In response to the queries about age and location and whatnot, I'm 17,
and a resident of the "great" state of Arkansas (Land of Boredom, Rice,
And BrUncles *shudder*) More specifically, a little podunk town about 18
miles south of Jonesboro (bet most of you will remember where that
is...)

obMisty: I just finished Owlsight yesterday, and uhh...I liked it! *L*
Anyone else read it yet?

And on a sides note, if anyone has been wondering where Cid (the Jenova
critter) and Fluffy (the Gold Chocobo) have been, well I got a postcard
from Vegas yesterday...*LOL*

Hi. Shaman in training here. Celtic Shamanism, in particular. I used to sign
with blessed be on another list I was on, but everyone kept asking if I was a

I'm almost certain that it's written somewhere, even though I've never 
read it and don't know which book it's in.  It seems like I read/heard 
that she had written it in a book of short stories, so don't give up 
hope of finding it.  :)

BTW, did anyone ever notice that there's a Lake Evendim in Middle Earth 
(Tolkien) as well as in Velgarth?  I just saw this while re-reading the 
Lord of the Rings and I thought the name looked familiar.  <G>

Does anyone else adore the cover of Oathblood?  I just bought it and was 
so surprised by how great it was!  (except for that absolutely dreadful 
creation Keth's garbed in  ::shudders::)  Someone finally captured the 
way Tarma looked; even the expression is perfect.

I thought it was kind of interesting how the lyrics to the song "Threes" 
changed between one book and the next.  A lot of the lines are different 
in the end of AFall when compared to those in Obreaker (or was it 
Obound?)  Do you think it was because of the translation from the 
Rethwellan language to Valdemaran?

On the pagan thread, I'm what is often considered Pagan, though I don't 
belong to any well known pagan religion such as Wicca.  Oh, someone 
mentioned that all of her pagan friends were in KY.  Where??  I wish 
*I'd* meet some of them . . . At the mention of the word "pagan" in my 
town everyone starts gathering kindling to burn someone at the 
stake!!!!!<---count them ;)  I mentioned once that I belived in more 
than one God(dess), and ever since, I can't even walk into school 
without being ridiculed vilely.  And that was one and a half YEARS ago!!  
::Her voice rises several octives, then she seems to regain control over 
herself::
Sorry, I'll try to stop ranting.  Surely there's still some small 
remnant of hope for this post...then again, maybe not.

Aaarrrrg.  I *know* there was something else I wanted to say, but I 
can't for the life of me think of it.  Oh well, maybe later.

I was also wondering if anyone who loves to roleplay can join the Order 
of Light Warriors, or if they have to play Final Fantasy games?  I read 
the page about it, but I still wasn't sure; I've never played FF but if 
I could I'd love to join the OoLW anyway.
And how do I get a bondbird?
BTW, on the height/hair color thread, I'm 5'4" with reddish blonde hair.  
It only looks red in some lights, though.  It's sort of honey-colored.

and a Native American gown. Or a Herald-type tunic for that matter ( I
know a certain someone who might enjoy such a thing) *shrug* Just
wondering. I dont think the SCA accepts rat personas. <g>

Well, it seems to me my ripe old age of 41 takes the top so far.  Anyone
older, feel free to step in and let us know!  And my hair is auburn with
touches of red in it and lots of gray!!  And if you younguns think you
get funny looks reading books with pink horses on them....imagine the
looks of surprise I get!  Some of my friends just tell me I'm a crazy
lady and I agree with them.  Oh, I'm from Welsh descent also...however,
I don't consider myself pagan.

In the story Ironrose written by Laryy Dixon and Mel. White...a hertasi
named Tullen seemed to be bolder than usual.  His wife Coulsie was the
shyer towards Hawkbrothers.  Question though, I never could pick up
enough info from the story to get a time frame.  Ideas anyone?

My goodness, I have way too much time on my hands if I can remember all that. I am curious now, what is the other original Shin'a'in clan....

On the religion thread, I am a Catholic, and it seems like Christians are in the minority on this list. At least the most vocal about religion are the pagans and Wiccans...

Age/Location: I am 17 years old, and a senior in high school. I live in Jacksonville, FL (GO JAGS!!), but in another year, I will be donning my Garnet and Gold and heading off to FSU.

Stories we would like to see: The Founding, events predating the magewars, Sunsinger and Shadowdancer, Lavan Firestorm, Talia's becoming a Sunpriest, what happened to all the main characters after SB, and the time right after Van's death when the "regular" Heralds were coming into their own.

Does anyone else on the List like Sailor Moon?

I just had a thought. It mentions Skan liking to read in BG, but how on earth did he read with those talons? It seems to me that he would have torn a book to shreds!

Do you have an obsession if your cats are named Misty and Larry? How about Altra and Hansa?

As to the pagan question....I don't know how to answer it anymore.   When
I was in high school, I would have definitely said, "Yes, I am a pagan." 
But now I am definitely in a christian marriage, my husband is christian,
and if he were to know of how I sometimes feel, I think he would be
appalled.  I do not agree with half of christian doctrine, and I do not
know for sure what supernatural being or being is out there.  I only 
know that something exists, something powerfull, and something that
cannot be labeled and categorized.  Since I will not know until the
moment of my death, I prefer to say that I follow the goodness that
exists.  That I strive to live in the light, so to speak.....

