I'm not sure if they remember anything about past lives. IIRC Misty seems a little unclear herself...doesn't it say somewhere(I think in AFlight) that the Monarch's Own Companion was considered to have more experience than the other Companions because he had been around longer. But doesn't it say somewhere else(I think WoFate) that Gwenna didn't have as much experience as other Companions because she was Grove born? Help, I'm confused!!!!!(5) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Quick questions: Do we ever get any more info on Selenay or Daran's twins? The last time I seem to remember them being mentioned was in WoFury. I haven't read SB yet and I'm dying to know if we find out any more about Vkandis and Kal'enel...anyone want to keep me from dying of curiosity? One more question...Do Companion's ever fall in love? The only relationship I remember being mentioned was one of very close friendship between Kris and Dirk's Companions. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Lady of the SummerSunShine http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Acropolis/4474 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 21 Sep 1997 22:56:09 -0700 From: Sorana Shadowcat To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Several bits... I'm showing myself to be a complete mine of useless info by saying that even though I've not read the books for a couple of years I can still recite the entire thing. I can even remember the one that starts:- " When the Dark comes rising six shall turn it back......." ************************************************ Zha'hai'allav'a Kalen Shena Vuysher'edras Kal'enedral [OIB](AKA Jason Stokes) 95662014-+AT+-mmu.ac.uk "If we shadows have offended, think but this and all is mended. I know that for printed material you have to get a release form from Misty or Judith at Queens Own to have things printed. I think there was something on the list last year about fanfic on email and the web and as I said ?I think it came out as don't do it. ************************************************ Zha'hai'allav'a Kalen Shena Vuysher'edras Kal'enedral [OIB](AKA Jason Stokes) 95662014-+AT+-mmu.ac.uk "If we shadows have offended, think but this and all is mended. AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Sorry but as a Welsh person I shuddered when I saw the above. "FF" = "f" "F" = v ************************************************ Zha'hai'allav'a Kalen Shena Vuysher'edras Kal'enedral [OIB](AKA Jason Stokes) 95662014-+AT+-mmu.ac.uk "If we shadows have offended, think but this and all is mended. (This is not a flame, just a marvelously available example. I think sometimes the list feels that the Councilors are exaggerating this situation.) The reason for this is that a large volume of messages could overload the listserver that is used by the administrator of the list (Mel). This computer is used for her business and it is only because of Her interest in Misty that she allows us to use it. I know I sent you the URL for the Newbie Fest. This covers the whole thing in detail. If there's anything you don't understand, please mail me directly. The Council is here to help you and I will do whatever I can to help. I'm sorry for that, I was going through the mail and answering as I was going. Things were a bit of a rush this morning as I wanted to clear 95 messages and then get home to finish writing out my Post Grad application form. I'm doing a unit at university this year on Fantasy literature and would like to get oppinions of a number of different people about how they think Fantasy relates to society ect. What better place to get this info than from this list. I'm using Misty's work as the main research material for this unit as well as a few other authors. Anybody interested in giving me their point of view please mail private [address below] and I'll let you know when I'm getting on with the report ect. All companions can, just most of them can't use it for more than-oh, the usual. That's why we're white, you know--ask Darkwind about node-energy and bleaching." Then Darkwind replys to the question: "Use of node-energy gradually bleaches a mage; the color-making dies in skin, hair, and eyes, and the color that is already there is leeched away. So--your Companions use node-energy, and thus are blue-eyed, silver-coated, and gray-hooves." I think Misty's explanation of why she created her Companion characters white with blue eyes makes a lot of sense. It seems LOGICAL to me that some one that uses a lot of the natural resources of the earth energies would have such consequences. Whether it was her intention to justify her idea of white as the color of purity or not, I do not know. But it is a good explanation non-the-less. And about the blue eyes; whenever anyone is chosen, they look into the Companions eyes, which seem to go on forever. That reminds me of looking into the sky, which seems to go on forever. And Misty uses the sky in her Goddess themes. I am talking like a philosopher, which I am not, but I just got on a roll!
