Well, I have a 13 year old cat and recently moved out of my parents house...my cat stayed there and when I visit he seems to both be mad at me for leaving him and happy to see me back. Of course, he always was a little wacky, so maybe that is why! Heyla all - had to reply to animal fluff!! I know our one cat is extremely attached to my husband. One November night we came home from work, and since it was nice, just stayed out and put up the Christmas lights. When we came in, around 8:30pm, she jumped up on the sofa-table and walked towards him, tail high in the air, meowing in a kind of clipped way that sounded like she was really angry he didn't come in earlier. She also "yells" at me when I kiss him goodnight, and kneads & licks his neck each night before bed. If that's not a relationship, I don't know what is.... IMHO, i think that there is 3 levels to the bardic gift, just like the mage gift, 1/ effect peoples emotions. 2/ effect people physicaly ie pain block. 3/ control and manipulate magical energy. and that we just have'nt seen the 3rd level in valdmar, yet! I'm not sure where the "3 levels... just like the mage gift" part comes from. Are you thinking of Adept/Master/Journeyman/Apprentice? As for the pain blocking -- Stefen's Gift was explained as a "wild talent"; no other mention of side effects from the Bardic Gift has been mentioned in the Velgarth/Valdemar books AFAIK. I don't see any reason to think the Bardic Gift could manipulate magical energy (as in "node energy" or "ley line energy").
