I _should_ remember something like that (doesn't mean I do though). Maybe I should go read my book again. I'm starting to get a little confused.(Must be 'cause I'm sick) I don't particularly want to see a book about the founding of Valdemar. Wait, I know, this isn't a mistake because : Selenay is a very weak foreseer, and can't see far enough into the future to tell that the lightbulb will break, and that it is the lightbulb that will break.. But, I'd think, as we are from all around the country, and the world, we'd say things differently, not because one way is right or wrong, but because we all have drastically different accents. Can we drop the Van-age thing already? I know it sounds a bit testy, but I'm tired of recieving fifteen emails all stating the exact same thing... It goes quite nicely with my purple hair. ON another note, what is this "Elfquest" I've heard about recently on the list? I think I'd heard of it before, but I don't know where. Also is anybody else getting REALLY sick of the fact that all the new Valdemar novels have been taking place during that same time period? I for one am getting kind of bored with the whole situation. I wish she'd pick a different time period to write about in history. Here's an idea: What about a book about the Windrider cycle (sort of) only from either the perspective of someone who is not directly involved in it/caught up in it, or someone from a generation or two later looking back on it or hearing about it? Kind of like how Emily Bronte's "Wuthering Heights" or Diana Paxson's "White Raven " were done? That people might enjoy. Kristin Also does anyone else think the reason why the quality of ML's books have gone down and they're being churned out faster and faster might have something to do with the fact that a new PAPERBACK copy of SB is SEVEN DOLLARS U.S. MONEY? ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 07 Oct 1997 00:15:13 -0400 From: Tiffany_Moore-+AT+-post.wesleyan-college.edu (Tiffany Moore) To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: Misty Braid/Filk Message-ID: <3334860798.17650902-+AT+-post.wesleyan-college.edu> Owlflight starts shortly after that one ends. I'd much rather see one about the Heralds Sunsinger & Shadowdancer.> Add my vote on this, but it seems to me that the story of the founding of Valdemar would include the story of the first Heralds. I only have the story in the songs to go on, but in Windrider it speaks of "Valdemar's Heir" as a person, not a title, thus I would assume it is Baron Valdemar's son. Giving up their power for him seems to be the first true heraldic act, and I always assumed it was this which set up the idea of heralds in his land when he was restored to his place. Are there other places besides her music where we get information on Sunsinger and Shadowdancer? The elementals corresponding to these were gnomes, sylphs, salamanders, and undines. Master Pao uses a different system of elementals, but the only one mentioned is the one for Earth, the Dragon. Also, I would like to read a story about more of what happened to Stef after Van's death. You get that little peek, and then she skips until his death. A couple of short stories would be interesting. I also want to hear more about the Haileigh (sp?) from the gryphon books, and where they are at in present times. I happen to like it when she sticks to one time period for awhile. I don't mind the jumping, but sometimes it's nice to return to something familiar. ****************** Thanks to RPierce for mentioning the Elfquest stuff. I didn't know about that, and I love ElfQuest! ElfQuest and Misty...how can you go wrong? Has anybody read the brief stories she did for David Arkenstone? Quest of the Dream Warrior or something? A friend of mine got the cd and said it was good, but I was wondering what the Misty devotees thought of it. (She doesn't read fantasy novels often).
