Message-ID: Heyla! I'm kinda new. I may have made an introduction letter before winter break, but I don't remember. My name is Danielle but I also go by Ari Anna and (this is what everyone calls me) Joey. I'll only explain that last one if someone asks. I like reading fantasy but unfortunately I read too fast. I say this is unfortunate because my funds cannot keep up with my need to read (not to mention my shelves). I like cats, fairies, the moon, dragons, unicorns, etc. I am a Christian which kinda contradicts my love for fantasy. I attend SUNY Stony Brook and I am an English major hoping to minor in Medieval studies (just for fun). I like this list and its discussions and i am also looking for people to write to on a non-list basis. (I just read this over and boy is it boring. I hope I don't put anyone to sleep.) I do not think that pinks and purples are the correct way to go about in adding color to a Companion and Heraldic whites, I think going for more of the blue and greys would be better. As for not drawing the covers of the books to fit exactly, Jody Lee (who does most of the covers) has artistic lisence, and her covers have to be eye catching. So she can put what ever scene, combanation of scenes, or picture she wants. Also we each preive what the characters should look like, and no two would be exactl alike. Looking for a bit of help remembering something... It's been 2 years since I read the Arrows books, By the Sword, and Winds of * and I'm now working on the last of the Mage Storms books... Firesong is remembering being conscripted by Vanyel to help Valdemar... "By now he must have recovered from the effort of taking down the Web - and Vanyel at full strength had been powerful enough to wrest away control of a Gate he had not erected to transport 5 humans, 4 gryphons, a dyheli, two Companions and two bondbirds all the way from a site at the edge of the Dhorisha Plains to the heart of the Forest of Sorrows beyond Valdemar's northern border." What "conscription" he is talking about, what Web, and when/why did this event happen? If someone can help answer my question without spoiling anything in this book, it would be much appreciated. :) Thanks. Brika. :) bsteinbe-+AT+-chat.carleton.ca http://wabakimi.carleton.ca/~bsteinbe <---------------------------------------------------------------+ "A day can shift into a profound place by the reading of | a single perfect sentence at the perfect time." Some call me Mouse or Miraghe. But I am posting to help Brika. All of the details of the web ar covered in the Last of the Herald Mage series. To be specific it's in the last book "Magics Promise". Have fun reading. >Hi... Looking for a bit of help remembering something... As far as when Firesong, Elspeth et al met Van, Stef and Fandes... sad to say, I can't remember which book it was in, but I can tell you when, in the scheme of things it happened. It was when everyone was moving to the new vale, and Elspeth, Darkwind, and co. were being gated back to Valdemar. I wish I could remember which book, but since I don't have the Winds and Wars series in my possession, I can't reference it. Hope it jogs your memory a little and answers your questions. %^} Amber ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 20 Jan 1998 22:23:37 -0600 From: "Fam. A *lot* better. I also see your point that it's difficult to draw a person dressed in white on a white Companion. If I look at the books, a lot of times the whites are hidden by shields, colorful capes and a lot of other props. Well, at least the pictures aren't as bad as the 'blurbs' on the back. If we are talking about pet-peeves, that's mine I guess. Mariet--My big pet peeve about the cover art is that it's too busy. There are too many things in the border and too many decorations that seem just stuck in there--weaving patterns, etc. Chantal ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Jan 1998 9:41:18 -0500 From: KATE REYNOLDS To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Storm Breaking Message-ID: <980121094118.1007e-+AT+-4cty.org> Brika and listsibs -- The part where Van 'kidnaps' the gryphons, Firesong, et al is early in Winds of Fury. They were supposed to gate to k'Treva but Van diverted the gate and took everyone to Sorrows instead. He did to get to talk to them all at once and explain about the new Heartstone in Haven.
