Which Misty books have you read ? No offense intended. Don't worry it comes
up a lot. If want I'll tell you at the end of this message after my
signature. In Magic's Promise Moonsong, Starwind, and Savil talk about that
and Vanyel thinks about it in Magic's Price. That issue is even mentioned in
the Winds series.

Yeah, I think I read the same thing! (Sorry guys, I couldn't resist the

Hmmm I've 2 questions here:

1)What's the deal? I just read "Spiritride" by Mark Shepard, set in the
same world as SERRAted Edge, and he wrote that the older Elves were, the
longer the ears. Hello, if that was the case, Keighvin would have floppy
ears? Oberon would have ears dragging on the ground? And the main elvish
character (forgot his name) was 17, and a youth. Aren't Elves supposed to
be older? Maclyn was over 200 yrs old and he was a youth! What's the deal?

2) On WoC, DAW, pg 168, it is written:
    " In fact, if there was a way to destroy his very soul, she'd do it, so
that there wouldn't even be a chance that he'd be reborn and start over
again, as some mages could." 
They knew that mages could be reborn(like Ma'ar). So why were they so hyped
about Falconsbane = Ma'ar = Leareth?

This is a slow list?  Greetings to all.  I only joined the list yesterday, so
although I don't qualify as a lurker, I am definately a newbie.  Also new to
the internet, so I have never encountered a mailing list before, but knew if
I wanted to talk about anything it would be Mercedes Lackey.

All of my mail may seem slow due to a time difference.  I am stationed in
England, therefore read all the good things you send in your messages about
12 hours after you write them.  I am envious of all of you having great
bookstores to go to.  The publishers in England are dreadfuly slow in getting
books not published here, and the bookstore on base is tiny.  There was a
mention of Barnes & Noble mail order, may I have more information on this?
 As if to prove my point, I have never heard of Owlflight, what is this?  A
sequel?

I'm sorry if I jumped in with a message too quickly, but I am really excited
about sharing ideas with other fans.

Hardly a slow list. You can get up to 218 messages a week! (My comp broke
down-as usual- and I returned to find 218 messages from this list alone.)

Heh heh, I'm guilty of lurking around too, but that's coz I really 
have nothing to say as a newbie.......anyway, the places where I find 
the most of misty selection would be the library or book stores 
dealing with buying and selling of books. I tried searching at proper 
book stores but the collection is really pathetic, and anyway, I get 
my books cheaper from buying used books, new Misty books here sell for 
an average of $15, and borrowing from the libraries are really hard 
since her books are VERY popular :o)

the place i have gotten most of my misty books (besides ths library, of
course) has been the science fiction book club....inexpensive hard
covers....if you have a friend who's a member, you can sign up through them
and use their universal guide to pick your free books...a veratible
collection, instantly! ain't that just the American way!

Sorry for the short post, but I thought of a way we can discuss endings
of books.... in the title type (using Jinx High as an example)

book and do not want to discuss the ending. delete the message or do not
read it!

Oh yeah, the Þ is hold ALT and press 0222 on the number pad...this works
on a PC....on mac...I am not sure.

One last thing, very important, sort of...how do I keep the list from
bouncing my submissions back?  I know you are getting them, I just don't
need my own coming back to me...

Dear Listsibs,
Mercedes Lackey's books availability from an Australian perspective. Her
later books especially the Mage Storm series is generally available from
most good book stop chains ie Angus and Robertson and Dimocks etc. I found
that I had to order her other books from the USA. Luckily I have a fabulous
bookshop in my neighbourhood who orders me books from all over the place.
When they come from USA they are cheaper - go figure! 
My recommendation is to cultivate a really good relationship with small
bookshop which will allow you to get the books you want and a discount!
Mind you, I buy a book a week from them! My clothes are threadbare though!
This bookshop is very computer literate and is able to tell me when books
are available as well. I also send most of my orders via Email to them -
dangerous stuff. My chief wants in books at the moment are the S & S series
from V on so I will be using their Biblio service which searches for out of
print books. Not very expensive especially when searching for many. 
So good hunting to all of you!

Oh, not me.. Around here the library has the stupid habit of buying one
or two of a series.. Rarely the first!!

Our library has The Lark and the Wrens, Winds of Fate, all 3 MageStorm
books, White Gryphon, and SIlver Gryphon, plus a couple of her other
books - Has anyone read Firebird?  Is it any good?

Yes, but that makes it somewhat confusing for us that don't know what all
the things are at first...

I had a heck of a time figuring out Dyheli before reading Winds of Fate
(The next Valdemar at my library)

And I'm still pondering something, maybe someone here can help:

	In Black Gryphon, they discuss a thing called a dyrstaf that
induces fear.  Skan says it doesn't attack directly, so shields don't
keep it out.  But in the next breath, he says the mages and healers and
empaths were shielded, and not effected, but anyone else in the Palace
was!  Explain, please...

Oh cool I am not the only one who apreciated the colaboration for the

Eight-bit characters are not valid in e-mail headers.  (They may be
valid in the body of the message, depending on which character encoding
is specified in the headers.)  On my screen, the 8-bit character above
looks sort of like a P, but with a lowered top line.  I have no idea
what it looks like on your screen, or on anyone else's.

Also, keep in mind that many people read this list in digest form, with
all the messages concatenated.

palace. Mages, Healers, & Empaths have full _personal_ shields up all the 
time, not _magical_. There _is_ a difference, I'm just not sure what it 
is.

	That's what it looks like to me too: =DE. might not look like
that to anyone else though, I once had the pi symbol reach someone as
the Hard return mark. <shrugs>=20

Yes, just read this weekend, and loved it - if you love myth and folklore,
esp old Celtic/Russian kind, this will refuse to be put down, and will
follow you faithfully around the house demanding to be read! Can you tell I
enjoyed it? :)

Oh, I can't help but disagree!  You meanie!  If I had waited till all the other books came out, I would've missed 6 great years of being able to read the Arrows trilogy and LHM every night before I went to sleep!  I vote for starting with Arrows.  Less -- hmmn -- involved than the other books, and they set the scenes wonderfully.  :)

No, no, no...The first chapter of Arrows gives away the ending to LHM (which
isn't exactly secret, but the characters that are there, etc.  have a little
mystery in the trilogy).

     I say start with LHM, go through the Winds books, then pick up the
Griffin books (Sorry, they are NOT about the mage wars, the wars are over
after the first book), then go on to the Storm books.

     BTW, does anyone know if Jody Lee has print ordering online?

     BTW2, I'm looking for a print of the cover of Melanie Rawn's Dragon
Prince, and Glass Onion is out.  Does anyone know of any stores which might
carry it?
