Ok. I have tons of stuff to say (if I can remember it all)'cause I messed up my e-mail for a couple of days. Misty Movie: I was thinking maybe Renee O'Conner(Gabrielle on Xena: Warrior Princess) would make a good Kethry. Chris O'Donnel might be good for the role of 'Lendel. Lammas Night: I enjoyed seeing all the ways people came up with to tell that story. I mean one of them even 'borrowed' a character from Shakspeare's The Tempest! The only story I didn't like was the last one. It stopped right smack in the middle of a sentance! At least Misty didn't do that. i don't suppose any of the stories reminded anyone else of the Star Trek The Next Generation episode where Dr. Crusher Falls in love with her dead grandmothers lover, only to find out he's some kind of parasitic lifeform? Cola Question: Maybe the elves drink it out of plastic bottles. For the love of Misty: I was 9 or 10 when I first got MPawn out of the library. Fantasy book suggestions for Dawnfire: The Ghatti's Tale trilogy (Finders Seekers, Mindspeakers Call, & Exile's Return)by Gayle Greeno, A College of Magics by Caroline Stevermer, the Xanth series by Piers Anthony, the Tiger & Del novels (Sword Dancer, Sword Singer, Sword Maker, Sword Breaker)by Jennifer Roberson,The Mark of the Cat by Andre Norton, the Witchworld series by Andre Norton, The Unlikely Ones, & Magic Kingdom for Sale:Sold by Terry Brooks. Hope that helps.:) Just out of curiosity, does anyone happen to know if Misty uses lutes or gitterns on any of her tapes? BTW, I did something stupid & missed all the posts today(Sept.4). Could someone please fill me in privately? My addy is kilin-+AT+-olypen.com. Thank you. Ya huh, he _was_ feeling guilty back at the Caves right? But that didn't mean that Van wasn't Insane when he attacked the bandits. His eyes _were_ glowing red you know. _And_, it doesn't mean that just because 'Lendel wasn't insane during that week or more. Van had noticed that 'Lendel was growing wierder and wierder. He grew cold (like Van did towards Stef in the end), and Revenge was the only thing on his mind. I'd say that he was crazy. For gods' sake, he Shut Out his Companion! In fact, I agreed with all of it. The Newbiefest is part of the normal postings to the list, and it was uncalled for for you to post the whole thing again just because you didn't like getting it. As to why it was a private post, I believe the Councillor in question did not wish to further clog the list with something not of general interest. BTW, I saw no one say they wished to remove you from the list, only that your actions gave the impression that you wished to be forcibly removed. I am a newbie myself (one week today). I have been reading the mail, but lacking in knowledge to respond. I appreciated receiving the NewbieFest Trilogy. It answered a lot of my questions, including how to write and post this entry. I am an avid David Arkenstone fanatic, (if you've never heard his music, do!). I got Quest of the Dream Warrior, and read the story booklet written by ML & loved it! I went searching for her books. The only one my library had in was Magic's Pawn, but I couldn't identify with it, so I skipped to the Arrows series. They were GREAT so I read BTS. Then I read Winds of Fate, but I was confused about a lot of things, so I deceided to start at the beginning and read the Gryphons Trilogy. Then I read all the LHM books (much more interesting now), then Vows & Honors. I am now just starting Winds of Change. On Sun, 31 Aug 1997 00:51:39 +0100 (BST) Eos419-+AT+-aol.com writes: >. As a writer, you should understand that each book could and hopefully will be someone's first reading of your work. They should be "reader-friendly" if you will. ...I wouldn't mind a sentence or two thrown in to set up characters, situations, or, in the case of kyree/tervedi, other races. Maybe this is why when reading a new series, I always try to read them in chronological order. Plus the fact that I love mysteries, and want every chance to solve them for myself. Robert I agree. I thought by going back & reading in chronological order, I would understand everything, but I was confused about some of the creatures & places. I study all the maps in the books, but still don't know where Kerowyn hails from, and where some of the places Tarma & Kethry visited are. SOAPBOX: More detailed maps! I thought maybe I should read all of the Sword & Sorceress stories, but I tried to find them and they're out of print. Any suggestions? Anyways hope this helps and also in the Oath series it doesn't start at the begining the characters were taken from a series of short stories in some series of books of short stories I think it was called Sword and Sorceress from what I've heard I didn't read them and I think it is fine if you don't. The Council of Mist is here to make your life easier. I know i would prefer to get a private mail to clue me in, rather than a public outcry, or humiliation. They are not on this list for power, they don't ask for you to tithe them sheep, they just try and bail out people who might not be completely aware of some of the list etiquitte. The newbie fest is suggested reading for anyone new, and while you may have read it once, i know i didn't remember all the nuances for at least the first two months. So, don't take it as an attack, take it as a chance to find the things you forgot, or even just to prove that your email provider is still working! There is no need to get irritated and voice it over public email anymore than you would yell at a friend in a public place. you take them somewhere private and then discuss it. that way, chances are, the relationship is salvagable. It would be a shame if things said in the heat of passion, and not meant later, were to hurt someone, or make you feel the need to leave the list. This list is a wonderful thing, and i hope you can stay a while and enjoy it, without trauma. In her abdication speech she promised and swore that neither she nor any of her children would take the throne. She wouldn't break her sworn word to become queen she values her honor and if she could break that promise for convience or even the council what would her honor be worth.
