Welll, I admit the Lunzie- is-in-deep-sleep-again does get kinda old after a while, but Elizabeth Moon (of Paksenarrion fame) does a spin off in the same universe called Hunting Party. Yes, there *was* a connection between those statements! Moon co-wrote at least 1 (i think it's 2) of the Pirates books w/ Anne, so I jumped to that book.... Anyway, a sequel to Hunting Party is in the works, and I can't wait for it to come out!!! I think the Dream Warrior short story fulfilled its purpose nicely. It was like a theater program -- just told you what was going on plot-wise. The *real* story is in the music -- that's where you get your depth and so forth. I think all three have different stories, however. Unsure. 2. Not unless they come out with a Badger Shin'a'in medallion. 3. Yes, they did have an instrumental BTS at one time. 4. The informal whites are on the left, formals on the right. I don't know where they got the models, but they're cute. 5. Go for it. I thought the Silver Gryphon insignia was pretty cool-looking. 6. Someone will. I know people who've spent that much on a single animation cell to hang on their wall, so why not gryphons? 7. If you can afford a Hawkbrother mask, go for it. Wear it to DragonCnn. 8. This one I don't know. I don't have any of the feathered jewelry. 9. To whom? I wouldn't pay $20 for an Eye of Horus, but I cheerfully shelled out almost that much for the Cerridwen necklace. 10. Where do you get all this money? 11. It's kinda neat. Peter Beagle has a great soup recipe. Misty cops out; there is no Misty & Larry recipe. The book lies. 12. Hmm, that one don't know either, though I'd be interested. CS Lewis was pretty wonderful. 13. Don't know about Truth and the Light, but Songs in the Key of X was groovy. 14. Jack of Kinrowan is a decent book, with, yes, a cool cover. 15. Yes, Longcor's "Falconsbane" is about *that* Falconsbane. 16. Fish Live? Dunno, but it's a safe bet it's really good. 17. My favorite Heather recording thus far. About half traditionals, half original. 18. Touchstone jewelry is beautiful. 19. Probably. But this list is probably a waste of your time, and you love it. This is the first time I've seen the word 'rambo' used as a verb." Misty in background: "Oh-*no*." Fish: "Yep, that one." I like every song on that tape. For those of you unfamiliar with these books, the ships are known as brain ships - the ulitmate in cyborg tech - a human mind attached to a star ship (in simeon's case it is attached to a space station). And they all must have human partners, who are referred to as 'brawns'. Anyway, in the call numbers, the brains were all given a number when they graduated and can be dated from those numbers. the * is the space where the first letter of the brawn's name goes. Tia is actually known as the AH-1033; her brawn is named Alexander. Lead is a metal, and electricity can be conducted by all metals and some non-metals!" Yeesh. Terrible physics, there... besides which, when wossisface was thinking about his servants, did anyone else get the impression that Misty just went "Well, I want to show how evil this rival Firemaster is, and since *he* found these servants an easy way to show that is by showing how evil *they* are, so what's the nastiest things I can say about them?" I mean... a heavy drug user who is *still* drugging his horse even though he no longer races it (d'uh! Expensive!), a child-murderer who either arranged for her ex-lover's death or killed him herself, and a cannibal for a cook! How realistic is this? And d'you really think wossisface (shows you how much of an impression his name made on me - the lazy apprentice, you know!) would stand for having a cannibal cook preparing his food AND using the same kitchen to cook his own "long pig"? Not quite - you'd have to run the attached file - I don't know of any mail programs that will do that automatically. And it would only affect a single platform. Sounds like another variation of the Good Times Hoax to me. As long as you don't run untrusted programs, you should be fine; the closest you can get to viruses in documents (as opposed to attachments) are the word macro viruses. She could have made it a single novel and I would have been satisfied. Its one of those classics that makes you laugh, sigh, cry, and scream in outrage. It ends on a sober but very positive note. However will you concede that when comparing the Companion brain with the bond-bird