a home it generally stays in the poun indefinately, or 
until the owner takes pity on it.  Some of our psych classes will 
work with the nonadopted animals to try to make them more sociable 
and generally better pets with a better chance of adoption.  It's 
worked really well, the shelter has a really godd turnover rate.  It 
is even able to screnn prospective owners to make sure the animal is 
going into a good home.

ObMisty:  I would have really liked to hear more about the travels of 
K'Leshya to White Gryphon.  I wonder also why they found it necessary 
to travel back to the plains in the Winds trilogy, or were they 
another convienient plot device.

BIRTHDAYS
I'm managing a birthday list.  I'll give 2-day warnings as to whose birthday 
is coming up along with how old they'll be turning (optional) and their 
private e-mail (optional).  If you see this last option, that means that if 
you were going to post a one-liner b-day message -- don't.  Send it private.  
If I don't put it up (and I won't unless it is sent to me in the body of the 
message, honor and all), then BRAID your good wishes and "gifts" into your 
post.

SURE-FIRE WAYS TO GET FLAMED BY CENNYDD
In the Mage's own words:

Well, the magewar has minimal Misty content.  It was really moved 
b/c it was just too fluffy, and some listmembers at the time complained.
(of course, at the time it was only a Duel between Jag and our MIA
Shadow-Lover, not a War)

Ummm, IIRC, Thess's mom is Goddess of Choclate.   Her ascension predates
any list member other than Thess herself.

No obMisty.  I just took the Midterm From Hell(TM) for my database
class (a 2hr and 15min test is unreasonable!), and I'm not up to it.
Of course, I didn't study until about 2hrs before the test......

while we're on the topic (kinda), I'm proud of myself because I finally got
