That would be dissappointing for me to think that Misty was too lazy or not feeling creative enough to make two seperate settings for her stories. I would prefer to think she was being clever enough to have both stories on the same planet at two seperate time periods and that she was hoping her fans would notice her cleverness. For one thing, both the mysterious roads "of the > ancients" and the magical creatures that she uses in both Valdemar and BV > are fairly conventional decors in Fantasy-Fiction.Okay, I'll admit that the evidence for my hypothesis is purely circumstanstial. However, I don't think you can discount it as a possibility. Perhaps someone that is going to the upcoming convention could ask Misty if there are two seperate worlds or only one at different time periods. On another subject, since the name Shadow Wolf has not been received very well I will be searching for another usename. If there are any serious suggestions they will be appreciated and considered. FFF has some songs of other authors, but also has poems of Misty’s that Fish put to music, and other songs of Misty’s. As colorful of a personality Madonna is, I can perfectly picture the scenario. But I would really think Andrew Lloyd Webber would have valued his work -- and his dignity as a composer -- than to cast Madonna for Eva Peron. I have not seen the movie, but I've seen clips of her attempt at singing ALW. It just makes me really sick to see "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" ruined that way. I really thought ALW would have more guts than to say "The hell with it; give the chick the part" because he got so many letters he got sick of it. Sorry to you people who love Madonna -- I really don't like her. I love that one song from A League of Their Own and "Like a Prayer", but after I heard "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" a la Madonna, I just got sick of her. I've written twice to find out more about joining and had absolutely no response! I've had a similar problem with one of the McCaffrey groups not responding to email. In reference to the poll re first book/favourite book: my first book was AotQ which I loved but I've just finished BTS and I'd have to say that's my favourite so far. It has a much more sophisticated feel to it than the arrows books. I'm currently half way through the first Winds book and I'm in two minds about whether I like it or not. Firstly I think Misty would make a killing if she decided to write horror because the feel of some of her books fits very well! I'm finding the chapters alternating between Elspeth and Darkwind to be rather distracting. I'm almost inclined to read all the Elspeth chapters and then go back to the Darkwind chapters until they finally merge (as they obviously must at some point). The Darkwind chapters are much darker than the others and I always seem to end on one of those just before I go to sleep at night! Not a god idea! There was also some discussion about Elspeth reverting to being a Brat in these books. Does she get worse? So far I just feel that she's developed some character - in fact, that she has become a character in her own right rather than the mousey non-entity she was in the later Arrows books. I rather like her at the moment. Icesong said: > >What do you suggest? Stay, read her books, and discuss, or leave,, >read her books, and come back, or never come back again? Icesong, when I joined this list the only books I'd read was AotQ & the 3 Gryphon books. I'd started reading the first of the Storm books and it didn't make sense to me and I was ready to give up when the list told me what I'd been missing - about 10 books!!! So I now have all but the last of the storm books and I'm slowly working my way through in order. I don't understand all the references to the later books since I haven't read them, but that's okay. I'm also not heavily into philosophy so I don't post to the list very often - in fact, this will be about my longest post ever! - but I enjoy the reading of other people's thoughts. They challenge me as well as enhancing the reading I do. And as Aistes said, there is more to the Misty list than just Misty! As evidenced by the support of fellow list-sibs in need of support for varying reasons. I personally think that if you can survive the not quite knowing what they're talking about, you'll find this is a great list to be a part of. Well, if the thing about FIresong is a SERIOUS question ;), I can answer that, I think. Each of us have a balance between masculinity and femininity inside us...females have much more of the feminine, males much more of the masculine. The SERRAted Edge series doesn't really tie strongly into anything else (well, okay, they do tie weakly into the DI Tregarde series and the Bedlam Bard series, but you can discuss without knowing that), so they stand on their own. That makes it easier, 'cause when you have a question, everyone else has just as much knowledge as you do, unless it's a question that's asked frequently, so you're sure to get at least one response. *grins teasingly over at Cen* We're even graced with a very seductive, amazingly handsome Mage/Object of Unrequited Lust who said ~on record~ that he'd answer any question that was meant seriously and wasn't a repeat or just plain stupid. ::rolls her eyes and sheeps away for her life:: If you like, you can read the mail in Digest format, which ties all the messages you get separately into one long e-mail, so you don't get so overwhelmed with about 35+ messages per day. Message-ID: <32CC39DB.4B1F-+AT+-netcomuk.co.uk> Hi everyone, Kimberly raised an interesting point. Are we male or female souls?.I personally believe that we are all capable of being male or female, take people born gender unspecific,it's a surgical operation that deals with the problem.trannsexuals are examples of souls trapped in bodies of the wrong gender.Maybe if people were more in touch with the other half of their souls sexual discrimination might end? Who knows?.Firesong was balanced and I'm sure there are people in this world who are also balanced, but there are also people who are so out of balance they are lop sided. It's what we do with what we have thats also important and if someone wants to strive for something other than what they are, good for them!
