Tarma's throat is damaged during the destruction of Clan Tale's'edrin. If I remember correctly, it is crushed when she is raped. Although, something nags at the back of my mind that there is a knife involved too. As noted, it lets Vanyel father Jisa, keeping the Mage-Gift alive in Valdemar. 1a. And also keeps alive the Vanyel Ashekrevon (sp?) line in Valdemar. (Making it doubly neat; the First New Herald-Mage is the descendant of the Last Herald-Mage. 1b. Also gives Vanyel another descendant to worry about, at one point in LHM. 2. And, in conjunction with the overall illness of Randale, prompts the discovery of pain-blocking (mentioned in Queen's Own, discovered in LHM). 3. I'm reaching here, but wasn't Rris, the kyree that was with Darkwind and Elspeth from Hyrrrull(including the rolled "r"s of the gryphon's speech) Pack? Could it be related like maybe the shaman had descendants who broke off from or formed an extension of the Clan, forming a Pack? And has anyone got links to Misty pages with original songs and/or humour other than the Mailing List Homepage? I am glad that the main character lived happily ever after with the firebird (I can't remember his name either) but still, think about it. For being such a jerk the other guy got a whole bunch of rewards. A pretty bride, money, lands and various other spoils left over from the magician. And maybe the Princess got what she deserved by having a horrible husband but he din't get what he deserved because if she ever gets out of line he will put her back in line (probably with force). Well, I don't know that you would have to explain it. Some people have things wrong with them, and that simply is the way it is. Randale was obviously sterile before he got sick, because Jisa is around before he got sick, and before Shavri was Chosen(if I'm wrong here, someone correct me), and you don't see the people around him going hysterical because he's sterile and they can't solve the problem. When I read the books, it just seemed that his sterility was accepted by all--even Shavri--as a fact of life, as one of those things that just IS.
