You may not like it, and I am personally ambivalant to it, but the catholic church has been experiencing a backlash to its actions over the past few centuries that only seems to keep acceleratiing. It is only Misty's turn to play with it, and until she uses this subplot in more than one fantasy setting is only the authors traditional right. Give her the same slack you would have given any other author that chose a subject that you don't care for: Don't read the book, and ignore any comments on it. It is called "Stealing Jesus". The interesting thing is that the author devides the church into two groups (any church) the church that has legalistic rules and the church that believes the Deity loves us and wants us to be happy. Now the church of love accepts things like homosexuals, and women who have their own mind, so the law church thinks the love church is evil and the love church thinks the law church is evil. Unlike the heralds, the church can have both villians and heros in it. In other words, I like the theme. ;-) Your Loving Sis Lucinda ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 19 Nov 1997 14:22:42 -0600 From: "Dawn Anderson" To: Subject: Re: Vampires! There is no doubt in my mind that Tregrad and Serrated are the same universe. Kal'vay >> I'm actually positive - and here's why. If you look carefully, in Jinx High there's a reference to.... damn! Ummm.... wossisname, from the SERRAted Edge books, the human mage/mechanic guy. His name is on the tip of my tongue! I think that he makes a cameo appearance. Hi, I've been thinking about this everytime I read the books so I thought I'd comment on this. Personally, I think that this has all happened after the cataclysm (i'm not sure that that's the right word for it) that's supposed to happen on Earth some time in the future. It makes a lot of since for some of the things that are described, the "gypsy vans" you mentioned I'm taking are supposed to be the "horse-less wagons" that the really smart people (lots of hair, Old Owl in Eagle and the Nightengale) use, I'm really sorry but I don't have any of my books with me to find names. My personal thought on the "horseless wagons are that they sound a lot like the rvs (winnebagos, whatever they are), I mean they have lights that don't use fire, have seating and bed arrangements in them, cooking and bathing facilities with storage compartments for the wastes. Also, in _Eagle.._ it sounded like her boss had a tape recorder (a black box which had smaller boxes that went in them) and a laptop, or a type writer (he was clicking away at something while T'fyrr was talking). As for all the different species...I actually never thought about that too much, I figured it was due to some kind of mutations. Hope this helps. Message-ID: <3473D86E.3CD7-+AT+-ziplink.net> Coming from a Fantasy background I know that the Gryghon is part bird of prey and part Big Cats of prey.Misty was just giving us a referance as to the size of the Gryphons, when saying they were as big as a draft horse. The Hippogrif is part Horse an part Bird of prey.It has the foreclaws and head of the Bird and the body and hindquarters of the horse. I hope that I have helped.
