:books.  I love her stuff.  A few years back Firebird had prints of all of
:Jody's cover art for sale, and I curse myself for not ordering the LHM
:prints! WAAAHHH!!

check on the inside cover of any DAW published Misty Book, and you'd find the

Amberdrake had Healing gifts and Empathy, in Valdemar didn't Shavri have
both? I don't see why 'Drake was shunned by both groups when he could do
his job better, and Heal WHILE being a Kestra'chern... Would 'Drake have
been a Herald do you think if he had lived in Valdemar?

Yes it /is/ a Trodi'urn <sp?> that looks after gryphons...

Talking of gryphons /why/ was Skan bleached white as they escaped? I
/really/ don't get that... I /know/ he was dyed black, but Gate magic
doesn't bleach... I mean Vanyel uses Gates all the time... he gets a
/few/ white hairs, not bleached! Unless it was the node the Gate was
attached to (are Permanent Gates attatched to Nndes? How did Urtho power
them?) OK node or magic powering the Gate was unstable, and Vikteren
couldn't /totally/ steady it? If that is the case, I would have thought
Skan would be a /lot/ more affected by the amount of Mage power needed
to bleach him! Did he end up with blue eyes btw?

I imagine Levin bolts as lightning (to whoever mentioned that ages ago!)

I know it's in Horse Fantastic, a collection of short stories by
different authours, but I've never read the book... ISBN anyone? I've
lost it... and I want to pester my library about getting it! *g*

OK Fluff time! (That /is/ enough OBMisty isn't it? *sheepish smile*)

Rainbow stands on a small wooden box which mysteriously appears and
grabs the Friendship Ring from the table. "OK everyone! Listen up!" she
smiles shyly as everyone turns to look. "I have permission to restart
the Friendship Ring. This is made of 3 bands of gold, silver and
electrum in a single ring." She grins. 
"/But/ there are rules. Firstly: Friendship Ring fluff MUST have an
OBMisty preferbly longer than the fluff included. Second: The Friendship
Ring /mustn't/ overtake misty conversation, fluff should be kept to a
minimum!." Rainbow sees nods in the crowd from oldbies who remember when
the Ring started. 
She laughs softly. "That's what happened last time. The idea of the Ring
is simple. Each week it is given to someone, maybe a lurker, a newbie,
anyone, to make them feel welcome or cheer them up, but it /must/ be
passed on... The giver will then find that 3 seperate rings, one of
gold, one of silver, and one of electrum, will appear on their fingers."
She smiles self-consiously. "Well, I suppose I get to give it first!"
She looks around the crowd, looking for people she /thinks/ haven't had
the ring... "Rhiannon?" She calls out as she sees the lady among the
crowd. She slips the Ring onto the talkative lady's finger, "Just
remember pass it on next week!" Rainbow gasps in delight as 3 rings
appear on her fingers. "And keep the fluff down!" She grins, realising
/she'd/ better stop the fluff!

Well... that's that started!

Oh yes... If Leareth could create a creature, the thing that killed
Savil, wouldn't he be called a sourcerer-adept? I mean An'desha calls
himself a sourcerer-adept because he knows how to create creatures...
but isn't Kethry a sourceress, and she doesn't know how to create
creatures? 

Now if my library would /just/ get Owlflight... *sigh*...

    I do. It's a dark auburn with coppery highlights most of the time, but
in autumn (the season where I'll go outside willingly more than any other)
it lightens a bit. Under flourescent lighting it looks orange, sometimes
with green highlights. And it's natural, I swear!

   Cyndi Lauper was expelled from Catholic school because she got another
girl to scratch her back. She met that girl years later... she was the wife

   Meanwhile, two girls in my gr. 6 class declared they were married, and
then got divorced in gr.7. Oi.
   Yep, we're an odd bunch. Our Spirit Director last year (Danny *snif* may
he have a wonderful life, through college and after) ended his term in
office with a real bang. See, we have an assembly where the new Student
Government takes over from the old. In all of them (whether violent take
over or peaceful transition with 60's music) the new took over from the old
pretty quickly. Not Danny. Dressed in a cheerleading uniform (nicely showing
off his arms and legs *hoots*) Danny had a catfight with his 'heir', the
Joker-spandex-suit-wearing Colin. He won, then did his victory dance to
Spice Up Your Life, with plenty of his famous high kicks. But Colin defeated
him by telling him he'd never be a Spice Girl.

   Yes, we're definately strange.

   It really makes me wonder what it would be like in a Collegium. I mean,
all the students live there, and many of them have powers they could maybe
use for harmless pranks between friends. They wear those uniforms (grey ick
only when I'm in the mood, blue is much more often seen on me, thatnks so
much) so they'd have to individualize themselves some other way, right?
Hmmm...

