By the way, I was in Doubleday Books and I saw an omnibus of the Bardic Voices books. I didn't get it cause I've got them all, but, for anyone who doesn't, this is out there. I believe it was twelve dollars, but I am not positive. Has anyone heard anthing about a new Bardic Voices novel? Was it ever mentioned anywhere what exactly caused Tarma (whose voice was once the pride of the Shin'a'in) to lose her lovely speech? Also, for the one who was asking about the Bardic Voices stuff, a guy at Walden's told me that Owlflight was supposed to be the next book in that line, but he was not quite sure himself. Now that I think about it... I've not read Fire Rose yet, but is this ano= ther of the fairy-tale type books like Firebird? Gods, I hope so! I am glad that the main character lived happily ever after with the firebird (I can't remember his name either) but still, think about it. For being such a jerk the other guy got a whole bunch of rewards. A pretty bride, money, lands and various other spoils left over from the magician. And maybe the Princess got what she deserved by having a horrible husband but he din't get what he deserved because if she ever gets out of line he will put her back in line (probably with force). I was sitting here at work wondering: when Van and Stef went to fight Leareth, they went up to (what is now) Sorrows, right? And that's where Van, 'Fandes and Stef are now. So, on the way to fight is when Van ran into his trouble with the bandits, and the kryee found them and helped them heal. Has there been any mention of these kryee anywhere else? I think I've read all the novels, but I can't recall any more mention. It seemed like a fairly established clan. Anyway, if there is no more mention, IMHO, there SHOULD be. They were nice - and probably darn interesting too. Sorry I don't know any of you, I'm a fledgling newbie, squawkin' around!! Wind to thy wings, and a "hello" gift of small chocolate sheep with tiny colored sprinkles to all!! Trae Firebird Spoiler Below this Point *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** I liked the ending! When Ilya joined the fox, the nightingale and the firebird, he said that his lousy brother Pieter would be at constant war with his neighbors, who had pledged peace to Ilya, but not Pieter; the princess would probably be beaten constantly (not that anyone deserves that, but it's still hard to feel sorry for her); and Ilya, the firebird, the fox and the bird all went off to live quite happily ever after. Plus, Ilya's nasty father Ivan not only lost two sons (i.e., possessions) - he also has to live with the knowledge that Ilya far exceeded anyone in the family! I feel sorry for the little gardener, and the other servants, who will now be unappreciated. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 6 Jun 1997 12:26:38 +0000 From: Brian Bennett To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: ShadowWolf returns Message-ID: <19970606122636.AAA15089-+AT+-LOCALNAME> ShadowWolf has returned to the list. And Kyree tend to live in that area. Kyree are mentioned as having clans, or i guess you could say packs through out those areas. And they befriend the Hawkbrothers. There are many mentions of Kyree and i think i remember someone talking about that particular group. Personaly i think that they will show up again. Maby some one reached for the wrong herb and found it worked better so they started using it on a reagular basis. And the contraceptivestuff? Well, it tastes good( Sherril) so what if some woman was using it to flavor her food, and was also unable to get pregnant again. So she had the Healer cheack her out and the healer said she was fine. Then she goes to arelatives for a bit, and while she is there it waers off and she concives. The fact that she concived there when she hasn't been able to for months at her home, prompts her to investigate the food, which is baisicly the same. Then she finds the only difference was that one herb, Takes it to the healer, who tests it on a study group and finds it really does prevent pregnancy. Or when she got herself cheacked by the healer he noticed the herb in her and asked her what she had been eating.
