  The only thing I remember about Elspeth in By the Sword is when Kero meets
Selenay,
Elspeth is to be the liason betweeen Kero and the council.  Elspeth states
that she had to act as judge (or something similar I don't have my book
handy) in Haven because she was not allowed to ride circuit.  Then Need
speaks for her.    Kero's liasons in battle was a male Herald that she scared
off, and then Elden. Elspeth stated (paraphrase) that she had to balance the
duties of Herald, which means sometimes danger, with the fact that as the
only heir of Selenay, she is not allowed to put herself in danger.

I have always understood that using node energy bleaches out the magic user -
regardless of their species.  Examples include Companions, Brytha(dyheli), and the
Kyree Shaman in MPrice.
A hearstone can accelerate the process, but plain old nodes will do it too.

Grove born don't have previous experience.  Van tells Elspeth this in Winds.
I think that this means that they are not reincarnated heralds but some higher
being.

In BTS, Elspeth has just received her Whites and is doing her internship - so she
is an adult.  But, all the Herald's who are stationed at Haven still have arms
instructors in Alberich and Kero.  In AFlight, Talia was lessoning with Alberich
again.  Just because you have graduated doesn't mean you stop learning!

         From what I have read, and I have read all of the books out
at the moment, Tantras was reincarnated,a nd his name didn't change at
all.  He was Kris's Companion.  Then Jaysen was reincarnated as Jason,
who I believe is Selenay's husband's Companion.  And, well, I can't
think of any of the others, but I know there was more.  I don't have
the books with me right now.

      On the music side, I don't think that anyone has mentioned
Clannad.  It's a Celtic rock group that sings both in English and in
Irish Gaelic.  Actually, Enya is related to the group members in
Clannad.  It's her brother, sister, and two uncles.  

      Well, that's all I have for now, so I'll go.

I do not know if you will read this, since you have possibly 
unsubscribed by the time I write this.  My only question sir, is that, 
while I can understand that you will express your own opinions, and I 
fully expect that (as does everyone else on the list), why must you be 
so nasty and rude about it?  Feel free to disagree, the rule on the list 
is that "there is no one true way".  BUT, the rule on the list is that 
"there is no one true way".  I was of the opinion that this meant

Dear List;
Zhai'helleva!
I realize this topic is somewhat over, but I've discovered lately that I
identify with our favorite Bard, Stefen.  You see, my mom's been feeling
really sick lately (she has to go in for her third open-heart surgery in
October).  She also loves to embroider and it's not very taxing.  So she
sits on the couch embroidering and makes me play my flute because she
says it makes her pain go away.  And before you ask, I've never let her
read LHM or told her about it.  Eerie, huh?

Well, I haven't read BTS so I can't comment on that, but it says at the very
beginning in Winds of Change something about having survived 1000 ceremonies
in her 26 years....I assume that means she's 26 (my, my, how they grow up).
Anyway, if she's 26 in Winds of Change, how can she be only 18 or so in Winds
of Fate? Unless of course she ages very quickly. Hope I got that right. Sorry.
Just wondered......

 Well,  I do not think she could have been 14 in BTS either, as it describes her
as being in Whites.  The avg age a Herald-trainee graduates is 18.   She was 13,
when chosen in AFlight, and there are several years between AFlight and BTS.  I
know there is a space of several years between BTS and WoFate, as Selenay and
Daren have just married at the end of BTS, and at the begenning, of WoFate they
have twins that are, I believe, between the ages of 3 and 5.

I'm not sure, but I would guess that a bunch of people just started
school so they have bunches of stuff to do.

Also, people've been talking about Elspeth.  I remember in the Arrows
trilogy, Alberich started training her with weapons pretty early, and
he said she'd be good 'cause she didn't have anything to unlearn.  In
Arrow's Fall, I think, she was already better than Talia, but in the
Winds trilogy everyone said she was only an indifferent fighter.  What
happened?