brain that a Companion due to the sheer size of the brain has a better chance for higher intelligence? Even if the two groups brains were folded with the same degree of complexity, the Companion posses more folds just by way of brainsize. (Somebody hand me my hipboots. Mithras was, oddly enough, one of the reborn gods who is also of the light. He was worshipped by the Roman soldiers. It was one of the mystery religions and only open to men. The early Christians chose the Mithras holy day to celebrate the birth of Christ because the Roman soldiers would be to busy with their own celebrations to persecute them. The invisible one is rejoicing cause this means she prolly won't have the highest SAT scores on the list! Go Lady Silvermoon! Y'know, you could also use this as ammo for that movie that you want to see.... Lee, the Eternally Nourished one, said: >>><<<< Why? It was _funny_! And so _eloquent_. Lee (I think, cause Esme didn't attrib, and I can't remember where I saw it) said: > as for Emily's latest bulletin--good to hear. Then Esme said: >Well no, but what we really don't want is to contribute to the >growing number of anitbiotic resistant bacteria around - which, by not >finishing a course of anit-b's you do. Always take 'em all! Yes, that's why I usually carry the bottle of antibiotic around with me. I _do not_ need a pack of resistant bronchitis bacteria living in my lungs (I have enough of those for pneumonia). What's more, if you miss a dose on your original course of antibiotics it takes like a week of _further_ antibiotics to fix it. Those little beasties are _nasty_ if you don't hit 'em with the antibiotic properly! Guess what I found! Oh, all right, I'll tell you. I found a Patricia Wrede book in the University Bookstore! !!!! I think that there is something funny about this bookstore. First I find _two copies_ of So You Want To Be A Wizard (now there's only one. I bought the other). Now I find a Patricia Wrede book, Calling on Dragons. The truly funny part is there's a whole bunch of other stuff like McKillip (The Forgotten Beasts of Eld) back there too. I swear, who ever buys the children's books is a _major_ fan of fantasy. I'm looking back there every so often in hopes of finding something else outre . Anyway, I read the book like that! It's _really_ funny, and I wouldn't have realized that it was the third book in a series except I've been looking for her stuff for a while. If you've ever read Diana Wynne Jones, her stuff is sorta like that. The cats are absolutely hysterical (yes Stephie, I'm gonna bring it home with me so you can read it). Even with the slapdash ending, the content on elementals was good. Speaking of slapdash endings, Sacred Ground was the same for me and really ticked me off. Perhaps Misty needs to work on how she sets up a timeframe to write in and stay with it? I dinna know.... Has anyone read Gaiman and Pratchett's Good Omens? That is the most hilarious book I have ever read, truly! The angel and demon being best friends and trying to stop the Apocaylpse was a wonderful idea. A better team to tackle the subject couldn't be found. Okay, enough of going crazy! Who is Pterry? I keep getting the feeling it's Pratchett but I think I'm wrong. Help! ;) Wildlife lovers: has anyone seen Kratt's Creatures on PBS? It's really great and can be pretty funny at times. Very informational. OK, OK, so I think Chris Kratt is sexy, too. So sue me. But the show does teach some interesting things about wildlife even stuff I didn't know. Kaatje, I hope everything turns out okay with your eyes. Thinking and praying for you. Many thanks for the thoughts for my grandmother. She's doing well and will be home soon. My first book was MPawn, but my favorite > by far is Knight of Ghosts and Shadows. Heyla all! I'm new at this and just thought I would put in my two cents here :) the Firt Misty book I read was Winds of Fate but my most favorite book is Magic's Price because it was the only book that actually made me a little "misty" eyed, okay so it wasn't a little, I got mad and threw the book after I found out what happened to Vanyel and Yfandes and then cried. But then I remembered Stefan and wanted to see what happend there only to end up crying again at the very end *sigh*. Okay that's my input :) Kerowynn k'Sheyna of Clan Woad (Ultima Online) ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 1016 **********************************
