With Ma'ar, there is a depate on weither he could be twi people or not. What if the weaker one(the one Van killed in the town) was just a model, like Falconsbane daughter was. That was is what someone (I think it was Darkwind) told Skiff(I am not sure if this are the right names), and he told Wintermoon that after Wintermoon said some peiole said that mating wiht a changechild was like mating with beast. That would explain the eyes and hands of the underling. He could just be an experiment. That could be why Falconsbane knew what to do to his daughter. It makes you wonder how many things he killed to get it right. Did someone say there was a on-line version of the Queen's Own. As far as I know, the only way to join is though snail mail. There is are a couple of online chapters of The Queen's Own. On is on Genie and is called Modems of the Queen. The other (which I belong to) is Arrows Online and it is on America Online. Both are a great deal of fun. Both are recognized by Judith Louvis as official chapters. Sara, LIG & Dryad Extraordinaire Avatar of the Great Wombat PS - Congratulations on walking again! Well maybe Krebain was a model, but he worked for the Leshara or freelances right? Ma'ar would still remain Ma'ar and be horribly possessive...even in his coming lives. If Falconsbane was that possessive about Nyara, calling her back and all that, won't Leareth be as possesive? I doubt that he would allow an offspring of his that had so much power to run free outside of his domain... I think one of the books said something of Nyara playing with her siblings or something, something about her sibs being earlier experiments of Falconsbane's that failed and that she was the only one that got the results he wanted or something. Yes, he had been hired by Evan Leshara to take care of 'Lendel's family, but that's almost beside the point. Remember that Leareth's goal was to eliminate every Herald-Mage in Valdemar; he'd been at it for years, even killing some before they were ever Chosen and making it look like accidents. Until Vanyel put 2 + 2 together, no-one would have noticed the apparently unconnected deaths of a few unrelated children from all over the country. So, despite the Leshara's involvement, Krebain's mission, it seems to me, was to eliminate a potentially very powerful Herald-Mage: Tylendel. Unfortunately for Leareth, Vanyel's latent Gifts were opened in the process. As one of my friends points out," There are 3 sides to every story; Side A, Side B, and the Truth. The hard part is figuring out what is the Truth." I agree with what you're saying. Trmane does appear to be the exception to the rule in the Empire, but he did order the assisinations of the envoys, so obviously he is not totally above Empire politics. Another interesting thought; Selenay ordered the assisnation of Ancar. Is this so different from Tremane ordering the envoys to be killed? After all, he thought that he was under attack from Valdemar when the mage storms hit. Of course, a major difference is that Hardorn and Valdemar were already at war.
