and do not give up hope.  Prove the doctors wrong by walking again.

Hey they only said  may  not   never  so don't give up just keep trying.
Never really been in that situation, or mabye I just didnt hear them say any
thing besides  no permenant damege was done  (chlorine gas exposure at summer
camp not fun but I didnt even have to stay overnight)  But I do have a
learning disability so I know how it can be when everyone around you is doing
something you cant, But If you keep trying you can do it. Just takes time and
hard work. Don't give up, Keep fighting I know you can do it!

Look folks, I'm really sorry, but since no one else is saying this, I'm
going to:  All these posts to NightDancer are WAY off-topic (no offense to
Nightdancer).  If you have well-wishes or whatever, either send them via
private email or in the middle of a post that has SOME sort of real Misty
stuff, okay?  The list has already been really slow of late, whether due to
lack of posting or email-prob, I don't know, but this kind of
off-the-subject posting just makes it worse.

Okay, an ObMisty to maybe get the messages going again, nyet?  First of all,
I got very few responses to my last few questions, so if you happen to still
have that post and have any thoughts, let us know!  Secondly, would anyone
else like to hear more about the SkyBolts and Kero and Selenay?  Maybe this
is a silly question, I don't know.  It's like that whole generation's just
been relegated a spot in the shadows.  I understand that they had their time
-- at least, Kero and the 'Bolts did -- but why can't we learn more?  Okay,
I know, Misty's got other ideas and is forging ahead in this history of
Velgarth thing, but what about our people?  Misty is the only author I've
ever read who does that.  It makes me wish *I* could write their stories,
because they just _beg_ to be told. It's like she has so many perfect
weavings begun, but as she thinks of new ideas, new patterns, the old just
get kinda imperfectly sown together and left.  Not that I mean to criticise,
because I don't think I could do any better, but I almost wish she hadn't
done quite as good a job in characterization for the characters who aren't
the main ones.  Any thoughts?  Please, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying
that I don't like what's she's done; I just like it so much that I want more.  

Anyways, wish I could think of more to say, but I think I'd best be off the
'puter before this icky storm gets me.  Stars light thy paths, listsibs.

No, in my opinion, they are NOT. This is more than a list to discuss ML's
work, IMO it is a group generally of LIST SIBLINGS. I read ML because her
work resonates with me at a deep level. I have found generally that members
of this list feel the same way. Yes, at times we fight but what siblings do
not? But we also support each other in a very real albeit virtual way.
Nightdance, Goddess bless his cotton sox, brought a new element of virtual
bondbirds & I thank him for bringing that extra element to this group. He
is using this group to stay centred and I figure we should help him all the
way. For a family to stay together we need to put down our feelings in
front of each other.

Now I may be feeling a trifle introspective because today is the first
year's anniversary of  a time when a man called Bryant killed 35 people and
injured 17 more at a place called Port Arthur in Tasmania - and that event
has reverberated throughout Australia. And we have had to be open to get
through this. It touched me peripherally but it caused enormous personal &
emotional hardship in Tasmania. Maybe I'm projecting, but it seems to me
that the incalculable hardship that Ancar visited on his people echoes this
situation and more.

So let us be open in our support of each other, just as we are open in our
disagreement. There are not many Aussies on this list, and although I rue
that, I have loved noticing how ML's work transcends cultural boundaries to
some extent.

Another person who has helped do this has been Anne McCaffery whose Catteni
novels fascinate me in their search for multi-culturism. Meanwhile in
Australia we have a politician called Pauline Hanson whose new political
party is built on racism, anti-multiculturism and anti-indigenous people
IMO. We need to stand up and be counted in being supportive.

That's it, list sibs, be strong, be true & be honest ... we have got to
build a better world.

I agree with Nightsong about the fact that I wanted to know more 
about Kero and Selany and as a matter of fact more about Tarma and 
Kethry.  I loved all of these characters.  And I wish Misty would 
have maybe gone into more detail about Kero's life between the time 
she left Tarma and Kethry and the time she was a 'bolt as a scout 
leader this is just IMNHO

Heyla all!

