Well, the following message therefore might be a wee old but I want to send it nevertheless. There are seven (7) Anita Blake books by now, the last came out only recently (or is it to come out soon?) Well, nevertheless, here is the list: Guilty Pleasures The Laughing Corpse Circus of the damned The Lunatic Cafe Bloody BOnes The Killing Dance and the new one whose name I forgot (ARRRGH!) I enjoyed them a great deal and even got my sister adicted to them. Didn't take me any effort to do so. Whereas for Misty's books I have been pestering her for years to read Arrows but she always pretends she doesn't have time. (How should she? She's got to re-read Anita Blake for the umptieth time!) As for favorites, I don't know. Edward is coooooooool, man, but Jean-Claude is so sexy. Just my type of guy. (Really, I always fall in love with dark-haired, bright-eyed (blue, grey, green) men) *big - huge - giant sigh* BTW what is Club Vampyre? >I've read three of them....the only ones my public library currently >has. *grin* I love them; almost enough to move to NC for.... BTW, does >anyone know how many there are all together? Let's see: They started in 1984, one has been published every year since, that makes 15 if I count correctly. Does anybody know how old Companions can get? I know they die (sp?) when their Herald dies but I think some of them go unbonded through their life, don't they? I've been thinking about this a lot. It is sort of nice and romantic to think about lifebonds in real life, and I even know quite a few people that I think could fall into the category of having them. I do believe in paths that link people together. I believe they are closer to what OSC describes in his "Homecoming" Series than the bonds that Misty talks about. But that is beside the point. I think Misty uses Lifebonds (which only seem to be in Heralds, anyway) because Heralds aren't notorious for staying with one person always. Having a lifebond _makes_ them stay together because they can't part. I think the only two Heralds we see that don't have a lifebond that are devoted to each other always are Kero and Eldan (yes, I used to think they had a lifebond, but I don't think so anymore). Just my thoughts. [or not in my experience anyway] Shawn and i knew we were lifebonded within a few days of speaking w/ eachother. it didnt take long at all. infact we knew we were lifebonded before i would hazard to even say i loved him. [and if that makes no sense, i am sorry. not much about me makes much sense anyways : )] i do not know many lifebonds but i believe its that way for most. and yes, some relationships could be rather intense lovebonds, but bear in mind, she said lifebonds were VERY rare anyway, so that would make sense. thats all the time i have now CHERRY CHOCOLATE SHEEP TO ALL! == God bless and keep you!! Just my thoughts. Exsqueeze me? I don't happen to think so. In fact, I can get the text evidence for it too! (If I have text ev, it means it's in LHM, since don't have my other books with me *curses the designer that only placed one bookshelf in this dorm room...*) Argh...I know it's in here...Anyone ever think that the quotes that you want actively HIDE from you when you want them? *mumble* By the Gods...I know it's here. Anyway...AH!!! Found it!!! *dance* Well, I can't quote the whole thing, since a lot of it is tied into something else. It's in MPawn, when Moondance is telling Vanyel about how he was brought to k'Treva by Savil. You'll notice several times after they arrive that Moondance and Starwind call eachother shay'kreth'ashke, which "In your tongue, that means 'lifebonded.'" I think that is where 'Lendel got 'ashke' from anyway. Also, Vanyel was not a Herald when he first became lifebonded, and the second time Stefen wasn't. So, it doesn't ONLY happen to heralds. Just the vast majority. If I remember right, there is a section in AoQ where Teren (I think I have that right...Keren's brother) makes mention of lifebonds and saying soemthing about how Heralds, since they cannot lie will know when they are in love, and that lifebonds are not unheard of in the unChosen, but that they are much rarer. Just my 3 cents...(This was a bit longer then 2 cents, I think.) Amberdrake in the Black Gryphon bumping into one of Urtho's mercs, who belonged too a company called Pedron's Wolves, who's insigna is a snarling wolfs head. then they is the empire who's insigna is a Snarling wolfs head and who are desended from a mercenary company from the mage wars (co-insendce i think not). they is a few others that i have'nt found out why yet. why did Skan mention in the Black Gryphon that Urtho and Vickteren (please, please forgive my spelling, i'm dyslexic) are the only mages that whistle and in the White Gryphon, Skan sounds unsure that Urtho is dead. My favorite Unsung Hero is Jadrek. He's mentioned in a couple of stories in Oathblood, but otherwise he disappears.Oh and (off Misty) what is the name of the new Anita Blake? My bookstore is good on Misty books, but never gets Laurell K. Hamilton's stuff in (or Terry Pratchett, or a million other good authors). Personally, I think the HERO system would work very well for any of Misty's worlds. It is similar to the GURPS system in that it is a universal system. It is most known as a superhero game system, but it is surprisingly flexible. ******* Now returning to deep lurking mode ********** ------------------------------ End of MERCEDES-LACKEY Digest 1567 **********************************
