I'm referring to is, in Winds of Fate, I would assume it was written
after the Mage Wars>> 

The 'Winds of Fate and the Mage wars came out at about the same time. 
I think Winds of Fate was first, followed by Black Gryphon, then Winds
of Change, then White Gryphon, then Winds of Fury, then Silver
Gryphon.  It seemed she was working on both series at the same time.

Hang on, wasn't it the Mage Storms and the Mage Wars that came out around the 
same time? Far as I remember, I found US editions of all the Winds in London; 
then Black Gryphon came out, then Storm Warning, White Gryphon, Storm Rising, 
Silver Gryphon and finally Storm Breaking. (Thankfully in UK editions).
I _think_ it says somewhere (either an interview she did, or someones web 
page) that it was the Storms and Gryphons that she was writing both trilogies 
at once.

Hello :o)

Well, I think it's high time I emerge from hiding under a rock ;o) I've 
subscribed to the list for a few weeks now and have been enjoying myself 
reading the daily mails (altho I've switched to the digest coz I cannot keep 
up with the huge amount of mails...) 

To introduce myself, my name is Melody and I've been reading Mercedes 
Lackey's books since I was 15, which was two years ago. My friend introduced 
my first fantasy book, Magic's Pawn to me and eversince, I fell totally in 
love with Vanyel and fantasy. I'm thorougly amazed by Mercedes Lackey's style 
of writing and reading her books transports me into a totally different 
world.

Anyway, I guess that's all I have to say for now :o) And erm, I'm sorry if my 
mail is considered fluff and time and money wasting :oP

Heyla listsibs!  I managed to acquire a copy of Owlflight, which I read too 
fast, and so must re-read.  This does not contain any spoilers - I'm not even 
going to say anything except that it was really good.  It gives me hope that 
the Velgarth novels will continue:)  I thought SB was going to be the last, 
and that Owlflight took place before the Storm trilogy.  I'm glad I was 
wrong.  Anyway, it was a really good book, I hope you can all get copies 
ASAP.  FYI, the price at Atlantic Book Warehouse was -+AT+-$19 (I lost the 
receipt, but I know it was 19 something).  They only had 2 advanced copies.  
WTTW, and toasted marshmallow sheep to all for the fluff!

I just got back from the bookstore and they have Owlflight!!!!! I convinced
my mom to buy it and I can't wait to read it!! I have to finish Sacred Ground
first ::pouts:: It should be a good book though. Anyone have a complete list
of all of Misty's books? Everytime I think I've got them all, I run across
another ten or so ::smiles:: Not that I mind, but I'd like to keep from going
to the bookstore every week. I think the people are tired of seeing me (c:

people for a while and I just wanred to say: Come on lurkers say

	Well . . . this is my first non-private message, and I haven't
read the FAQs yet because I lot the URL, so . . .=20

	Anyway. Around here, there are only two book stores really -
B. Dalton and Waldenbooks. Waldenbooks seems to get them faster but
only from Misty, not things like Lamma's Night (which I found at B.
Dalton but still haven't convinced my mom to get) or Sword of Ice
(which I also found at B. Dalton). B. Dalton also seems to keep them
in longer, for instance you can still buy BG at B. Dalton but not at
Waldenbooks. I also find that B. Dalton has the wider selection of
fantasy (five or six row thingies, instead of one half-wall like
Walden) although Walden probably has a higher selection overall,
because it's a much bigger store. And Walden is also organized in a
way that's easier to understand. From what I hear, however, Barnes and
Noble gets books almost as soon as they're out. I don't know where the
nearest Barnes and Noble store is, I've only been in one once (in
Seattle with my mom and my aunt and I think my cousin too), and so I
can't give a good opinion about it.=20

have very poor selections on Misty books. I have found that the best 
source for her books are from the library.

I live in a small town in North Carolina, USA, but I can go into Raleigh or 
Cary another larger town and the Barnes & Nobles in general has the best 
selection of SF.  Since I have several authors that I keep an eye on, 
Misty, Anne McCaffery, Piers Anthony, etc... they are also pretty good 
about ordering things for me when I cannot find them anywhere else. 
 Although I need to hit some used book stores to find some of the S&S 
books.  Who has a list of the ones that contain stories about Tarma & 
Kethry?  I'd appreciate it if someone would email me the list privately at 
Mysttree-+AT+-phantomreality.com.  TIA

I just moved to Portland, and the have a bookstore called Powell's here,
that has a shelf and a half of misty, and it's wonderful - it even has a
coffee shop to feed one's stomach while can't pull nose out of book! :)

Here in Houston, Barnes & Noble or Bookstop have the most Lackey novels on
their shelves, as far as I can tell.  They usually have quite good
selections of her Valdemar and Gryphon books.  The SERRAted Edge books are
somewhat less common, and the Tregarde novels or books like Lammas Night are
rarer.  Generally, her non-Valdemar books are widely visible only when they
have recently come out.
     BTW, will she be writing any more SERRAted Edge books in the future?
I've enjoyed them.  (I still want to see Elves at NASA.  Think of all the
high-tech plastics and ceramic materials they could come up with for use on
the space shuttle and space station.  There's even a really good Italian
restaurant right next to JSC for the elves to dine at.  But I
digress...(g)).

I get most of my Misty books at Borders, also known as Basset's.  They have a
great selection of books on the shelves and plenty not on the shelves.  You
just have to look.

hi:) I'm not a "lurker in the  shadows", but just a newbie in training with an
opinion. In my opinion, the best bookstore in Charlotte, NC area is Borders!!!
They have a wide selection of Misty's books! Anyone else in the NC area??? :)

Hmmm...well in Topeka, KS Hastings is cool.  They have a lot, and only
take a day or two to special order what they do not have, plus all books
are 10-20% off and they are brand new.  Barnes & Noble is okay too.

Ok, here's the 411 ~~


I've been reading these books since I was 15 (23 now), love them passionately, once wrote a thank you letter to Misty for introducing an incredible main character and portraying his sexuality in such a way that she opened my mind.....LHM is the best series, ever, period.  :)


In Southern Oregon, Barnes & Noble is the *only* place you can find more than one or two of her books at a time, but even they let me down the other day -- I went looking for Storm #3 and they had none!  (Slightly off topic, I also like the Harpers series in Forgotten Realms and they were out of the new one there, too.)  I recently found the B&N web site where you can mail order tho and it seems *very* reasonable price wise even after you figure in s&h.  


I heard from my mom recently that there were no more Diana Tregarde books coming and was crushed -- I am doing a year of serious study in witchcraft and thought the way she portrayed the whole thing was amazing.   The Valdemar books are the best, of course, but it was fun to read something else she had done that I could relate to.


I also have to say that I am insanely jealous of anyone who has a public library that gets new Misty stuff ~~ the most recent ours has is the Arrows trilogy!  


I've killed enough space here ~ but the request was put out for the lurkers & newbies and since I filled both I couldn't resist!

Heyla all!
 I think the best bookstore for Misty where I live is The Odessey(sp?) 
Bookstore. Last time I was there it had like two shelves for Misty. There 
was a bookstore in the San Francisco  airport that seemed to have a good 
selection of Misty also.

 Anyone happen to know when Owlflight comes out in paperback?

Not sure if it appears anywhere else, but "Children of the Night" 
is one place I have seen it - early in the book it's said by DT.  :)
