Author vary hugely on what can and can't be done in their books based off of what they want to happen. And IMSVHO, authors who let their heros slay gods are getting to munchkin. I don't remember much about Hulda, except that she was the nurse for a while, moved on to Ancar, and all the while was in cahoots with the Empire. But it seems to me that she was an underhanded villian, meaning that she didn't really do anything out in the open, never actually shouted out "Here I am and I'm evil!" didn't the Heralds hear about her kinda by accident? (I am willing to be shot down on this one if anyone has any info as i don't have the book on hand) Or, as the case of Ancar, I wanted the book to be over because I was _sick_ of hearing about him, and several times actually !skipped! parts about him. Mornelith remnded me of the energizer bunny, he just kept going and going....and wouldn't you think that a mage of his caliber would be able to safeguard against (for lack of better word) seepage from his host bodies? (am I mistaken here??) It also seems to me that, as far as character development, Misty's earlier books (LM, Arrows...) had more, even though they were shorter. It is almost like she is cramming in as much as she can into one book. well, must go study, brain is turning to mush, and is anyone here fluent in Turbo Pascal?? Yes, she is bad and evil and what not, but remeber, the emporer said some thing to the effect that she always wanted more power. I think what this is trying to say is that even though she was working for the emporer, it didn't matter to her, she was just trying to get more power her own way. Every chance she got to get power, she took it. So remember that even though she was working for the emporer, she just wanted power. If it was up to her, she probably wouldn't work for the emporer except that that is the easiest way to earn power. I was once a child, where only fun was, but now, it is no more, as if it never was. Even if it is done off list, the fact that it is mentioned and offered on this list can cause our listowner legal problems according to UK and US laws. And of course it can cause endless trouble to the chat service you would be using and to you or anyone who went along with it. If you wish to roleplay in Misty's world, you should get in contact with the Queen's Own. You could email some of the people in Arrow's Online, the AOL branch of the Queen's Own to get more information (they have a list of about 5 or six contact email addies on their webpage http://members.aol.com/kadia/). There is also a snail mail address: Queen's Own, P.O. Box 132, Shiloh, NJ 08353. Roleplaying im Misty's world is absolutely not allowed unless you are a member of the Queen's Own. Misty is *very* protective of her copyrights. One of the most frequently asked questions is "is there a Valdemar MUSH, MUD or MOO?" and "who wants to help me start a Valdemar MUD?". The answer is always no, and always will be no (or at least it will be no until such a time as Misty herself decides to allow it, if ever). That specific question was asked in Dragon*Con, IIRC what some of the list members who attended said. Can anyone tell us what she said? Kory? anyone? If we respect Misty as an author, we should respect her wishes about copyrights. My apologies if I sound preachy, but this is a serious issue, and one that seems to be turning up too often of late.
