The issue about the newbie fest is being sorted out I believe. The issue about the obscene sendings is also being addressed. It seems to me that you approach the whole issue of obscene sendings from people like cybernut like an obscene phone call. Ignore it because replying to them only increases their illness. I have said before that we are a virtual family and as in all families there are "tiffs" which need addressing. I enjoy Mercedes Lackey's writings because I enjoy and try to adhere to the values of the Heraldic Circle. They are similar to the philosophies espoused in the StarTrek and Federation ideals - explains why I like them also. I know that we cannot expect our lives to be like sweetness and light all the time but any relationship that I believe to be important I will work at - no matter what. You, my list siblings, are important to me as I feel that I can discuss issues here as well as Misty issues. I enjoy coming to work and reading your mail. What is great about it is that it comes from such a wide range of people in age and every which way. It is great to hear from people who are discovering Misty for the first time and for those who just keep on re-reading her. It was also great to hear from list sibs who have met her (be still my beating heart!). So to all of you I send many many Zen Hugs as well as virtual koala dampers and chocolate covered macadamia nuts. PS I started reading Misty with the S & S anthologies when I was about 40yoa - am now nearly 46. May your days be filled with joy and happiness and your nights with love. I can think of a few explanations for this visitation: Ty's spirit can control the body and act independently, or (my favorite) the visitation occurred while Stefen was asleep, so he could have been out of his body to talk to Van. >There were two other Clans, Eagle and Fox where it did not specify what >side they went to, Tayledras or Shin'a'in. This made me question something, and remember something...1st, why is it "Mage Wars" trilogy? Only in the first book is the war going on. Yes, in all three books, characters deal with the repurcussions of the wars, but no more so than in the "Storm" books. Secondly, before BG came out, I read something (I believe in the QO newsletter) about the trilogy taking place over the span of thousands of years. Did Misty change her plans? Does anyone else remember this? Wel, enough for now...Take Care.... I'm sure he was! In fact, when the Hawkbrothers told Savil about it, Moondance said: "We think--and have proved, insofar as such a thing is possible to prove--that souls are reborn, sometimes even crossing species' boundaries. Rebirth into something of like intelligence, a "hertasi" perhaps being reborn as a "kyree", or a "kyree" as a human" The Hawkbrothers believed "that your Stefen is, or was, the young one called Tylendel". Of course Savil didn't believe it at first, I wouldn't have either, but later her behavior toward Stefen changed, taking him "under her wing" as Van then discovered later. There were some signs that Van recognized: that Stefen "felt" like 'Lendel; the fact that the first morning together Stefen called Van "ashke", the Tyledras word for "beloved" before even knowing what it meant, or that 'Lendel used to call Van "ashke". Finally there were Van's dreams, when he was a teenager Tylendel appeared in those dreams, which eventually disappeared; but when Van was older (in MPrice) those dreams came back and instead of Tylendel, Stefen was in them. Moondance also told Savil the reason for this to happen: "There is a debt owed to Vanyel because of what happened. There is unfinished business because Tylendel failed as a Herald." And I think that is why Stefen was born as a poor child. In Puerto Rico, Catholic beliefs are mixed with some of the African culture that came with the slaves three centuries ago, and with the Taino Indians beliefs. Those who believe in reincarnation, also believe that when there is unfinished business on Earth, the soul returns an pays for things done in the past, usually bad things. This theme is also discussed by mexican author Laura Esquivel (author of the novel "Like Water for Chocolate") in her book "The Law of Love" ("La ley del amor") Stefen developed a rare Gift, I think this is due to the fact that he was almost a Herald in his former life and had the Mage Gift. Apparently his soul carried traces of his Gifts as Tylendel, and kind of "transformed" them so Stefen could use them this time for good, to help people. The punishment Stefen suffered as a child in the streets, was what he paid for what 'Lendel did; in other words, what he did in a a past life. About 'Lendel's insanity, well, I think that Lendel had had a very troubled life before becoming a Herald Trainee, and this could get in his way as a Herald, if he had become one. Besides, if he hadn't gone mad, there would never had been a LHM Vanyel. :) Yaisha Vargas ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was just wondering if Stefen was 'Lendels reincarnation. Because it sort of implys it but they never actually came out and said it. I would like to everyone thinks about this. I personally think that he is. But I would like to know what you think. I can >accept the reincarnate. . . but this suggests a PARTIAL reincarnate if >Lendel's spirit is still running around. >Anyone have any help for me? *************************************** That's a very good question, Joel, and I asked that to myself when I read the novel. The fact is that Stefen was sleeping when Tylendel "visited" him. From what I've heard of people that believe in reincarnation in the real world, you can't remember things from another life consciously because you don't have the same brain (at least that makes sense). But unconscioulsy you can remember, for example if you're hipnotized or sleeping. The soul of course "remembers" everything. I've read too, that when you sleep, your soul leaves your body and guides itself to it again by a kind of string or trace, that could be interpreted as the bond between the soul and the body, and it is cut when you die. But again, that is only a belief. And if we're taking about a story, that as well may be true. So I can deduce, and this is an opinion; that since Stef was sleeping then his soul could *visit* Vanyel's dreams as Tylendel. Errm, does it make any sense to you?
