It is about a Taylendras scout who is bonded to an owl(s)..but it is not Wintermoon. It takes place right after Storm Breaking. If I remember where I found this info I will post it to the group! Lady Guenevere-- I thought was fun to read, but by the time the book came around I was getting tired of the 'evil Church oppressing the freedom-loving Bards' theme. I enjoyed that better when it was the Bards' Guild oppressing the Free Bards. I do like the FreeBards world, though. Underneath all the fantasy flavor you've got aliens and vestiges of high technology which have been cut off from starflight. I think that is neat! I hope Lackey will write more about that. (Off-topic) And if you like stuff about music and magic, L. L. Modesitt has written a book set in his Recluce world, called . I liked , and am looking forward to this novel. Right now it's out in hardback. me>OwlFlight sounds vaguely Tayledras (possibly Kaled'a'in), does it not? (giggle) It sounds to me like the title of a fantasy novel involving students from Rice University. But, then, I'm from Houston. :) Chantal `[1;37;45mRainbow V 1.20.2 for Delphi - Test Drive ------------------------------ Date: 19 Apr 1997 21:02:00 GMT From: mark-+AT+-galactica.it To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: owlflight Message-ID: <01e944301191347MAIL-+AT+-mail.galactica.it> Finally, get me off this list! I'm new to all this so forgive me if I've done it all wrong. So far, I haven't heard about any of the Mercedes Lackey books but about the Anne McCaffrey book (sorry if it's a bit off the subject) but I was under the impression that it was already out. I mean, I have a copy of it sitting on my book shelf. It's a good book, so if you haven't read it yet you really should. See you. (Sorry to all those who have never even heard of Anne McCaffrey. I've probably just annoyed the hell out of you with this). ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 19 Apr 1997 18:54:17 -0400 From: Chris & Sean Talbot To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: "Tie that woman down!" Okay I can not see where this comes into play. She was always into charging head on into danger or whatever was out there. That is what they were referring to. And they also said something to the affect that she didn't do the headlong rushes into danger since she had reached adepthood. >with what would happen to pregnant mages. I think that the fact that >the mother normally incorporates mage energy into her body, having a >fetus would not change it any, other than possibly making the child >somewhat sensative to mage energy. What would happen if an unGifted Would it do that or would it possibly hurt the child. I can see the child more then likely being a mage himself or herself. Just because the child would be so used to mage energy. I believe I saw the statement about a mother ungifted pregnant with a gifted child. Gifts generally don't appear till at least 13 right? So I don't think it is possible if what I saw was correct. Sorry I hit the delete key to many times. There is a new book coming out about Bards Tale which Mercedes Lackey has written heavily in. Holly Lisle is writing a new book with Aaron Alliston for a new Bards book. I have recieved this right from Holly Lisle herself so I know it is happening. Most of us on the list don't talk about the Bards series. What is the general opinion of the series? I have myself have not read them yet but I would love to find out what others think of them. I had the impression that it was a firestarting spell, and not the mindmagic firestarting of Valdemar, that was needed. After all, since Mornelithe wanted a body with magegift, then someone with firestarting wouldn't fulfill this need. As for the "conspiracy" to kill mages; that was Lareath in MP. I think that Lareath was a prior existance of Mornelithe, but I could be wrong. If so, why didn't Mornelithe remember Heralds and have a grudge against them? He didn't seem to recognize them during the Winds series. I would imagine that he would want revenge against Heralds following Vanyel defeating him. Wow, I thought it was Talia who didn't mesh w/ Rolan correctly, possibly because mindspeech was tough for her, becuase she had no exp w/ mages, etc. When she is Chosen -- the message is loud and clear. but that is really the last time that Rolan can get that through to her. -- Individual e-mail reply mailto:cundiffg-+AT+-evansville.net Discover Mesker Park Zoo http://www.evansville.net/~mpzoo Uncover an Official Bottom 95% Web Site http://www.evansville.net/~cundiffg/prequel.htm ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 21 Apr 1997 09:55:28 -0400 (EDT) From: Greg Wooledge To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Rolan.. This was during the period when Vanyel's protection spells were keeping mages out of the country. Besides, mindspeaking and magic are completely different Gifts. Most people who have one of them don't have the other. >When she is Chosen -- the message is loud and clear. but that is > really the last time that Rolan can get that through to her. I seem to recall reading (in one of the Arrows books?) that someone who is Chosen will always hear the mind-voice of his/her Companion at the time of Choosing, even if they never hear anything again. It seems to have been written in a generic sense, although it describes Talia/Rolan perfectly. ------------ Greg Wooledge ------------- ------- wooledge-+AT+-kellnet.com ------- --- http://kellnet.com/wooledge/main.html --- ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 1177 **********************************
