Since we are giving favorites, I had to put my two cents worth in. First, I have to say I don't really have a favorite Misty character good or bad. I like Talia, thats about it. The flavor and sensuality of her writing makes all the characters wonderful. Her writing is rich and enjoyable. I've read the Last Herald Mage books and the Arrows books several times. Which brings me to my all time favorite authors (people I've read again and again and whom I collect in hardback): 1. Mercedes Lackey 2. Robert Jordan 3. David Eddings 4. Anne McCaffery 5. There is no fifth; any suggestions? Thank you for listening. I've really enjoyed all the discussions and the list in general. Watch your head, Leslie A. Gallagher /> There can be only one... Human-female, Kero's leading by 4 votes. Non-human female, tie between 'Fandes and Need (both lead by 3 votes). Villain, Melles is leading with 2 votes. Series, LHM is leading with 4 votes. Besides Misty, of course, that goes without saying... 1 Orson Scott Card (-loved- Ender trilogy, forgot to put it on my list of fav. books. :( ) 2 Piers Anthony (okay, flame me, I really don't care--but let it be private, okay?) 3 Melanie Rawn 4 Tad Williams 5 Anne McCaffrey (though her Pern books were getting just a tiny bit repetitive, IMO) I'd like to bring up a question I had a while back, that no one really ever answered. Just for thoughts, okay? I asked then -where- Need came from. We know her basic history from those flashbacks she did with Skif, Elspeth, and Nyara. We know her land worshipped twin gods (male and female, I think). But -where- is this place? I don't think it's Iftel, Rethwellin, or Karse, and definitely -not- Valdemar or the Empire. So, where? Was she from a time so long ago that her land no longer exists and the god/goddess forgotten? I don't think there's any textevd for any of this, but I'd be very interested to hear your speculations, listsibs. Any thoughts? Please? Anyhow, I have to go, RL calls again. Will continue to catch up, so hopefully one day you won't have to read my out-of-date posts any longer. ^-^ Stars light your paths, NightSong ^-^ jwrenn-+AT+-atlonline.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 23 Jul 1997 13:15:14 -0700 (PDT) From: Roxanne Nolan To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: IreallydontknowwhyImwritingthis Message-ID: <199707232015.NAA06272-+AT+-concord.televar.com> At 03:04 PM 7/21/97 +0100, you wrote: >My favorite proverb - May ALL your children turn out like you!
