After several months of lurking, I thought it was time I introduced myself. My name is Beverly Steele, and I'm a network technician with the probation, parole and pardon services of South Carolina. My first Misty book was AotQ, and I've been hooked ever since. I've been in self imposed lurking because I was soooooo behind in reading my digests. (I went through 35 today. Digests, mind you, not posts!) I think I've overdosed on it. While I haven't had much to say, I've really enjoyed reading ya'lls posts. (yes, I'm from the southern US.) Even when I didn't agree with the point being made, the insight I got from the post made me stop and think over my position again. I am very impressed at the scholarly level of discussion - Cennydd's discussion of Thee and Thou, all of Heather's essays, Danya's background on Arthurian legends, and a host of others that I can't even begin to list have absolutely floored me!! I've always laughed when you sent sheep back and forth, because I have real sheep, and everyone gives me toy sheeps, so I have my flock here in my office. Let's see, I enjoy reading, and besides Misty, I like Eddings, Tolkien, McCaffrey, Elron, Heinlin (sp?) and a host of other authors (who's names escape me - me-+AT+-work, books -+AT+-home.) Right now I have about 5,000 keeper books at home, but I'm a prolific (SP?) reader (ok - so I have no life!) I was in the SCA - in the kingdom of Atlantia, and have developed the strange hobby of making chain mail - the stuff you wear, not mail. I also belly dance, ride horses, shear the blasted sheep and spin the wool. Since I heard all of you talking about Dragon Con, I checked it out, and MADE MY RESERVATIONS!!!! So hopefully I'll see some of you there! Gosh darn, my boss wants me to go back to work!! Pooh! and I don't have an obmisty!! Sorry! They told me Holly Lisle was good. Me I personally would suggest the Gaurdians of the Flame series by Joel Rosenberg. The first book is the Sleeping Dragon. If you want more infomation on the series you can write me privately or I can post it to the list. You haven't heard of McCaffrey, Eddings, or Jordan????? > And you said that you read mostly fantasy? Sorry shouldn't have said that way. I have heard of them Edding I think I have tried to read but couldn't get through it. Jordan I know of a bit he wrote the Wheel of Time series and McCaffrey I thought was mostly Sci-Fi so I didn't really mean to include her in the people I haven't heard of.
