No, in Black it definitely says that "Urtho had mentioned some vague plans" to introduce the gryphons as another nonhuman intellegence, but the war forced them into production, as it were, throwing them in with the humans and creating a unique relationship etc. etc. etc...That was my point, that he hadn't had time to perfect them as a race. But the point is that she was putting Valdemar's safety as a country at risk simply because she didn't WANT to follow a 'safe' course. And it wasn't exactly predestined, since it didn't happen.. It was lacking something...I think it was Skandranon. :) He's one of my favorite Misty characters. The Black Gryphon was my first Misty book, and I've been hooked ever since. It's too bad gryphons don't come back as key characters in most of the other Valdemar books. Kethry PS: Has anyone read "The Sword of Ice"? It's a compilation of short stories (edited by Misty) by numerous other authors, all about Valdemar. It inspired me enough to write 3 books continuing the story of Valdemar (from where Misty left off in Storm Breaking) It's something I've always wanted to do. I've been wishing for more books on a lot of characters, and so I sat down and asked myself "What if this happened to so-and-so?" and I got so into it that I wrote a few of my own books of Valdemar, one continuing the Winds Trilogy, one introducing the kha'lurran, a species of cat people that can morph into anything between their full cat and full human forms, and they live in the deserts, and one about a wyrsa-kyree halfbreed, because I thought there should be more about the non-humans in the series. I wonder what Misty would think of me continuing her series? I hope I'm not breaking any plagarism laws. Message-ID: <19970819201459.20708.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> Dear Listsibs, I know that in one of Misty's books--most likely being the Vows and Honors set, but could've been in Wind of Fate-- I read about another form of Kal'enedral besides those bound to the Stareyed Goddess. I remember that they are bound to the Crone. They wear midnight blue instead of black and they are very rare. If anyone else remembers these Kal'enedral please post where you found them. As I recall, the Stareyed, and the Crone are the only ones who have Sword Sworn because the Maiden and Mother don't need Sword Sworn. Again I'm not sure. Does anyone else have an opinion on this. I can see where the Maiden and Mother might not need Kal'enedral. Its not like they are directly involed in wars or violence of the nature that Tarma dealt with in protecting her clan.. I'm wondering what you might have to say on this. It's 5pm now and I have none, it's very shocking... I haven't had no mail since I signed on with the list. Today has been weird. It's raining, and thundering, and the powers going out. And I live in CA. It reminds me of mage storms. ::shudders:: But I'll be fine as long as I don't see circles of ground from the artic appearing in my back yard, or my dog turning into a wysa like creature. Speaking of which: Are wyrsa dogs that got caught in those circle things or just some mutilated, sick, made up creation? Just wondering.
