'It's a good thing I put Elsa's neclace in my pouch.  Thanks, by the 
way.'  As the mist slowly engulfs the girl, she hurriedly threw some 
sparks at two figures miles away and whispered, 'Hello, Kalistia and 
Salva.  Welcome to...' and she was gone.


Excuse the fluff.  About Tylendel (sorry about the delay), someone wrote 
(sorry about my faulty memory):

I thoroughly agree.  Though I think that Tylendel must have really loved 
Van, the love was kind of divided, because 'Lendel cares so much for his 
twin.  I think it's unfair because Van gives all his love to 'Lendel and 
'Lendel only returns half.

   I disagree here. Vanyel and Tylendel were as in love as they could be
with each other. What you're comparing here are two separate types of love:
relationship and family. It's like trying to say that someone who loves
their mother doesn't love their partner as much as they could if they
didn't love their mother.
   IIRC, Tylendel had a mind-bond with his twin, because they had both
shared the same womb (an example of non-lifebond mindsharing*). Rather than
let the bond dwindle as time passed, they decided to enrich the bond as
much as they could. IMO, this is sibling love, clear and simple.
   When Van came into the picture, I'm sure that Tylendel 'told' his
borther all about him, and everything that was going on in his head about
Van. 'Lendel's brother wasn't competing with Van, he was being a brother.
   The problem occurred when he died, because now Tylendel had absolutely
nothing in the spot where he had ~all his life~ had his brother to count
on. Firstly, because it spanned all of his life, imagine the amount of
security that each relied on it for. Secondly, imagine the amount of power
and stability it had. Third, imagine that snapping, gone, poof. Not only is
it gone poof, but you watched it being torn away from you with your very
own eyes. I'm sure that this is exactly what Tylendel went through.
   IMO, Tylendel was 'lucky' to have Van around, because between them,
another bond was being created. Rather than try to kill himself, as might
have happened, Tylendel chose to live, albeit for revenge purposes only.
Also, this was only short lived, for after seeing what he had done, IIRC,
he did then kill himself, and create Vanyel the Herald Mage.
   It wasn't because Tylendel loved his twin more than Van that things went
haywire, just because he went cookoo real fast.

Not quite in the sense you're thinking. By Tayledras custom, one gives a 
feather to someone when they desire a liaison with that person; if they 
want something permanent, they give a feather from their bondbird. It 
doesn't meake it a lifebonding, which is more than a marriage and can't 
apparently be caused by anything a person consciously does.

Heyla!
   Sorry this is so short, guys, but I had to confess something. I just went
to the library and got out Magic's Pawn, not just because I love Van, but
mainly for the dreams of snow, ice, cold...it's sweltering hot here! I can't
imagine what it must be like it places south of New Brunswick (which is
north of Maine, for those unfamiliar with my tiny province). I guess I'm
just one of those people who produce enough heat to not really need summer.
I took a cold shower,nstepped out, and imediately began to sweat!! My cat
sticks to me!!! Argh!!!
   Oh, to have the power to make it rain....
   Oops, I'm rambling. Must be the heat. Hey, would Iceblade qualify as an
Unsung Hero? I love that guy...

A quick note, since it is late and i want my bed. . .

Four and Twenty Blackbirds is, as far as i know, the latest FreeBard 
book, about what's his name's cousin in the church. . . *ok ok, i should 
remember his name, but it's been ages since i've been near a Misty book. 
. . i know, i know. . . *L*

Last i saw it was in HB. . . which this poor pixie cannot afford. . .

Hmmmm. . . been watching the whole 'Lendel/Van thing. . . well, i think 
something to keep in mind is the ages of the two. . . neither was very 
old and Herald or not, most people in their teens are just 3 steps away 
from going glitch. . . *shrug*  well, other than me, of course. . . i 
STILL am. . .

