Different in the sense that I am used to hearing about Heralds, and The Free Bards takes place in another world. It is good, the plot is interesting, Free Bards Vs. Bardic Guild, and the existence of Gifts, but other than that, nothing much. Perhaps if I had the other books in the series. I still prefer The Heralds of Valdemar series. I can find more in common with the different characters. I liked all of them, and am currently rereading The Lark & the Wren. (I also bought the Free Bards book, thinking that it was a new book altogether.) Anyway, the plots seem to be progressing along the lines of Evil Bard Guild people, Good Free Bards, Church battling internal Corruption, and the common people suffering sometimes. In the Eagle & the Nightingales, a King is freed from an evil plot. I like all 4 books, esp. the Bardic Choices one because I trained as an actress and A Cast of Corbies involves a playhouse, an actress and bunch of other characters. They were all good and each took a different road. It wasn't just "more of the same" in each book. The one I enjoyed the most was Lark & Wren, simply because I liked the Lark and the Wren best of the characters. I would recommend them all. Cennydd seems to have gotten a bit upset over having to take over some of the duties for those of the Order of Amber and Marigold. I'm sorry. This group really does seem to lack leadership. To make him feel better I offer my skills to help those interested in the group. If any opne has any objections I'll gladly listen to their ideas. I mean, mine is 1/3 of the way down my back, and if I plait it before work, then by lunchtime I have an undeserved halo, and by the time I get home about a quarter of my hair is loose around the remains of the plait. This seems to be more or less sorted out now but will have put a lot of extra load on servers hanging on to mail for MSN. 2) AOL's mail system appears to be sick _again_ -- at last count I had about 500 mail messages waiting for AOL folks. It seems to be getting through now, but again I would expect backlog problems. 3) Just to add insult to injury, my own ISP is currently having routing problems to the US, so mail to you folks across the pond may be a tad slow today. It's being worked on, and I'd expect it to be sorted out later today. Also, just to let you know, I will be away from Thursday evening until Sunday afternoon of this week, so any problems arising during that time won't be dealt with until Monday. I expect to check my personal email occasionally during that time, but don't promise responses. And having cut my hair that short ::shudder:: it works at that length to. well thats my guess and the reasons behind it. i hope it helps! As for new books, i woudent know, i usually shop used book stores. -RTeclectic ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 20 Apr 1997 20:14:21 CST From: "JAIME HATHAWAY" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Rolan..
