Hi,

we are in the process of updating the Newbie Fest, sooooo......

1. any listmember organisations that want to be listed can send me a
paragraph with email contact info or relevant web page so we can add it.

2. any volunteers for helping newbies to braid with different email
softs/ISPs would be MORE than welcome

3. anyone who wants to contribute something in particular that they think
should be on the NFest but isn't is also welcome to do so.

   Yeah, that's what I thought (I am, after all, a huge fan of Nightcrawler
and ZBlink, two comic book characters who can teleport), but I guess you
have to be really powerful to do that. I mean, a person (and if this is a
Herald, the possible taravelling Companion) is a lot biggert than, say, a
sqirril, not to mention that the experiance of being Fetched or Fetching
yourself might be so strange that you forget where you're going...which
could be disasterous, messy, or both.

isn't a word I'd use to describe Vanyel.  And Firesong?  Well, whistling
isn't
exactly...dignified.  Being a bit of a snob, I don't see him as whistling,

   Your right, of course. I can't se Van or Firesong whistling, but Dirk
definately. He was just that kind of person. And of course, Skif (the one in
Arrows, before he got all grown up in Winds and I stopped liking him {yes,
I'm fickle}) Skif would whistle "innocently".

   More like judges, I think. Or a jury.

   Just a thought. I liked Skif when he was younger. I can think of all
sorts of things he might have done. I wish Misty had a few more characters
like him.

   gee, I read Sacrd Ground long before I read any Tregarde, so my memories
were a bit fuzzy. I don't think I really saw Di as whining. More like a
little overwhelmed by her responsibilities and sort of dwelling on them in
awe, as in:"Wow. I have magical powers and my purpose is to help people.
Isn't this neat."

This is gettilg to be a habit, sibs, but I'm desperate. I am on my
computer maybe once in every three weeks now, so this may take a
while, even though I'm not responding to any threads. To all the
newbies out there, I am Dreamfire(AKA Melanie). For the help I so
desperatly need, can someone please tell me how to unsubscribe for the
summer? Please don't mail me at this address, but at

		Ok, I don't remember exactly what I said I was going to read over
the summer, but here s. I bought The Free Bards and read all three,
plus I got CoC out of the library, and I loved them all. I read
Firebird, and got the original story out of the library. Misty doesn't
follow it *too* closely, but that's good because I didn't like the
real fairy tale much anyway. I actually finished Melanie Rawn's Dragon
Prince trilogy, and am in the middle of the Dragon Star trilogy now.
They're really good books. I started Piers Anthony's Isle of Woman,
which is also good. I hated Guy Gavriel Kay's Fionavar(sp?) Tapestry
trilogy, but some of you might like it. 
			Next thing. Does anyone know if there are more Alanda books after
EaN? I really like them and so does my mother which surprised me *and*
her, because she hates Misty("I know, I know," I'm thinking, as gasps
of horror run through the assembled crowd). Any way, I really need to
know how to get off the list because the 300 messages I have now have
almost crashed my computer.

Yoo Hoo---------I do/am----------Syracuse here--------The RenFest started July
3/4, runs for 6 weekends only--so, the weekend coming up is the third one--I
attended opening weekend, and it was as wonderful as always.  If I can be of
more assistance, e-mail me privately.  (I thought of e-mailing you privately,
but wondered if anyone else would be interested, so decided to go the 'list'
route.)

There's A Cast of Corbies, by Misty and Josepha Sherman, and there's
another one that's relatively recent, but I don't have it yet, and don't
even remember what it's called...it's about Talaysin's aunt (is that the
right relation, it's been a while...) the woman that's a member of the
Justiciars...the mage.