As for weather. . . sadly, it about killed the poor SnowNymph today, at 
least 80 most of the time. . . and i thought i like WA weather, makes me 
yearn for home. . . Anyway, i have a bed to seek and a storm to dream 
of. . .

Hi everybody,

didn't 'Lendel have some sort of contact with Van in Magic's Price?
there was some mention of unfinished buseness(don't know if i spelled 
that one right)and 'lendel owing Van something.
I don't know exactly how to interpretate that, but it seems to me, 
'Lendel failed Van in some way, probably in being (understandable though)
selfish, resulting in Van becoming who he is.

ok- elvenbanes etc.- I reallyu enjoyed both books but the ending was too
rush- it all happened in about 20 pages0 like the show down with valyn
and his father... and basically no follow up on that... and then the

in terms of bardic voices- I really enjoyed the ones I've read so far-

one thing that really disappointed me though was that I wish there was a
whjole book about kestrel and what happened from the start with the
murder in the palace and all... anyone else really wanted to read about
this?

Ok, real quick here. I'm sure a Councillor has already spoken with Jerrie
on this, but I figured that if she didn't realize it wasn't an appropriate
post, there are probably others out there as well. I don't mean to step on
any toes; I just want to point out that this kind of post shouldn't go to
the list. Friends, by private email, sure, but the mailing list, no.

As long as I'm on my soapbox, let me dispense with one more thing. I've
noticed a profusion of people using Velgarth-related titles (Tayledras,
Herald-Mage, etc). Technically, I don't think this is allowed unless
you've created the persona in accordance with the rules maintained by the
Queen's Own. (I think I still have a copy of the reqs somewhere, if
anybody wants, but it's a couple years old.) Now, nobody here a)can or
b)will police whether or not your persona is approved, but it's
technically a no-no. (So, if you've just decided to add "Herald-Mage to
your name without jumping through all the appropriate hoops, don't tell
us, or Auntie Mel could potentially get in trouble.) Again, not to step on
any toes, or point any fingers, but I thought people should know.

T. shena Tale'sedrin asked whether or not the mythos origin thingy about
Vkandis and Kal'enel had been discussed before -- yeah, it has, but that
doesn't preclude any further dissection of it, especially if you've got
something interesting to say.

And, finally, my ob-non-Misty: Summon the Keeper by Tanya Huff. Read it,
loved it, couldn't put it down, am considering not giving it back. Well,
maybe it's not all that, but it's good, and funny. If you liked any of the
Di Tregarde series, try this one. (And tell me if you were also reminded
of the "transdimensional portal to Hell in your humidifier" conversation.)

Ok, this might be a stretch, but, well...it makes sense to me.  Alright,
could this be relatively the same thing as with Keren in the Arrows
trilogy?  I mean, 'Lendel had the bond with his brother, the bond with
Van, and of course, the bond with his companion Gala...Remember in
Arrows when Keren's lifebonded Ylsa died, how she went into that shock-y
state, and Talia tried to retrieve her, and couldn't...until she found a
"replacement" bond--Sherrill.  (Keep reading, I do have a point here...)
 Now, in Arrows of the Queen, it says something to the effect of
"Keren's mental stability rested on her three bonds--that with her twin,
Teren, that with her companion, and that with Ylsa...now if 'Lendel was
similar mentally, he should have, by all rights, freaked even more than
he did when Staven (his twin) died...and Gala's repudiation of him, I'm
sure, just made it worse...  Well, if anybody but me understood that (it
sounded so much more logical when I was thinking it...), what do you
think?

A Cast of Corbies and Four and Twenty Blackbirds are two totally
separate books...A Cast of Corbies is about Raven (you'll remember him
from The Lark and the Wren--the pirate-y looking guy with the eyepatch).
 Four and Twenty Blackbirds is about Ardis, a Justiciar-mage, and
Talaysen's aunt...I haven't read Four and Twenty Blackbirds yet, but A
Cast of Corbies, I thought, was very good...
