How about the scene in Magic's Promise where Van tries to explain to Withen that he's really not all that bad? Sorry, but I have wierder tastes then some others. I happen to think that it is emotionally charged and reflects real life where others have similiar distrusting parents. (The scene where he goes, "Why father, why can't you ever believe in anything I say or do?") Sci-fi people tend to be more logical than(sp? my brain's fried) some. So you probably have to explain stuff to them. I switched from scifi to fantasy, so that shows that fantasy can draw sci-fi pple. I tend to prefer more emotional scenes where pple are angry, devastated, etc. I even ended memorising some scenes! > I am obsessed with Firesong and would liek to look just > like him (who wouldn't?) alothugh I love Vanyel too. Personally she reminds me more of Kero. Same here. I enjoy watching "Xena" and that was also my first thought upon seeing it. She is a lot like Kerowyn. However, if Xena is no Tarma, Gabrielle is certainly no Kethry! The extent of her abilities are reading Doric chant and whopping bad guys with a big stick. On that note -- anyone else think a Tarma & Keth movie could work? Of course it would never happen, but we can dream, right? Out of all the Velgarth characters, they would be the easiest to adapt to another medium. Some of her one-shot books like _Fire_Rose_ might work too, and maybe the two Left Coast Elf books could be adapted into a four- hour miniseries. :-) I don't know if this has been discussed before, apologies if I'm beating a dead horse, but if any of Misty's novels were ever made into a movie or mini-series, who would be your dream cast? Who would you like to see as Van or Savil? ************************************************************************** >Who else would find a story of a herald going completly(sp) bad and being >reputied (not just going crazy like Tylendel)? I doubt it could ever happen. Anyone who had the potential to become really evil would never be Chosen. People who are bad to the core or just plain unstable don't become Heralds. Even if s/he were a Herald, having been Chosen would prevent that course of events from occurring. Few Heralds are a strong as 'Lendel to screen their thoughts so thoroughly from their Companion. On those occasions when a Herald does do something bad, like Lores in _Magic's_Promise_, they aren't repudiated because their Companions love them unconditionally and can forgive a mistake. But a Herald becoming truly evil? That, IMHO, would never happen, unless s/he had been driven mad. ************************************************************************** Whoever said Kris was probably mage-Gifted -- Genius! I bet you're right. We know now that Heralds with mage Gift were trained as if they had the Sight.
