Message-ID: After reading everyone's comments on proms etc I started to think about how much of American society is reflected in the Valdemar books. The one thing I did notice is that the collegium didn't sound much like my impression of American schools. This is where I hasten to add that I don't personally know of (though I think there are some) any British schools which have proms. It also means that there is less pressure to date as there isn't a day on which you just have to have a date. I assumed that Misty based Valdemar on America, any thoughts? Got loads of Andre Norton books and was fascinated to find that the ghost of skull hill story from the Lark and the Wren started life as a shared world (Ithkar) story edited by Andre Norton. I've just received the final one of the 6 cowriten new Witch world books and a new solar queen book of her's in the post. Its really difficult to find her books in the UK, internet or specialist American import shops only. Speaking of which, for those of you sharing computers and loosing internet links. If your using netscape then go into edit bookmarks and save them to your A:\ drive (floppy disk). When you want to use them you can open edit bookmarks, click on file and then on import and that means you don't end up loosing the lot. Also helps if you want to change computers etc. Bye Liz ---------------------- Elizabeth Hoffman E.G.Hoffman-+AT+-soton.ac.uk ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 01 Apr 1998 10:43:19 -0800 From: ceyllynn and john mc arthur To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: lackey lists Message-ID: <3.0.5.32.19980401104319.0079baa0-+AT+-mail.insidenet.com> i am gettingreally upset here, i have tried 4 times to get off the list. i feel like i am being forced to stay on. please pleazse take me off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ceyllynn mc arthur ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 01 Apr 1998 11:06:51 -0800 From: Niki Nibbe To: Mercedes Lackey Discussion Subject: Short: re Order (pure fluff) Message-ID: <3522904A.C39F568C-+AT+-earthlink.net> Sorry, this is short, and fluff, concerning the Order...anyone not interested should just delete me now. :-) I think we should take all further discussions off-list, for the sake of those who aren't interested. Um, as far as who the "leaders" are (read: those who really want to take up even more tasks and responsibility...not me!), I think those who stepped forward to offer to spearhead this thing ought to converse privately, iron out the kinks, then let the list knkow who's who. Raven, Morningstar (and whoever else is enthusiastic and willing to take on some work), how about it? Confer amongst yourselves, then let us know how things stand. In the meantime, everyone who's intersted can contact either Morningstar or Raven, and we can call a moratorium on this whole discussion on-list. All those in favor, say " " *g* Personally, I'll be sending my private email to one of the dedicated advocates of our noble new Order. And for the sake of the rest of the listsibs, and in accordance with Emily's suggestion, I will keep the rest of my thoughts on this Order off-list. Decaffeinated sheep to you all... It needs that you have a telnet client to use it, and can be thought of like a web chat, but much quicker and more flexible. If you're interested in going there, it's at: telnet://talker.com:2345/ If you've never used a talker before, someone will help you and show you the commands, and you can have a character there which is password protected. You can buy and sell objects but there isn't any gameplay really - it's designed so you can talk to other Misty fans about anything Misty or anything not... If you're interested, I'll see you there... :) Dexter Valdemar telnet://talker.com:2345/ ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 1 Apr 1998 19:23:35 +0000 From: "Chrys" To: mercedes-lackey-+AT+-herald.co.uk Subject: Re: newbie questions-lissa Message-ID: <19980402002513.18889.qmail-+AT+-dns01.ops.usa.net> > > From: Melissa Knop > > ok so i'm new here and would really like to know exactly whats going on. > > Whats fluff?, ob in front of the names. > > how did everyone get their name?
