I have a small question. Has anyone applied to Cennyyd to become the God of Unsung Heros? I was told when I wanted to start an order that you had to apply for godhood first and then you could found an order. Cennyyd used to confer demonhood on people that did things like this without applying (privately) first. I wouldn't want that to happen to any of you. I have been reading Oathblood and an idea for a parody hit me. So far, this is only an imaginary book but who knows. I may write the thing if more ideas come to me. Read Oatbread. The newest novel about Karma, the Shing-a-ling warrior, and Jefry, the Green Waves mage. The Green Waves school has run out of wheat flour and must use oat flour to bake their bread. After a week of this the school’s septic system is under enormous strain. Karma and Jefry must find a solution to this sticky problem or the school will be overrun by the mess and diseases. Discover Karma and Jefry’s unique solution to this dilemma in Oatbread. Let's see...my obmisty is also an OATHBLOOD SPOILER. S P O I L E R S P A C E In one of the stories one of Tarma's students breaks and trains a horse by patience and understanding the horse's body language. Can horses actually be trained this way or is it wishful thinking on Misty's part. I spoke to him about this and he told me his horse, Garion, whom he had since Garion was one month old, was trained in this manner. He spent much time with him and trained him with patience, tenderness, and communication. A LOT of patience. Garion never had to be "broken" and Rohan was able to ride him. In a recent TV documentary he showed the techniques and body language he used. he 'broke' a wild horse so it would take a saddle and rider in 30 minutes, just by looking at it and standing a certain way. It was on PBS. Sorry, I don't remember his name. S P O I L E R S P A C e pg 240, Oathblood, opening statement "Spring Plowing at Forest Reach" As for the Shin'a'in technique of taming(or rather, gentling) horses, it is based entirely on fact, and the techniques of a remarkable man named Monty Roberts, who without any form of coercion whatsoever, can take a green, untrained, skittish horse, and have it accepting bridle, saddle, and rider in thirty minutes. His technique is based soundly on understanding eqine body language and "speaking" to the horse with his own body language, and results in a cooperative partner. His book, _The_Man_Who_Listen_to_Horses, is one every horse lover and owner should read. end of textevd zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz April/Aerith/Relm/Jeanne Riverwolf, Disciple of Textevd, hopeful Knight of Unsung Heroes, Hall of Mist! ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 1544 **********************************
