Being the lazy person I am, and being besieged by summer prairi heat and unused to all the humidity that's been floating around of late, I haven't actually replied to any MLML e-mail recently, leaving me with a bit of a backlog - sorry all! *Falls down on her knees and grovels in complete and utter humbleness, holding out a flock of minty chocolate sheep as a br- ... gift to help all the kind people on the List forgive her for the Fluffy message* Long ONMisty to combat the Fluff: Here's a thought on the Grove Born/Mortal Born Companions - during Valdemar's reign when the first Companions had the first little Companions, would those Companions be concidered Grove Born as well? With all the new Heralds, there would probibly be more Heralds that are alive than dead and reincarnated, so would the Companions that were born in that era be Guardian Spirits or mortals that *MIGHT* have been Chosen if there were Companions to Choose them at that time? The Shannara books - didn't like them one bit. I found them slightly repedative and a rip off of the Lord of the Rings - esp. the Sword of Shannara. Just MHO, tho. The rest is all hellos - I'd put on the Newbie Fest address, but I seem to have lost it in the bowels of my computer. :) Someone - can you post it please? You were close! *grin* > In that time, more people are able to become Heralds than there is a supply of >Companions, so a few more GB's pop out into the Grove. Soon, there is a >healthy balance, and the supply of Earth (well, Velgarth)-born is >established enough to support the demand of Heralds. Okay, taking these two things together got me to thinking. They must spend some time, either in the Havens or in Limbo, because there's not always the same number of Companions, it varies. Because, I think it was Savil who said that there weren't very many trainees around recently (while Leareth was killing them off). But in Arrows or Winds someone mentions that a sudden influx of new foals means that trouble is brewing and there will be a lot of new trainees a few years in the future. So, I would say that some heralds take a break before coming back and/or wait around till a big influx is needed. It also makes me wonder if they get to choose _when_ they get to come back. It also makes me wonder if those who decided to go to Havens, get a second recruitment opportunity if things really go to heck and they need more Heralds or Companions? ********************************* Pulling out a really old thread to make a comment: I was very disappoined in the Van and Jonne story considering that the guy who wrote it lives with Misty and Larry. He should have got her opinion on the story. It was too short, too pat and sounded more like someone's quick daydream rather than a developed short story. My opinion. ********************************** Rhiannon Shadowsong: >I'm pretty darn sure its a life bond...it's definitely a permanent >relationship because Darkwind gave her a feather from Vree. Also, >Heralds don't generally settle for permanant realationships with >non-Heralds, although someone like DarkWind is close in mentality. If >its not a life-bond, then its close enough that it doesn't matter. Sorry to disappoint you, but it is not a life bond, this is from the mouth of Misty herself. I think it was Korindell that asker of strange questions who got this answer from her at Dragon Con. (Although it may have come from someone who wrote her and recieved a reply. They ought to have been lifebonded, but Misty said she did not want to make Lifebonds that common. I personally think that there is something that could be called a "lovebond" which is nearly as binding, but not as dibilittating. ***************************************** Well, that's it for now, my computer keeps having fits. Perhaps it is Baron Valdemar up there, along with the eldest of the Herald-spirits, who in conjunction decide who would be best to send down on a 'mission'. This is of course saying that the spirits are working in concert with deities, deities who know of the future. Another thought. What if the world needs a ~normal~ civilian? Would they get reincarnated as well? Or do normal people who are sent on missions just reincarnated Heralds as well (Tylendel into Stef)? (not succeeding very well... ) ObMisty (I think there may be some spoilers for Mage War Series) I just read The Silver Gryphon again, and I was wondering why the starving Wyrsa didnt drag the bodies off to eat? I find a lot of fantasy to be a rip off of Tolkien...its hard to break new ground. Thank the powers-that-be that there are people like Misty who do. Um, ok, lesse if I can articulate whatever I'm trying to explain... The Wyrsa were made as weapons, so I think that they kill a lot more than they need to eat. It's what they were made for, so they are probably like those sick people that I berate for hunting for pleasure. Just because they killed something doesn't mean that they are hungry and want to eat it. Alright, I'm babbling...I'll shut up now. Like if one half of a lifebonded pair dies and is reborn or an unacknowledged lifebond, or the death of a lifebonded person whose partner then goes and lifebonds to another, or even a person obsessing over a lifebond to the point of madness... Anyway, how many of you actually would want to be in a lifebond? I personally would. Even with all the problems that can come with it, I think that it would be worth it in the end to have someone who loves you unconditionally who you feel the same way about. Opinions? ObMisty: Who here thinks that Kero and Eldan were lifebonded? I personally think they were because of those dreams that Kero kept having, but I have also had some people tell me that they were not lifebonded, and that it was Kero's and Eldan's gifts that enabled them to connect in their dreams.
