Oh, and Door Into Fire predates Magic's Pawn by 11 years or so. Into the Woods- I love that musical! I have a book based on it somewhere around here.. . even has the songs worked into the text. "This is" she replied with a grin, as she tossed the contents of her bucket over the waiting figure. "Welcome, Elsa, and enjoy the discussion." She waved as she walked to the entrance, where yet another newbie stood waiting. The newbie was surrounded with people, and she couldn't manage to get close. With a sigh, Seashimmer attached her bucket to a long pole, and lifted it over the heads of the other welcomers. With a ::SPLOSH:: she drenched the newbie, as well as the surounding crowd. "We discuss anything here, Misty related and otherwise, although I suppose we're not supposed to. Just try to stick something having to do with Misty in each letter you write. Shouldn't be too hard." She vanished off again, pursuing the scent of another newbie. Oathblood- I finished, and I really liked the two new stories, although I felt "Oathblood" could have been made into a novel. It felt a little like Misty was too busy to write a whole novel, so she just cut it short. I think it would have been great if she'd woven in the quest of that student for revenge. Also, it was missing one of my favorite S&S stories ::wail::. "A Dragon in Distress" I belive it was called. Ok, so it doesn't take place in Velgarath (Velgarth? Velagarth? I should know how to spell this. .. ), but it has Tarma and Kethry in it. Oh well, I'll have to go back and read the original. ::pant:: Think that's everything, and it's now been over and hour. I really liked him. Too bad our wishes alone can't get Misty to write more of him. I really liked his Animal Mindspeech, myself. That always seemed more interesting than "mere" telepathy. As for An'desha, he ended up with himself. He had more to learn about his own abilities. Has it been said anywhere that shamans can't mate? SB SPOILER * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * I started looking through SB for the mage thing and found this--Iftel uses "octagonal, gold coins." p325 Okay, in Tashiketh's explanation of their trip to Iftel, there is no mention of the name of the mage. Shorthand from pp336-339. The Iftel people had all been members of the Third Army. The humans of the Third worshipped "Vykaendys," who had apparently decreed that those of his religion with magic should be priests. (Interesting to theorize on the development from that idea to the Karsite idea in LHM to back to the original again.) There were some mages with them, also gryphons, trondi'irn, pack of kyree, "surge of ratha" ("are to mountain cats what kyree are to wolves"), a "knot of tyrill" ("a larger race of hertasi, and there weren't that many of them....But oh, they breed with such enthusiasm!"), and a charge of dyheli. The Third was cut off and the only place the Adept with them (no name given) knew was his own home, ended up in Iftel. Right after they all got through the Gate the Cataclysm happened. Then, they met up with a leftover army of Ma'ar's. They were desperate, so the humans prayed to they're god, who is what we commonly know as Vkandis and he established the border. Umm, that seems like all there is. If I read much more I'm going to start the book and not get back to this letter. END SPOILER * * * * * * * * * ** * * * * Seashimmer, I was rather peeved about DinD not being in Oathblood myself. After all, the leshya'kal'enedral actually told T&K that what they did had an actual effect on the other world. And they got PAID! How often does that happen? Humph. I just picked up Wild Magic, by Tamora Pierce. Hers was the only name I could remeber of those we had been talking about before. I lost the notebook I'd been writing down the recommendations in. Anyhoo, I liked it. Going to get the others in the two series. Also, whoever was looking for those Baby Unicorn books--I found them on Amazon.com. They are by Jean Marzollo from 1987 and 1989. Apparently they are hard to find, though. Luck! Oh, anyone find a copy of Below the Root, And All Between, and Until the Celebration by Zilpha K. Snyder, let me know where. I'll want to buy it from that store, please. They're out of print and amazon only lets you order oop books if you have a credit card, which I don't. Yech. A friend of mine noticed this and was wondering about it, so I said that I would ask those who might be in the know. Here it is...In SB, Karal is confronted with one of the leshy'a Kal'enedral, who says on pg. 37 "I believe you've met a kinswoman of mine," the spirit continued. "She left her mark on you, which leads me to think that she regards you favorably. She's a hard one to please." The leshy'a Kal'enedral then goes on to identify the kinswoman as Kerowyn. Which lead my friend to this question. As far as she knows, the only swordsworn 'relative' of Kerowyn's is Tarma. But, if it is Tarma, why haven't we heard anything before this about her death? I'm hoping that someone out there can give her an answer. I have yet to read much about T&K, so I'm hardly qualified to give any sort of answer on the subject. Oh, and btw, I think we should start an Order of Eldan Avocation. He's a way cool character that doesn't get half enough stage time as he should. Now that he has had a chance to relax and think his humanity is once again firmly in control. Then he picks up the little kyree and says "Let me introduce you to someone. This is Waszzy. He's an orphaned kyree that Heartsong has given me to raise." He hands Waszzy carefully to ShadowBlade and can tell from the look in each of their eyes that they have become instant friends. Just a warning, since a friend of mine bought _Bedlam's Bard_ a few weeks ago, and didn't read the back. (Warning, even though I'm sure it has come through half a dozen times since the book came out. _Bedlam's Bard_ is a compilation of _Knights of Ghosts and Shadows_ and _Summoned to Tourney_. Buy this only if 1) You haven't read either book before, or 2) your copies of both books have been read so many times that you have lost the cover, and about half of the pages. Otherwise, it is a waste. Just wanted to tell you. I was pretty pissed when I found out it was only the compilation. I am not the only one around here who wants to see more of Beth, Eric and Kory, am I? *Warning delivered, the young woman with the flowing red hair steps back into the shadows, lost quickly in the darkness.* _____ ____ _____ / ____|/ __ \ / ____| Please help bring all 200 episodes of Sailor | (___ | | | | (___ Moon + the Movies to America by visiting: \___ \| | | |\___ \ ============================================ ____) | |__| |____) | http://looney.physics.sunysb.edu/sos/ |____ave\____ur___ailors!============================================ ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Mar 1998 15:48:49 -0700 From: Adrienne Metz To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Fluff Message-ID: <3.0.1.32.19980326154849.0072dc60-+AT+-pop.u.arizona.edu> At 12:24 AM 3/26/98 GMT, Ana wrote: >Adrienne: >>Have a great day with sheep that do your homework and study >>for your tests for you in school. >>> >Can they do my essays too? These are brilliant sheep that also somehow impart the information they gather into your head so that you can ace all those tests and remember exactly what was written in your essays!! I'm really strapped with school right now and am fully sympathetic for all those in the same position. And now that I only have a page of emails left to read for this list (I still have a couple hundred I haven't even started on for another list) I'm going to go to work and probably return later to tons more email that I can't read :( Anyway, wishing the brilliant sheep to everyone!
