Maybe 'twas a YAMI?
ah hah! DAW, pg 330. Drake goes:
" 'And since it isn't _precisely_ attacking anyone or anything, most
protective spells won't shield from it.' " 
pg331, he goes: " ' The _mages_ always slept under all kinds of personal
shielding, so of course they weren't affected. Anyone with Healer training
would also have slept under shields; remember, most Healers have some
degree of Empathy, and this was an _emotion_. They would also have been
protected against it.' "

See, Drake said _most_ shields won't. Not ALL. All shielding includes those
guarding against emotions, so the mages would have been protected against
it. It's not an attacking weapon, so the Palace shields don't guard against
it, besides, it was activated _behind_ the shields, the shields couldn't
keep out something that was inside it!

And I can't do that alt 0222 thingey. Nope, I tried, can't do it!

Well, I don't really qualify as newbie or lurker, but thought I might as well 
put my comments in on this subject!!!!! <- yes I know
The bookshops here in Oxford are pretty good. At least, Blackwells generally 
has some USA books in and will order anything for you so long as you can give 
them title, author, or ISBN.
 
Whoever it was who said they're stationed in the UK (delete key strikes again) 
if you're anywhere near London, Bristol or Edinburgh there's a chain of shops 
called _Forbidden Planet_ who specialise in USA science-fiction/fantasy and 
comics.
 
On a totally non-Misty note, _The Book of Night With Moon_ by Diane Duane is 
out in the UK :> It is definitely worth reading :> (It appears in the USA this 
winter)

1) Not that I am aware of (if someone on-list knows better, do tell me ;))

2) Nope, Companions are assigned only through Queen's Own, which is an 
entirely separate deal.

Because what Ma'ar did is not reincarnation, it was, for lack of a better
term, theft of bodies and murder of souls. Not a soul being reborn like 
'lendel but a soul forcing it's way into another soul's home and 
destroying the owner.

Well, usually I do lurk and am relatively new to the list - but I have
found good luck at Barnes & Noble, Media Play and a local used book
store where, for some reason, you can always find copies of Misty books.
(Which amazes me as I NEVER would get rid of them - only replace once
they fall apart!)

Hmm, that's interesting.. Then perhaps (pleasepleaseplease) there are

That makes more sense, because the gryphons in Winds were *vastly*
different then those in the Gryphon Trilogy.  If they were being written
simultaneously you would expect them to be basically the same.

Well, someone will probably tell me I'm wrong, but I was under the
impression that it took a special spell to be able to come back (as Ma'ar
did) with memories and all intact.  It sounded like he took over an
existing body, not being born again.. Ma'ar committed suicide in Black
when faced with the Mage-bomb, ranting about revenge, coming back, yadda
yadda yadda, you know the drill.  



Question:  I heard that Larry Dixon drew the Firekkans in Wing Commander:

Usually I just lurk and read, but I thought I would put my 2 cents in on this
thread! I'm a Waldenbooks Manager and the selection of Misty's books at my
store is quite good but that's probably because I love her stuff:)
Unfortunately bookstores stock what sells and I have noticed especially
watching this list that we all shop at different places. Misty sells well for
me but at another of our stores her stuff sits on the shelf( can't figure
that one out though!). So as long as we keep buying her stuff everywhere they
should stay in stock. Don't know that this means anything just thought I'd
unlurk and comment.

	Some email programs do that automatically, like mine. :-) So I
can double click and it'll go there. And most email programs don't
support html text, either, like mine. Eudora does, at least some (I
know you use it . . . function of Agent I like), I know because my
