Okay, I agree that Vanyel and Stef definitly admitted guilty to the big "forget" spell in the last of the Mage Winds. I remember reading that. Also, as for the Vanyel with Bardic gift after the blast issue, I remember Savil thinking about the irony of the situation to herself, no actually maybe she was talking it over with Jaysen. So he definitly had it. My opinion is that it really didn't mean that much to Van because he caught the Herald "hunger" after taking care of the icedrake and Krebain in Pawn. Remember "Lendel telling him about WHY Heralds do the things they do? Also Starwind, Moondance and Savil discussed this "hunger" at length mant times after Van was brought to K'Treva. I feel that this was the main reason why the Bardic issue was dropped and Van never seemed to dwell on it. Another possibility is that his greif over losing 'Lendel just totally eclipsed the loss of music. As for Jervis, I really think he was joking with Van. Otherwise he might have said something after he and Van had their first discussion on the bad feelings between them. Jervis said something about knowing plenty of "sheildmates" in his old merc days.
