Message-ID: <19970823142427.19882.qmail-+AT+-hotmail.com> Heyla Listsibs, I've been thinking--and lately thats been dangerous-- but what if we have a contest like the Misty Awards held earlier this summer. For the really new newbies we got to vote for our faverite Misty female character, male character and such. It was pretty cool. So why don't we vote for which book we'd all like to see as a movie? After that's decided we could go about picking the director and cast maybe even where we would film the movie. There's only one small problem, and its a silly one. I'm not really good at keeping track of things. I was kind of hoping that the nice listsib who organised the Misty awards would concent to doing the movie choices. Failing that, if theres anyone who'd be willing to do the organizing I'd really be grateful. Anyway if anyone can help I would be eternally grateful. Stars light thy paths, Aurora Dawnstar<< Most of my recomendations have been listed already, but I'll second them- Diane Duane's So You Want To Be A Wizard, Deep Wizardry, and High Wizardry (books 4 and 5, A Wizard Abroad and The Book of Night With Moon are suppost to be out this winter ::cheers::); and Tamora Pierce's Alanna The First Adventure, In The Hand of the Goddess, Woman Who Rides Like A Man, Lioness Rampant, Wild Magic, Wolf-Speaker, Emperor Mage, and Realms of the Gods (all of which have been reprinted and are very easy to find) (Sandry's Book is suppost to be out this winter; there's an excerpt on the web page and it looks good). (That was a rather long sentance. Oh well) One author that I would recomend that hasn't come up yet is Sherwood Smith's Wren to the Rescue, Wren's Quest, and Wren's War. I'm not sure if you can get them in paperback, but you can always try. Oh, and Anne McCaffrey's Harper Hall trilogy should be good, it has none of the sex that's in the rest of the dragonrider's books seeing as it's meant for children. I read Blue Sword when I was 11 and I'm still reading it eight years later. She does have some other books but... One is the retelling of Beauty and the Beast and the other is called The Door in the Hedge(haven't read it) If they are more sci-fi, try the Young Jedi Knights series. They are aimed at that age and are a great read for a child(short, packed full of action, and a hint of romance) There are also a series of Star Wars books that are aimed for younger children but I have no clue as to what they are. Hope this helps!