Sorry about the big quote, but wanted to also say something about it.

Personally, I like the series that have been written so far.  We find
out about Vanyel's time, the reign of Selenay, Tarma & Kethry, the era
of the Mage Wars, and even the land where Baron Valdemar came from.  I
also like the Griffon and Mage Storms trilogy.

What I would like to see is a story telling about the founding of
Valdemar, the arrival of the Companions, etc.  Plus, there are two other
time periods which could be written about.  The reigns of Roald and
Sendar (Selenay's father, I think).

And personally, I hope that the next Diana Tregarde book IS released. 
If anyone ever finds out anything about it, please let me know.

You're right. I think the reason most of us read Misty's books is because
they are different from the mainstream "manly-men in taverns drinking ale and
discussing the slaughtering of dragons". They're about people, and sometimes
people are more important than even the best of books. Best of luck,

I can answer that.  Mind speech can be blocked as was stated.  Plus Rolan
did have the range because him a Gwena could reach that far and farther.
They needed more info and with Rolan back he had a chance to be useful since
he was the companion with the most chance of helping to save Talia.  Plus he
may have known what she was planning and knew Dirk would try and help with
his fetching.  We don't know if he has any kind of Presight but he may.
There is another explanation it may have been that Misty just wanted to let
us know that Companions couldn't do everything.  Until the later books you
didn't learn about the extent of there powers.

all those memories.  I think that the memories did not get eroded as

No, in my opinion, they are NOT. This is more than a list to discuss ML's
work, IMO it is a group generally of LIST SIBLINGS. I read ML because her
work resonates with me at a deep level. I have found generally that members
of this list feel the same way. Yes, at times we fight but what siblings do
not? But we also support each other in a very real albeit virtual way.

bondbirds & I thank him for bringing that extra element to this group. He
is using this group to stay centred and I figure we should help him all the

Sorry if the subject line's a bit unclear, but once I put it in I can't go 
back and change it.
I don't know why other people might be lurking, but I have 2 reasons at the 
moment. One is my usual one of most of the things that get asked have been 
answered by the time I log on due to time zones. The other is that this 
universitys' term started a week ago, so all the students are using the 
computers, depriving us poor members of staff ;> Plus all these people messes 
up the server so that messages get "lost" and quite a few of the misty ones 
have been appearing in a different order to their timestamps. (thats 1 am 
coming _after_ 2.30 am)
 
ObMisty: Does anyone know if theres going to be another Korendil, Beth, Eric 
book or if that falls under the same "no more" as the Di Tregarde (which I 
have never seen in this country)? I would go and re-read TLS to find out, but 
with everyone back Netscape is running S..L..O..W

I agree totaly with Aili   and i am sorry i have not been wrighting much to
the list. . . things have been really insain here and Nightdancer, I am realy
sorry to hear of this news and like everone else sais, never give up.  I am
taking care of a horse right now that doctors said would never run, or abe
able to be ridden again.  Her owners decided to try and as I am up there
constently charged me with taking care of her.  She is running now and
dancing, she still pretends to work the barrles and to work the cattle.  It
was a long hard battle with her and it's not over, she is still not up to
carrying a rider but i think one day she will.  This just goes to show you
that if you never give up and you keep trying it will come right in the end.

Most certainly! The few scenes we had in "By the Sword" showing the
Skybolts
are amoung my favorites. The recruit and his horse always make me
smile. I would
like to see more about Kero. I think there is room to tell more about
Tarma and Kethry
too. But I would be happy to never see another word about our old

heart lead her in another direction. I don't think it's a spolier to
say that I enjoyed

[Crystal Hewitt]  If I remember correctly, _all_ bondbirds eventually 
become bleached simply by living in the Vale near a heartstone.  Aya, as 
Firesong's bondbird was bleached, although there was never mentioned 
life-spans or ages of any of the bondbirds.  One has to wonder if that was 
"improved" when they were being created by the mages.
