Sorry for the many short posts, but are you sure?  The Science Fiction Book
club usually puts a different cover on it and I think it's by Daw.  I'm not

 I had a list of YKYBRTMMLW to send to Becky's web page, but the dratted 
MAIL DAEMON sent it back. I was wondering if I sent it to the list could 
someone please forward it to her? Please, please, please, please, 
please. I'll give whoever does that a box of Chocolate-rasberry truffel 
sheep. It's all right if no one wants to. At least everyone on the

 Well, so far I've read two of the storys in SoI. They were really nice.
 Ke'chara means beloved as far as I know.
 At the end of Fire Rose there's a Master of Air, a Master of Earth, &a 
Master of Fire all living in one house. How is that possible? I 
understood that Earth & Air couldn't live near each other, because their 
elements were enemies. Does anyone have any thoughts on that?

Umm, I think the YKYRTMMLW list is on Herald Darla's homepage. Becky's page
was transferred to Herald Darla's. Lady Becky will not be hosting the page
anymore, I think. The new address is

However, when you click "mail them(your contribution to the list) to me",
the address is that of beckyanne-+AT+-..... or something like that, totally
different from the address on the index page...
So I think there's a mix-up, I don't know...

guess I made a booboo. I thought I had replaced Becky's email with mine

Also, as to the living arrangements in Firerose - since he was a firemaster 
and she was an airmistress, they could live in harmony, and complement each 
other.  As to the addition of the nice man who made the medicines (no book, 
forget name) - he was a DRAGONmaster - not a true earthmaster.  Apparently, 
they do things differently in the orient.  IIRC, when asked, he said he was 
closest to what we Westerners would call an earthmaster, but not quite.  Hope 
this helps.

Helya all!  I have a Misty and a non-Misty question - first:  In the Gryphon 
series, they mention that Amberdrake was studying under the churigeons (sp).  
Is that a real word? If so, what does it mean?  It's close to surgeon, I

Kimchee is a Korean food similar to saurkraut in that it is made with
cabbage. It is shredded cabbage that has been preserved in brine, drained (i
think rinsed) and mixed with hot red pepper of some description. It is
usually served at room temperature with pickled radishes. Both are really
spicy, but at the restaraunt I usually go to, the radishes are also a little
bit sweet. 

I would imagine being in deep kimchee would not be pleasant because the
capiscum in the peppers would irritate any sensitive skin (esp that which
doesn't see the light of day, if you know what I mean!)

Anyway, my cooking lesson of the day ! :)

point of using 'beloved' in three different languages--
ke'chara is Kaled'a'in
ves'tacha is Shin'a'in
ashke is Tayledras
...and though the last two languages are supposed to be derived from the 
first, they are nothing alike..hmm..interesting..

Kimchee is Korean for "pickle" and usually refers (in America) to pickled
pak choi (Chinese cabbage) and hot peppers.  It is the national dish of
Korea.  In the American parlance of a "certain age" (Korean War vets,
etc.), it has come to be a euphemistic replacement of "sh**" in the
expression "...in deep sh**."  Thus, when Vanyel was fighting Leareth, we
could say that he was in "deep kimchee."  Mind you, I have never seen it
mentioned in Misty's books, but I assume it shows up in her urban stuff?