   Yes, but Krebain could have been working for Leareth. He wasn't in
Valdemar, but he could have been evidence of an attempt on Leareth's part to
gather forces on Valdemar's flank, so that when the time came he could hit
them with a double whammy attack from two fronts. Um. I'll be quiet.

   Gwena's generally a bit rude to her.

   I just read Majyk my Hook or Crook and Majyk by Design (the first book in
this trilogy is Majyk by Accident) and I thought they were really funny. The
two warrior women aunts in MbD remind me a little of Keth and Tarma. I
really recommend tham if you want some light reading. They're by Esther
Friesner.

   Okay, I couldn't resist. Here's some fluff. This is the end of the
non-official-fluff letter anyway.

   Elsa perches on top of a tall piller and watches the Hall with eagle
eyes.
Spotting a newbie and overhearing "I just started today" she tosses down a
rope with a bundle and note attatched to the end. It lands right in front of

The note reads "Heyla and well met! Here's a gift from one listsib to
another. I'd come greet you myself, but I'm wearing my new Lusty Shoes(tm)
and don't want t step in a puddle from all these splooshings. ~Elsa~"
   Elsa waves.
   Inside the bundle is a cute plush purple, pink and gold dragon, a box of
maple candy and a fluffy towel inexplicably covered with elk and penguins.

If I remember this correctly, Alberich was a foreseer.  Several times
when he was in command of his troops (wasn't he the youngest to be in
command?) he forsaw the future and was able to save his troops.  I
think the book one from Arrows, stated, "He knew the outcome one too
many times" or something to that effect.  The troops became
suspecious, and being agains't magic of any kind, they were going to
burn him at the stake.  He ran from them into a barn that they set on
fire and his Companion came running into the burning building and
rescued him.



Someone else wrote "Imagine this: I *am* in middle school! just think
how much respect I get! adults ignore me, and most kids think i'm
wierd 'cause I read and stuff. Arrgh! life is *not* fair."

Nope, life is not fair, much like the characters in Misty books we
have to endure....But it will be worth it in the long run.  All those
people who don't read will miss out and have to attend Stress
Management classes because they can't lose their anger in a good book!
 (or learn about good ideas, tolerance and social niceties)

Did Misty ever write down the story of how Kethry got Need? If so,
where?


How Kethry got Need, Hmmmmm, seems I remember something about how she
got it....I just can't remember where.  It may have been in Sword and
Sorceress book number 5, or she may have said how she got in By the
Sword, when she gave Need to Kerowynn.  I will double check.

I just have an idea to bring out for all to think about. Some believe
that no one person is born purely evil. As heroes have flaws, so
villains must have good points. My thought is this. What could have
happened to shape Ma'ar and his various incarnations into such an evil
being? Was it something that happened in his childhood to shape him
forever? If we were to psychoanalyze the fellow, (God help us), then
what might we find? Just an idea.

If the time stretch between MPromise and MPrice is 9 years that would
make Van 37, right?  I thought I read somewhere in MPromise that he was
28.  

Fluff:
Faye and her fluffy raccoon approach the crowd around Rhiannon looking
at the friendship ring...Neat Ring!!  The raccoon looks around for his
new ferrett friends.  He doesn't see them.  Instead, he goes over to one
of the sheep in the hall and climbs up on the sheeps back for a sheep
ride and they cavort around the hall in happy abandonment.

I always thought that he was 35 or 36, so that sounds about right.

Actually, Van doesn't use Gates much, unless its totally urgent. His 
channels were blasted open by Gate energy, so it makes him very 
sensitive to that. I think if he made a Gate and went through it, he'd 
be totally sick for a day or so. I remember in MPawn, he was  struck 
down just by one opening gate alone. Savil probably uses much more Gates 
than Van, and HER hair was all white.... if you choose to ignore their 
age difference.

You sure?

I've read _Oathblood_ several times...and unless I skipped a story
somewhere, there is no story about how Keth got Need. The very FIRST story
in the collection is how Tarma and Kethry met...

It is briefly mentioned in _Oathbound_...it was when Keth was getting ready
to leave her school and head out on her Journeyman period...the guard of
the school pulled Keth into her office and gave her the sword saying that
Need had spoken for her.  Keth tells the story in there somewhere in the
first chapter or so.

Subject: To Any Helpful Councilors: How to Get Off the List?

I hate to ask this, but is there a Councilor out there who can help me
get off the list?  I have tried repeatedly to unsubscribe, and I keep
getting messages that say that it is an invalid request, and that any
subsequent requests that I make will be ignored.  Help?

I would like to read the archives before I jump in and annoy everyone,
but the "help" file from ListProc is anything but helpful (I'm new on the
'net too).&nbsp; Can anyone show me the correct request for the complete
archives (I've got the index but keep getting syntax error messages when
I request the files).&nbsp; I can hardly wait to dive in, so your help
is greatly appreciated!