O.k.....sorry, enough rambling......

The only ObMisty I can think of......I can't wait to get my hands on a
copy of Owlsight!!!!

Heyla!

Seeing that insomnia has raised it ugly head I thought I would answer
some questions that I keep forgeting.

On the age, height and where we live thread:
Well I am 23 and I live in Hutchinson, KS. And despite Misty's opinion
on Kansas as seen in Jinx High there are not any stockyards near the
town or the motels!  I'm 5'4" which is usually just tall enough to find
clothes that fit without alterations. Really I'm very lucky all my
female relatives are 5' and under. I've been going to Wichita State
University for the past five years and am now working on my masters in
history. 

On hair color:
My hair is naturally brown with lots of red highlights, which knowing my
genetic make up, will soon turn silver. I've been planning to die it
auburn or ginger, but I never seem to get the time.

I may be wrong, but I think that Firebird Arts and Music sells what they
call Herald Tunics in their catalog and on their webpage. The last
catalog they had also sold patterns for Shin'a'in and Tayledras costumes
that could be made for Barbie dolls. A good seamstress could probably
adapt them to human size without too much trouble. If nothing else they
could give good ideas. Unless you are wanting to make exact copies of
outfits from the cover I do not know if copyrghts apply to costumes
anyway.

Somewhere in BG after Skan returns from his mission there is a scene
which describes the book he is reading as being very large with tabs on
each page so that a talloned creature could turn the pages.  As much as
Urtho loved the Gryphons this seems very much in keeping with something
he would do. If nothing else Skan was always being awarded special pay
chits so he could afford to have books made to his specifications.

I think that they are similar.  I bet Misty was researching myths for
Fortress and she liked the idea of the Katsechi (sp) and the stolen
princesses. So much so that she later re-told the story.  She also
mentions the Katsechi in Chrome Circle, at one point Tannim and Sharra
are trying to escape through the gates and they end up in the Katsechi's
enchanted garden. 

There has been some talk about the Gryphlets, really I think their main
purpose is to show the "humanity" of the Gryphons to whoever sees them
whether that be Valdemarans, Haighley, etc. At this point could they
even talk? Treyvan and Hydona's children interact with Darkwind, but
they never say anything but shrieks of delight or fear. They understand
speech because they love to listen to Rris but they never speak. If they
are not at the talking stage yet it would be sort of hard to develop
their characters. Its my impression that the gryphlets can't talk until
they start fledging and Misty has never dealt with any at that age. 
Really the physical and mental development of the Gryphons has never
been fully explained.

On the age/height thing, I am 18 and  I think I am the tallest of those who have answered so far, I am just over six foot (at last check) and I would gladly swap with any

Heyla, listsibs!!

It's been a long time since I put in my 2 cents in the list, and I feel 
I have to have my say.

About the twins..nothing much is said about Selenay's twins, except that 
they have similar (but not the same) interests.  It's in the Winds, I 
think Winds of Fate, and it's about Elspeth's bright idea about presents 
for twins.  On the other hand, Lytha and Jerven are very lively, and 
they like to have fun (like most children), but they can be serious esp. 
in hunting lessons (Winds of Fury).  And both sets of twins know the 
danger of the war - so I think they're pretty smart.  And I adore them 
(like I adore bright little kids).

Somebody asked about age, height, and homeland (pardon the faulty 
memory).  Most of the ppl in the list are pretty young (11-15?), so I 
feel pretty old, tho I'm only 17!  Well, I'm 5'3'' and I've been stuck 
to that height since I was 14!  Oh, and I'm a freshman at the Univ. of 
the Philippines (we start college early).

Well, that's my 2 cents.  Zhai'helleva all!

Um, obMisty: Um, well I hope this qualifies. In light of the 
copyright laws, is it permissable and how hard is it to get 
the patterns for a Talaydras like gown/robe?  Id imagine a 
cross between an oriental robe and a Native American 
gown. Or a Herald-type tunic for that matter ( I know a 
certain someone who might enjoy such a thing) *shrug* 
Just wondering. I dont think the SCA accepts rat 
personas. <g>

IIRC, creating a costume is one of the options to be 
fulfilled when you want to join QO as an "accredited" 
persona, but you should (again) check with them. I think 
a costume wouldn't be dangerous, as long as you don't 
sell patterns...

  I would think so.
The Group I belong to is eclectic.   Every ritual we try to have someone in
group to do a different brand of ritual.  Mabon,  one of our members who is
Druid is going to officiate. Katie is going to have something similar to a
Wiccaning at ritual.  We were supposed to have it at her birthday party, but we
made the fatal mistake of having it on a Monday, and very few people showed up.

I am not sure I am following you on this.    If you are talking about
Owlflight, she does switch perspectives suddenly like in the Storms books.  I
do not have the money to invest in hardbacks at the moment, so I have not read
Owlsight.  *sighs* I liked the Storms better than Owlflight if that says
anything.

Have you checked for a SCA site online.  I am not sure but if there is, they
might have a list of chapters.  One of my housemates is/or has been involved
with them. but he is a late riser.  When he gets up, I will email info if he
